Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Often people ask for recommendations on a skincare routine or for specific products/combinations.  This might be a place to share your everyday skincare, both AM and PM.  A skincare "what are you wearing" as it were.  Hope this is useful.

*Age - 40

Skin type - oily/combination

Current skin condition - quite dehydrated (winter/indoor heating)*

01/17/16 - AM skincare in the order I used

1. Nude Jelly cleanser (love)

2. Pixi Glow tonic (5% glycolic toner - love)

3. Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Spritz (sample)

4. Radical Skincare Youth Infusion serum - hydrating and anti-ageing (new to me.  Testing)

5. Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream (like)

6. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream (really like as an AM moisturizer)

I will try to post PM skincare tonight so the post can be comprehensive.

General comments - Okay skin.  Apparently the age between 38-42 is a transformational time in hormones (dehydrated skin/spots), so I am more aware of how my skin performs/reacts .  My skincare definitely has more "actives" now than before.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

I keep forgetting to post my updated routine in this thread. It’s changed quite a bit since March: I wash twice a day now (no more water-only rinsing in the AM), I started an OTC retinol serum, and I’ve changed up several products.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Age - 36

Skin type - dry/combination (oily t-zone)

Current skin condition - breaking out here and there due to pregnancy hormones.

Here are my go to products for dry skin that I use everyday (pre pregnancy, I now check ingredients as there are some products I can’t use at the moment).

Origins frothy face wash and I add the Origins Ginzeng scrub 3 times a week, Fresh Rose Hydration Toner, SK II Essence, Caudalie Beauty Elixir, Leanne Grace Beauty oil for day and The ordinary Rose Hip Oil at night, Kiehls daily concentrate for day and midnight recovery concentrate at night, Drunk Elephant Vitamin C serum for day, J.One Firming serum, Tatcha overnight concentrate at night, Tatcha eye cream , Tatcha renewal cream at night and Fresh Rose Deep Hydration cream for day (I like to mix Coola SPF drops into the moisturizer for extra sun protection).  To seal in everything and to add more hydration I like adding Youth To the People Glow Oil.  I have had a lot of trial and error with my skin and all these products have helped my skin.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Congrats on your pregnancy, @SportyGirly125 !

Morning routine

** = optional step

Spoiler

**Lip scrub: Currently MAC Lip Scrubtious. I do this first so I can rinse it off in the shower.

Wash: Usually a water rinse in the shower. If I need more than water, I use ERNO LASZLO - Sensitive Cleansing Oil —and I target only the part(s) of my face that need it.

Tone: INDIE LEE - CoQ-10 Toner

**Essence: May Coop Raw Sauce

Yeah yeah, “but the second ingredient is alcohol!” Raw Sauce also supposedly contains 97% tree sap, so I question the actual amount of alcohol (and any other ingredients) in there.

**Eye serum: DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum to tighten up my crepey undereye skin and help lighten my dark circles. Optional for AM because I find my new eye cream can also do this on its own.

Face serum: depending on my skin’s needs, I use one or more of these.

Lip balm: Plain ol’ Aquaphor. Sometimes I use the Aquaphor SPF lip balm instead.

Eye cream: Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel

Spot treatments:

Moisturizer: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil

Sunscreen: COOLA - Full Spectrum 360° Sun Silk Drops SPF 30 or COOLA - Mineral Face SPF 30 - Matte Tint

Post-workout routine (midday/afternoon)

Spoiler
For many months, I’ve exercised right before my AM or PM routines so I wouldn’t need a separate round of midday skincare. But the warmer it gets outside, the more I’ll want to do midday workouts. I’ll need to wash my face afterward. (No I will not spend the rest of the day with my skin steeping in bacteria; I also shower after sweaty workouts.) So...

Pre-workout makeup removal: Erno Laszlo oil cleanser

Post-workout wash: DE Pekee Bar
Lip balm: Aquaphor
Undereyes: Biossance eye gel
Moisturizer: YTTP face oil
Sunscreen: One of my Coola sunscreens

Night routine

** = optional step

Spoiler

Makeup removal:

Wash: ORIGINS - Plantscription™ Anti-Aging Cleanser or DRUNK ELEPHANT - Pekee Bar™

Exfoliate:

Eye serum: Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Eye Serum

Face serum: Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair

Lip balm: one of these options.

