Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

2018 Mask of the Week Challenge:

NEW!!! Got an idea for next year's challenge? Let me know! Was there a challenge you'd rather not repeat? Share below, so we can start building the 2021 schedule:

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  I hope your skin calms down!!! I’m curious about the new bite masks as well.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Would love if a sample shows up, @ather. I have too many FS in use and backups to warrant buying another one!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I'm glad you had a good couple of masking sessions! You utilized a lot of lip products here. I'm lucky if I remember my overnight lip mask. 😄

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I love my lip balms and glosses and masks and scrubs @l8totheparty!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I'm so sorry about your angry skin @eshoe!  Having just gone through it myself, I can totally empathize.  I hope you are able to find something to calm it down and that you can get back to your normal routine quickly!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Oh @mrsmouse I am so sorrySmiley Sad Hope yours returned back to normal quickly. Mine is getting better, I am just disappointed with myself for bringing it to this place. I should know better! Oh well. Time and patience for now.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

My skin is completely back to normal now @eshoe.  The turning point for me seemed to be slathering my face with the Dr. Jart Cicapair overnight mask.  It improved so much in that one night and then it was all uphill from there.  I totally felt like I should have known better too so I feel you on that for sure.  I'm hoping it doesn't take too long for you to be able to get back to your normal routine!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@mrsmouse is it the one in the right?4077D79C-C6F5-4524-AC0B-1EA5F238B689.jpeg

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yep, that's the one @eshoe! I usually could get two uses out of a packet, but I used the whole thing.  Yes, my face was totally greasy going to bed, but I sleep on my back so didn't have to worry about it getting all over my pillow.  It absorbed a lot during the night & there was a noticeable difference in how my skin felt in the morning.  It had been very sensitive to the touch before and that was greatly reduced in the morning.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thank you for letting me know, @mrsmouse! I will be sure to try this one out in the next couple of weeksSmiley Happy

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I hope it works for you @eshoe!  Angry skin isn't very much fun at all!  Smiley Sad

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Oh no @eshoe! Though it doesn't sound like you quite needed your masking emergency kit. I've enjoyed the salad masks I've tried too. Definitely solid finds and I'm so happy we have some kind maskers that shared them with us!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

The masks were good all around, it’s just my skin that’s unhappy right now @ShortErica. Had some good advice from @naturalooks15 and the healing process has begun Smiley Happy

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

That's awesome @naturalooks15 could help you out @eshoe! Hope you heal quickly!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

She has been a tremendous help, @ShortErica. Gave me a plan and I put it to work last night 🤞🏼

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  Hope your skin has calmed down a bit this morning

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

It has not only calmed down but the texture isn’t as rough @naturalooks15. I had a number of small pinpoint blemishes covering the chin/lower half of my cheek area, which is unusual for me, so it must be the last ditch efforts of the skin rebellion.  Going to dig out the Biossance and use that today, hoping to continue the restoration. Many thanks to you🙌🏼

eta the Biossance I have is not the gel cream but this-even better! BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Omega Repair Cream

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  So so glad to hear that your skin is getting better!!
And what a coincidence !! I was going to say that it would be better if you used the Omega repair cream from Biossance rather then the prebiotic gel cream. Good that you have that one, it should help.  I have tried that one but my daughter ending up claiming DS sample that I had for her sensitive and eczema prone skin and it was wonderful for her. So 🤞 you should be back to healthy calm skin in another day or two.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@naturalooks15 I’m pretty sure I had at least three floating around, at least I found one! That’s good to hear it worked so well for your daughter. This combo is working so well, I will need to have one on hand for sure in case this happens again. I do like it better than the gel, that was a bit light for my skin; it needed more hydration. This is just right.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Uhhh oooo @eshoe I've used the TJ scrub once so far and loved it,, and I've had this same issue with other similar masks, I hope that's not the case with this one! So sorry to hear this!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster I will pick up a FS of that TJ’s mask at some point, love the texture of it and it’s a treat to use. For the time being, maybe not thoughSmiley Wink
