Cancer skincare advice

Hi All

i’m currently undergoing my second course of chemo for her+ breast cancer.  I’ve been using La Roche Posay face wash and moisturizer, which has helped with the irritation and dryness, however hasn’t helped much with the tone of my skin.  I’ve been using a very gentle Aveeno body wash which is soothing but the scent is not pleasant.

Does anyone have any suggestions of somewhat reasonably priced products I could try?  I will also be starting radiation soon, and I don’t know if that will create more skin issues.  Any advice is much appreciated.

thank you!

Re: Cancer skincare advice

@diosmom best of luck with your treatment .  I would speak to my oncologist who may refer you to a dermatologist.  They will be able to assist you better.

Wishing you all the best.

Thanks for the tag @missaa8!

@diosmom I’m so sorry about your diagnosis. I hope there’s some light at the end of the tunnel for you! 💕

I teach science for a living but I’m not a doctor. Please take this with a grain of salt. Skin issues are a side effect of cancer treatment. Once your treatment is complete, your skin should start to get some of the colour back since the medication is no longer accidentally targeting it. I think you are doing the best you can in this situation by keeping it hydrated. Definitely consult with your oncologist about what more you can do to alleviate any side effects and talk to them about your skincare routine.

For body wash, anything with colloidal oats can help soothe irritation. I know Aveeno has one that is decent. CeraVe and Cetaphil both have cleansers that are very gentle and generally have no scent or at least a really neutral one.

Hang in there! All of BIC is rooting for you!

@diosmom @missaa8 We are not medical professionals on here. Can you talk to your Doctor and ask what you could use? I don’t want to suggest something that could interfere with medication/ treatment that you are using.

Re: Cancer skincare advice

@diosmom, @SportyGirly125 & @JoSometimes usually have good product insight. I've tagged them and hope they see this.
