Chemical burn treatments

So I made a big mistake really I accidentally put on foundation that was at lest 3 years past the expiration date (not sure why I still had it) and I only had it on for 2 minutes before I realized something was wrong and it gave me chemical burns around my mouth and changed the texture of my skin all over my face so I was wondering if anyone new any ways to get ride of it I heard that Aloe helps by its just made my skin break out really badly

@Anonymous Aloe needs to be pure aloe, which is clear, otc has additives. But I would get 2nd Skin burn pads. Walgreens might have the brand in their store box, at least last time I purchased. Keep it moist. Edit, the pads are cuttable to size needed.

Re: Chemical burn treatments

@Anonymous No aloe. Wash 2-3 times daily with mild unscented soap and apply bacitracin ointment. The bacitracin is safe for use on lips/nose. If any little blisters form don't pop them, the intact skin is infection protection. If large pus filled blisters form, or the redness starts to extend from the area of the original irritation/burn, those are signs of infection and you'll need to be seen by a doctor. Your family doctor should be able to see you for it, but may refer you to a local burn center outpatient clinic if you have one.

I work in a burn center. There's no quick fix for this, let it heal it's course. We use johnsons baby soap to wash burns, but any mild/unscented soap works. Bacitracin is available OTC at drugstores for around $10 a tube. It is oil based and stains clothes, so be careful when applying to wash hands etc after/don't touch clothing. Once it heals, you may want to use heavier cream/oils on the area for a bit. I know it's tempting to cover it up, but hold off on makeup products and skincare treatment ingredients until you are all healed up.

Also, reevaluate your skincare products- was there anything new you used, harsh treatments like vitamin c/acids/retinols etc? Be suspicious. If you have blisters inside your mouth and take any medications, contact your doctor about a possible medication reaction.

Re: Chemical burn treatments

@Anonymous I would probably call my dermatologist for recommendations.

Keeping the burn clean and dry until it heals is important. Maybe just something soothing, like your aloe (although check the aloe for alcohol) helps. I would avoid makeup and sunlight until it heals too. Good luck!