Eye cream: KORA ORGANICS - Noni Radiant Eye Oil

Spot treatments:

  • Acne: PEACE OUT - Acne Healing Dots,  Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch, or Biossance Squalane + Tea Tree Oil (depending on the state of the acne)
  • Redness: Herbivore Emerald Oil or Biossance Squalane + Tea Tree Oil
  • Flaky nose: Herbivore Emerald Oil or Biossance 100% Squalane Oil

Moisturizer: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Air-Whip Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Cream

...I keep referencing back to this as I grab my tape measure to measure my space on my vanity and check out Amazon for spinners...

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@SportyGirly125  Mine also came from Amazon. It’s actually a double decker carousel, but I left the top tier off. It’s also smaller than the previous one I had in that same corner; I wanted something with much lower sides and a smaller diameter, and this little one was perfect. The old bigger one is now at work in the bathroom cabinet.

@WinglessOne Here’s mine from Amazon.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

I love your spinner!  It houses items on my list to buy ex: HERBIVORE - Emerald Cannabis Sativa Hemp Seed Deep Moisture Glow Oil

And that Biossance.

And 1 that I have a little sample of that I want to try: ESTéE LAUDER - Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II

Among all the other goodies.  Thanks for sharing!

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@WinglessOne  The way you store your cotton rounds 😍 brilliant idea!

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Thanks @RNGesusPls ! Those cotton round holders are what I was actually searching for on Amazon (to hold disposable cotton rounds) when I found the reusable bamboo rounds. Smiley Happy The holders were around $8 USD each.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

This is what I'm currently using. I don't use all at the same time of course but it does change based on whether I'm using the Babyfacial, traveling, if there's a weather change, etc.

Not pictured (was in a rush, my bad):

SK-II - Facial Treatment Cleansing Oil

Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid Lotion toner

FRESH - Soy Face Cleanser

COOLA - Mineral Face SPF 30 - Matte Tint

Age: 25

Skin type: Acneic, combination that leans towards oily, rosacea, sensitive.

It may seem like a lot of chemical exfoliants but my skin loves them and they help curb my breakouts. Good-bye cystic acne.

RE: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

A lot of my products are drugstore, but I thought I’d contribute to this thread anyway. Age: 18 Every night I clean my face with Olay daily facial cloths. They are my holy grail cleanser and I haven’t seen anything else quite like them on the market. Needless to say, if they ever get discontinued, I will be devastated. I follow with a vitamin C serum. Currently I am using the TruSkin vitamin C and hyaluronic acid serum. Then I use a moisturizer (I’m still trying to find one that’s perfect for my skin, but in the past I’ve used Clinique supercharged concentrate. It’s great, but it’s quite pricey considering how quickly it gets used up). I occasionally use a mask such as the origins original skin mask or a peel off mask. I have dry combination skin.

Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Im in my early 40s, and just decided to get serious about my skincare routine. My current night routine: Farmacy Green Clean balm. Followed by the Ordinary's Argireline solution around eyes and on forehead, and Origins Ginzing around eyes. Ginzing has been making my eyes water though, so I can't see myself rebuying, and I'm not sure how long I'll continue. I use the Ordinary's Niacinamide 10% on my face, and follow it by the Ordinary's Matrixyl 10%. Then I've been alternating between the Ordinary's Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil or Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve. I am looking for something that shrinks pores, but doesn't have Glycolic acid in it.

I am using many of the same products as you. So glad the Ordinary exists!! How are you finding the argireline??. I don't think the origins eye cream is doing much for me either but adds some artificial brightness so I will use it up. I am using coconut oil in evening and notice better hydration with that. I have also been using Ole truth serum as a vitamin C but noticed a lot of blackheads, so I am giving the Ordinary absorbyl glucoside a try. I also recommend the marine hylaronics and their Fountain hylaronic supplement.

Skin twins! I just started using the Argireline about a week ago, and I read somewhere that it needs to be used for about 6 months to see an effect. Perhaps after 6 months we forget what our skin looks like and assume it looks better now? lol I've juuuuust started, in the last 2 nights to use Ordinary's Ascorbyl Glucoside instead of the Niacinamide and Matrixyl. I haven't used a vitamin C product before. Either it's the product or perhaps I'm tired, but my cheeks are flushed mid-afternoon. I can feel them now. This is not typical for me, so it may be a reaction to the product. Then again I'm getting over a cold. I will keep an eye on it. I am loving how bright my skin looks when I wake up- much more noticeable than the Buffet.
