Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yeah, a back to basics routine is always good when skin is reactive or super sensitive to actives or acids (or anything). Hope you are able to pinpoint the root of the issue @eshoe.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thank you @itsfi, things are on the upswing but it will be a few days before I dare use a wash-off mask again. I have a few sheet masks with centella, snail mucin, and/or propolis set aside for the rest of the week though I took tonight off.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Good thinking to take the night off @eshoe. Sometimes our skin just needs a break. Those are wonderful ingredients you listed and they should be helpful with the healing process. Hope your skin feels better soon.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  sorry to hear you are facing this. It hurts plus itโ€™s annoying.

You already seem to have a solid plan but just wanted to share ... when I get this kind of irritated skin, I stick with minimal ingredient products - wash with gentlest cleanser (cream cleanser or DE Pekee bar), glycerine with rose water or Consonant Hydroextreme (has just two ingredients), Squalane oil and DE Lala to ensure I am not irritating it further. Even sunscreens stings me on those days. I recently saw somewhere that Truely Doll cream has minimal ingredients and works really well.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thank you so much for the suggestions @naturalooks15, I am noting them. Iโ€™ve never encountered this type of aggravation so Iโ€™m really at a loss for how to get my skin back on the fast track to good health. I will also check out Truely Doll cream, havenโ€™t heard of it before so I appreciate it.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  I had this kind of irritation when I dived right into A-Passioni Sunce I had never used a Retinol before. It was red, looked swollen for more than 24 hrs. Everything stung, even Protini and B-Hydra. I stayed away from any actives for at least 4-5 days if I remember correctly. Ten Evercalm masked also felt burning, Jart Ceramidine shwet mask also didnโ€™t help.

I am so sorry you are going through this. This sounds like moisture barrier damaged. If you live close to a Sephora, I would suggest go in for a sample of DE F-Balm, Lala retro and Squalane oil if you donโ€™t have these. I am happy to decant these and send your way but I think that will take 2-3 days. Let me know and I can get these shipped tomorrow morning.

Glycerine will sting so donโ€™t Put it on as first layer for first two days. Keep moisturizer in fridge and then use it. If nothing then for tomorrow, just use water to rinse, no cleanser and pat on squalane oil then try glycerine-rose (ETA: snail mucin) . If you have aloe gel, put it in fridge and use that.
Costco has โ€œGeorganic Propolisโ€ serum which has โ€˜Propolis extract and Centella Asiatica extractโ€™ (or any other serum with these two ingredients will help).

Oh... and how can I forget.... simplest things .... if nothing else  CosRx snail mucin has minimal ingredients and doesnโ€™t have actives, keep it in the fridge and apply that mixed with Squalane oil

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@naturalooks15 you are such an encouragement! I just checked and I have a full bottle of the Consonant Hydroextreme, as well as an almost full jar of the LaLa. I stopped by Sephora earlier today and picked up a sample of the F-Balm, so the only piece of the puzzle I am missing is the squalane. I do have a DS of the BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer, I wonder if that would work. I have sooooo many facial oils, but none with squalane at the moment. The Consonant has glycerin, so I shouldnโ€™t use that for the first couple of days, correct? The CosRx I can pick up locally, just checked. Also the Georgina I can order online it appears, looks like I have my work cut out for me!

Many thanks for taking the time to share, and also offering to send me a bit as well. That Consonant has been lingering and it appears today was the perfect day to get my DE sample. I did try it (the DE) after LaLa tonight and so far, so good.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  If you have Consonant HydraExtreme then you are set. Use it first right after washing. It will NOT sting. The other extract ingredient makes it super duper gentle.  Today use 6-7 drops, (generally you need just 2-3) after that use DE Lala then top it off with F-Balm. Do this twice. This should give you relief by tomorrow eve. Try Boissance cream in small area tomorrow, should be fine but not sure with damaged barrier. You donโ€™t need to rush to buy that Georganics serum from Costco since you have Consonant. Snail mucin is good to buy/keep since itโ€™s non-reactive and was fine even in my tomato red face.

one more thing I had learnt the super hard way.... do not cry after applying Retinol, or at least not let tears roll down your face/cheeks. It will make you face raw, like you โ€œscraped off too layer of skin with a knifeโ€ raw ๐Ÿ˜ณ after two incidents I realized that.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Oh my I will be extra careful not to shed a tear @naturalooks15 ๐Ÿ˜ฌ My mistake perhaps is that I became a little too casual with the Bakuchiol; as a retinol alternative, I didnโ€™t think it had the potential to damage my skin.

Iโ€™ve completed one round of your suggested routine, just waiting for everything to soak in a bit before round two. I am pretty sure I have a few sheet masks with snail mucin, wonder if they would be helpful throughout the week.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi your flat lays always make me wish I'd bought different things at the grocers.  And possibly make me want to run back out to get strawberries.  Dang this is just such a pretty, put together masking session!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thank you so much @missjeanie for your kind words! ๐Ÿฅฐ Lots of strawberry goodness  with this masking. ๐Ÿ“ Flat lays, food and face care ... these are a few of my favorite things. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Oh my gosh!! @itsfi strawberry kitkats!!! I've never seen these before! Must find now!! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜‹

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Theyโ€™re yummy @lmaster! ๐Ÿ“ Sweet but not too sweet! ๐Ÿ’• Let me know if you have problems getting a hold of them. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi thanks! I found some online ๐Ÿ™Œ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Such a pretty colour scheme @itsfi! it's making me crave sugar!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thank you @haleyvvvv๐Ÿ™‚ It was a great strawberry theme masking all around. My favorite of the food and drink treats ended up being the strawberry rhubarb kombucha - I had never tried that kombucha flavor before; it reminded me of a seasonal strawberry rhubarb cupcake I had years ago - now, that was delicious!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  Oh yum, what a delicious theme! ๐Ÿ“ I actually just recently saw those Kit Kat's somewhere and assumed they were limited edition for Valentines - those other flavors sound interesting! ๐Ÿค”

Glad you liked the Peripera mask! I've really enjoyed all the Peripera masks I've tried so far and they all have smelled great too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

That Skinfood mask is one of my favorites! It seriously looks and smells good enough to eat!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85, oh good call, makes sense about it being LE for Valentines Day. Iโ€™ll have to keep an eye out on the different Kit Kat flavors. Iโ€™m not sure about the chestnut flavored one but the apple pie one sounds like it might be good. ๐Ÿ˜‹ That Skinfood wash off is one Iโ€™ll keep repurchasing; smells amazing.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Lovinโ€™ the strawberry ๐Ÿ“ theme here @itsfi! The longer I mask, the more I appreciate a good fruity scent. The Kit Kat looks...interesting? I wonder if it tastes like strawberry wafers, you know the sugary rectangular treats that come in packages with vanilla and chocolate flavored ones? Yumโ˜บ๏ธ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

How funny @eshoe! Those strawberry wafers were the first thing I thought of when I laid eyes on the Kit Katโ€™s. The chocolate covering the wafer part definitely changes things enough that when I took a bite of the Kit Kat, it didnโ€™t remind me of those wafers at all other than the crunch factor. I guess every strawberry treat has its own distinctive taste?! Lol. ๐Ÿ˜‚ As for the actual mask, I really liked the scent on this one. I think it would be one you like! ๐Ÿ“
