Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

2018 Mask of the Week Challenge:

NEW!!! Got an idea for next year's challenge? Let me know! Was there a challenge you'd rather not repeat? Share below, so we can start building the 2021 schedule:

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne  I really like your idea of bottling the extra serum. I think your on to something!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ather  I hate wasting mask serum but have yet to try saving any of it. We’ll see how my experiment goes!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne  I wonder if small containers would be the way to go!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I am so glad this honey mask worked for you @WinglessOne! It sounds lovely!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thanks @haleyvvvv !

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Glad to hear the SNP worked out well for you, @WinglessOne. They have some great masks!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thanks @quspork ! I’ve always passed up the SNP animal masks (though they’re cute looking) because they contain both alcohol and witch hazel, but I do like a couple of their other masks. 🙂

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne  wow that honey mask sounds like a total winner for you. So glad it worked out nicely.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thanks @GalPalVal17 ! I’ll need to buy more of them soon.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Sorry that the masks are no longer made @WinglessOne. Why do they always do that?! @eshoe has sent out some condensed cotton masks. I hadn't heard of them before but that may be a nice way to use the extra serum if you are keeping it in a jar. DIY mask!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ShortErica  I saw those compressed masks on Amazon. I’m considering buying either those or some non-compressed ones so I can make my own sheet masks. Meanwhile, I could apply the serum to my face and then wear my mask holder to press the serum into my skin for 20-30 minutes. A sheet (with no holder) would be more comfy, but the holder is kinda like a reusable sheet mask. Lots of possibilities!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Oh, that's true! You'll have to let us know how you use it @WinglessOne. Maybe you'll have so much you can try multiple ways. 🙂

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne I've never seen The Orchid Flower mask before - the packaging is super adorable. What a bummer they don't sell it anymore because sounds so great!

I probably wouldn't have picked up that SNP mask due to the alcohol, but it sounds like it did well despite that. It's great it had the right combo of ingredients that the honey didn't cause a negative reaction! 👍😃

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85  The SNP mask was a very pleasant surprise! And you might still find some of those Orchid Skin masks at TJM or Marshalls. Mine don’t expire until June 2022, so there are probably still some “last batches” floating around stores. 🙂

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne oh that orchid mask is too cute!! I've never seen those before,,, and sounds like they won't be around 😒

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  I found them at TJ Maxx just last month, so you might still find them. 🙂 Might also see other Orchid Skin masks.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Some great finds at TJ Maxx!! @WinglessOne

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Last night's masking with a mask that intimidates me from Herbivore, a Hydra Mushroom Mask Sheet from Elisha Coy, and night two of testing out a new sleeping mask.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I am so glad your first round went well @eshoe! With this one, it is just slowly working up and listening to your skin, which it sounds like you're doing! It is very smoothing! I want to see how smooth my skin is when I work up to the full time (or even just the 10 minutes for sensitive skin). I do find that since I can leave the Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask on for longer or other masks on for longer, I might shy away from this one in the long term, it's just SO much acids.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

The Alpyn Beauty products have some intriguing ingredients in them, @eshoe. Please keep us updated on how they continue working for you!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Gah @quspork I have a lot of work to do! They have so many different extracts/ingredients that I haven’t seen before, so I want to take my time and see if I can figure out what they are doing in there🧐
