Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Often people ask for recommendations on a skincare routine or for specific products/combinations.  This might be a place to share your everyday skincare, both AM and PM.  A skincare "what are you wearing" as it were.  Hope this is useful.

*Age - 40

Skin type - oily/combination

Current skin condition - quite dehydrated (winter/indoor heating)*

01/17/16 - AM skincare in the order I used

1. Nude Jelly cleanser (love)

2. Pixi Glow tonic (5% glycolic toner - love)

3. Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Spritz (sample)

4. Radical Skincare Youth Infusion serum - hydrating and anti-ageing (new to me.  Testing)

5. Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream (like)

6. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream (really like as an AM moisturizer)

I will try to post PM skincare tonight so the post can be comprehensive.

General comments - Okay skin.  Apparently the age between 38-42 is a transformational time in hormones (dehydrated skin/spots), so I am more aware of how my skin performs/reacts .  My skincare definitely has more "actives" now than before.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@Anonymous How do you love the Chanel toner? I love Hydra beauty line but I did not splurge on the toner yet. Does it make a difference in your routine?

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@lauriebos

I usually use Hado Labo HA as my hydrating toner at night during the dryer months but with the snail mucin and BC a lighter toner like Chanel is the perfect compliment. It has more of a watery feel and a good amount of slip to move around and pat in. The only thing as with most Chanel products is fragrance. It doesn't bother me and since you use the hydra line it would be ok. This one is a great morning toner and layer for my routine.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Great!! Thanks @Anonymousfor your answer.

I do not have issue with fragrances and the hydra beauty line is the only one that worked for me as I'm on accutane and need A LOT of hydration. I'll certainly give it a try!

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Did you get the previous CH Cult Beauty box?  I just finished the EH moringa balm (loved!) and nearly finished the DDG eye cream.  The blue cocoon I didn't use for almost a year until BT (Thanks @Mochapj!)has recommendations on how to use it.  Now I love as a final step when nothing else seems to want to sink in and hydrate. @Anonymous

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@sister13

I didn't get the last box because I already had some of the products. Blue cocoon is amazing especially this time of year. The smell and texture is such a sensory experience. The DDG eye cream is my favorite night time eye cream. She really picked curated a great box last time.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

So, I mentioned that I had a facial tomorrow - maybe I told @Zpsid91?

Well, apparently today is the 26th, not tomorrow.  This is an independent facialist (so good too).  So I paid the nice lady for her time.  But instead of getting a face wallop, I am here sitting like a chump.

You can stop worrying about the wrinkles as the mind is the first thing to go.  Don't tell me I didn't warn you.

*Goodbye cruel world, it's over...walk on by......*

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

oh noooo @greenchilli - that is very sad 😞

At least you have found a good facialist (?) - they are hard to come by

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Ah sorry to hear that. Tomorrow my local NM has facial event for AmorePacific clients but I can't go since I don't have anyone pick up mini BK from his daycare. Next time then 😉 Or maybe I should treat myself a massage and facial during my coming trip.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@blackkitty2014

Mini BK needs to spend time with his auntie.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Mini BK and the pups can entertain each other while we're enjoying our facial 😉 We might not recognize our own homes afterward but we will look fabulous for sure 😉

Thanks @k617

Somedays I really feel my age. Haha

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Dear hormonal BT crusaders.  I feel your pain.  We will prevail.

AM skincare:

Age - 41

Skin type/condition - Oily skin that is prone to dehydration.

Skin condition is fine.  Am hormonal, but I have mastered this battle with stealth technology, ninja tricks, and the help of my puppy sidekicks.

20170126_AM (Large).jpg

1. Ren Evercalm Cleansing Milk - I love this cleanser so much.  It is gentle and hydrating.  It is more than a cleanser.  I love the feel of it on my skin as well.

2. FAB Radiance pads - tried and true

3. Indie Lee CoQ toner - smells like aftershave lotion in a good way.  My first impressions are good. I have only used it a few times.

4. Zelens vitamin D drops - Hormonal skin needs all the reinforcements it can get.  But this packaging is a pain.  I remember losing product.

5. Collin 5 Expertise Eye cream - I like.  Now in rotation.

6.  Indie Lee Squalene moisturiser - used it only a couple of times.  It seems okay, not sure I would use it on days I plan to wear makeup.  Still testing this out.

Spoiler
Random skincare thoughts...

A lot of skincare shows no immediate change/impact.  I expect that.  Most preventative skincare should maintain the status quo (status quo being healthy skin).  Seeking out beneficial ingredients goes a long way in that.  Some skincare does show immediate effects - cleansers, exfoliaters and such.   Skincare duds to me are often those that make my skin feel worse off after using them.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@greenchilli i lovvvvve the ren evercalm cleanser as well. i'm eager to try the indie lee toner soon.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@greenchilli

Have you tried the indie rose hip cleanser? I wanted to order but haven't heard much about it.

Puppy kisses cure everything!

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@Anonymous - this is on my list as well (Indie Lee Rose Cleanser)

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@Anonymous

I haven't tried anything else from Indie Lee yet.  I was interested in trying the Brightening Cleanser, sometime soon.

*Pups are being ***** today.  If they continue misbehaving, I might gift them to the first snotty kid I see.*

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Age: 28

Skin type: Mostly normal, slightly oily nose and surrounding area

Current skin condition: bracing myself for hormonal breakouts that usually pop up around this time! But otherwise good.

AM

  • CeraVe foaming cleanser (I'm thinking of switching to the hydrating one after this bottle, which was my 3rd. My skin is moving away from being oily)
  • MISSHA The First Treatment Essence
  • Paula's Choice 2% BHA liquid
  • Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid
  • Mizon White Capsule essence (mixed with Dr. Jart)
  • Herbivore Lapis oil

PM

  • Sephora waterproof eye makeup remover
  • Sunday Riley Blue Moon cleansing balm
  • One of 3 cleansers (I'm rotating these 3 and LOVE all 3)
    • Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser
    • Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip
    • Youth to the People cleanser
  • MISSHA The First Treatment Essence
  • Either an AHA or Retinol (every other day):
    • Pixi Glow Tonic (This doesn't exfoliate much but I need to use up my mini bottle)
    • Retinol (currently sampling a few to decide which to make permanent)
  • Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid
  • and one of these oils:
    • Herbivore Phoenix
    • NUDE Rescue Oil
    • Drunk Elephant Marula oil (sample-love it)
    • Pixi Rose oil blend

When I'm not lazy, I will also use one or two of these masks/treatments during the week, depending on what I feel like and what I think my skin needs:

  • Herbivore Blue Tansy
  • May Lindstrom Problem Solver
  • Pixi Glow Mud Mask
  • Tata Harper Purfying Mask
  • Pixi Glow Peel Pad (max once per week, will skip additional AHA and retinol)

I will also use my Silk'n Revit home microdermabrasion device once every 2 weeks.

I was using twice per week initially, then once per week as soon as I saw less skin debris on the filter, but then at once per week my skin seemed to be still breaking out. Now, I've backed off to once every 2 weeks and get the same amount of debris on the filter as when I was using once per week, and the breakouts have subsided.

I still have lots of red hyperpigmentation around my mouth area from all my hormonal breakouts that I'm working on fading. The retinol seems to have really helped (we'll see about preventing them from happening), so once I test the 2 Paula's Choice retinol products that I've ordered travel sizes of, I will settle on one for my routine!
