Basic Skincare routine recommendations

Hi! I'm all new to this and I'm not quite sure how this works, but I'm looking for some recommendations for a basic skin care routine and necessities. (On a low budget) I'm almost 17 and I have sensitive combo/acne-prone skin if that helps. Thank you in advance!

Re: Basic Skincare routine recommendations

Hi @InvisibleChair! Check out The Inkey List, The Ordinary, and even Sephora Collection. Their products are all on the budget end, priced almost like drugstore products, and they work really well.

A basic skincare routine can consist of a cleanser, and moisturizer, and a sunscreen. From there, you can always add more products to target your specific needs. It would be a good idea to read up on different ingredients to see what they do and whether they’ll be right for you. Since you mentioned your skin is acne-prone, look for products that contain non-comedogenic ingredients (non-pimple-causing).

Here are a few of my favourites that are budget friendly. For the record, I have dry, sensitive skin.

Cleanser

The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL . It’s a simple, no nonsense cleanser that strips away dirt without stripping the skin of moisture. Hyaluronic acid is non-comedogenic and the added moisture can help reduce sebum production, which can help if that’s what’s causing your skin to feel oily. Another good option to check out is CeraVe at you local drugstore. I tried the cream to foaming cleanser and found it too drying for me since my skin is already dry but it might be a decent fit for you.

Moisturizer

#SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hydrator Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL is one that I use regularly. Another cheap, no-nonsense product that does its job well.

Sunscreen

CeraVe has a daytime moisturizer with sunscreen that works best for people with normal to oily skin. It’s also affordable and easy to find at your local drugstore.
