Curious about quantity of cleansing in a single day

So perhaps this is a silly question, but from what I have read online there is some very different thoughts on the quantity you should be washing your face.

Lets say I have fairly normal skin, not too dry, not overly oily...  just easily manageable, in that regard.

My general understanding is that you should wash in the morning and and night.

However, I exercise almost every morning at 5am so I have been wanting to get up and do a quick rinse (gentle cleanser and light cream) to wash off my night serums and any overnight masks if I was wearing any.  I just don't like the idea of going to sweat with all that on, although I am assuming it has all sunk in?  what do you think?

After working out, I would do my regular cleanse (wash, vitC, creams, spf).  After work, I will sometimes go to hot yoga and again I kinda feel like I should wash off all my day stuff and the SPF before I go and sweat again.  Especially in hot yoga were its dripping all over my face and into my eyeballs and ears lol.

At night I would do my regular cleanse - wash (with my new Clarisonic which is AMAZING!!!), serums, creams then bed.

So some days I could be washing 4 times.  I somehow feel like people are going to say that is too much.

What do you think?  How much is too much and what are the drawbacks?

Just curious 🙂

So I have also read conflicting information on this. Some even saying that washing twice a day strips the skin of its natural oils. I think it ultimately depends on what your skin can take. That being said, if I were you I would only do a quick rinse with just water in the morning before your work out. Then your normal routine after. If you go to yoga I would just keep some gentle face wipes in your bag. If you wear make up everyday maybe incorporate an oil cleanser instead of the wipes (I like Cliniques take the day off personally) just to prevent the makeup from getting into your pores, but a full routine before and after morning work out/yoga sounds like too much stripping to me.

@flyingchange ~ First of all, I give a high five for waking up so early to work out. That is dedication. In my opinion, I would be more concerned with washing off the city, makeup and spf than night serums. It’s just an idea, but maybe you can just hit the gym without washing the night off. Maybe just miscelar water or water itself? Personally, I try not to wash my face that often because I feel that I always have to add moisture back in after my skin hits water. As for after work for your yoga session, maybe you can just use facial wipes. I, too, hate working out with a face full of skincare and makeup but every once in a while doesn’t seem to do any harm. Just some ideas... hope this helps!
