Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@cianni  This sounds like the perfect combo! It's too bad the TH is so spendy though! - it's always the ones we love the most. 🤨 Glad you got some great results! 😃

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Discovery of 2019 BambooIMG_20191229_205246354.jpg

This was a gift from the wonderful @itsfi thin white sheet with clear serum, fit was decent, it adhered well to the under eye area, which is, more often than not, an issue I find in most masks, so already I'm very happy! The scent was on the fresh/clean side, not noticeable while the mask is in place. A little extra serum in the package, wear time was 20 minutes, after removing, I noticed the serum is very light weight and hydrating. My skin did lean towards being softer, but definitely hydrated! I enjoyed this mask, and would use again 👍 no tackiness at allIMG_20191229_205253306.jpg

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I definitely need to look into some bamboo masks!

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I really like their Labotica line, @lmaster. Plus bamboo masks always seem to hit the mark. Happy 2020!🥳

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi yes I most certainly enjoyed this one! Thanks so much

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster  I've really liked the masks I've tried from this line, and I think the bamboo and honey are my favorites so far! Glad you enjoyed this one too!

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I loved how airy and light the serum felt @Shosh85 glad you liked them too

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Happy New Year's, masking peeps!

Between posting issues and general holiday craziness, I'm way behind on posts but to throw a few recent masks from the last few weeks on here. I've lost a couple pics in my phone, like of the Mediheal Horse Oil Mask (from all the way back at odd ingredients week), but we'll go with what we've got!

IMG_20191219_180711.jpgHand and foot masks from last year's Sweet and Shimmer collection at Ulta. I was actually a big fan of both of these and glad that I had picked up several. The scents are definitely noticeable and linger so those with scent sensibilities probably want to avoid this line, but I found them pleasant so didn't mind. Both were very moisturizing.

A post-Christmas multi-masking session. Love the Sephora hand and foot masks. Like the Patchology eye gels ok. Usually I love the Papa Recipe masks but this one (the Honey Butter Cream) was not nearly as moisturizing as I was expecting. It did smell lovely though. The Patchology lip mask was so not good for me. It was very delicate and tore a bit going on and then kept sliding down even after being placed under the Papa Recipe mask edges.

Random masks thrown together for the pic and I realize I've been reaching for honey a lot lately! The OH PowerBright is one of my all-time favorites and one I save for special occasions or some much needed pampering. The Etude House is probably my favorite line and I do enjoy this honey version even though there's no honey scent. The Candy O'Lady was great to try out- thank you @ShortErica for sending this one to me! I loved the scent and hydration and would use it again. Both Leader's masks are good work horses for me. The AC clear is my go-to when I have a bit of a breakout. It's calming and hydrating and takes some of the oomph out of blemishes. The aloe is nice for soothing with plenty of essence in the package. Although I think I've decided that I may have a slight preference for the Yadah aloe for the soothing/hydration effect.

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Wow I’m envious of your post-Christmas masking @quspork 🤩 Lots of nourishing care, looks so relaxing. Happy New Year to you!

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Looks like some amazing masking right there!  @quspork

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I love that honey CandyoLady mask @quspork!

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooo so many masks @quspork! Glad the candy O'Lady mask was nice for you.

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork  Looks like a lot of great masking! The packaging on the Ulta masks are super cute and even better they worked well for you! I love all the masks in that last picture- OH, Leaders and honey are definitely favorites of mine!
I'm happy you've enjoyed these masks! Hope you have a very Happy New Year! 🥳

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Group masking session time!20191230_160354.jpg

I got my mom and sister-in-laws masks and skincare for Christmas.  Since we were all together over Christmas we picked a day and all the girls masked together.  I didn't get a picture of my niece's face mask I had for her, nor my little nephew's mask.  They loved my face smelling and looking like a watermelon! My 1 sister-in-law loved the Frudia mask, my other sister-in-law liked her pore-tight mask but didn't like how it was tacky for quite a while. Mom fell asleep with hers on and said she loved it!  No kidding, very relaxing.  My nephew enjoyed having the mask cut-outs on his face and my niece loved her kid's mask.  What a fun bonding experience.  We couldn't get my brothers into face masks though. Haha
The Biobelle watermelon was refreshing, and a gift from @faeriegirl I believe (thanks!  I love these Biobelle masks). It left my face moisturized, a bit brighter, and the tackiness went away quickly.  A+ for the biobelle and Frudia.

Re: UPDATE: 2020 Q1/2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!
