Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@PrettyPaint  Yeah, that was probably my favorite part about the mask! The milky/creamy serums are my most favorite- and jelly is pretty great too ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

These masks are great @Shosh85!

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@faeriegirl They really are! I've definitely liked the ones I've tried so far! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 totally love these!! @faeriegirl was so kind to gift me a bunch, might be hoarding them for a bit ๐Ÿ˜

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  They've really been great so far! I got a couple packs, but I'm kinda wishing I picked up more - so I've sort of been hoarding mine too ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 @lmaster hoard carefully - don't let the goodness expire on you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ShortErica  Haha! I'm definitely being a careful hoarder! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ShortErica I went through all my masks, I have all the ones that expire this year in one spot ๐Ÿ™Œ

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

I feel like all the salad masks were winners @Shosh85 . Glad this one worked out well for you!

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@missjeanie  Glad to hear you've liked them too! I've only tried 4 so far, but have liked them all! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

I started the new year trying 2 new masks last night.  A little over ambitious but it turned out alright.  First up was the BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Mask.  I applied about 3 pumps onto the dry skin as directed. Directions are to wear for 5-15 minutes then rinse.  During that time I cleaned up the counter top in my bathroom and added more shelves to my make-up /skincare organizer.  I ended up wearing the mask for about 20 minutes and at the end it just felt a bit dry / tacky.  I jumped in the shower and rinsed then washed it off as it felt as there was a bit of a residue from the mask.  No redness but some irritation that I wore it a bit longer than I should have.

I had picked up a sample of HERBIVORE - Prism 12% AHA + 3% BHA Exfoliating Glow Serum to try in place of the DE TLC that I just am not feeling these days.  It went on smoothly and feels slightly tacky when you first put it on.  It soaks in rather quickly and I topped it off for with the new Drunk Elephant F-Balmโ„ข Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask 1.69 oz/ 50 mL that I had picked up.

First, I must say I am a bit disappointed in the consistency - I had hoped since it is an overnight mask it would be similar to Lala.  The consistency reminds me a bit of Prontini (which I don't like as it reacts with my sensitive skin) which is thinner but at that I think Prontini is thicker.  So for a night mask, it seems a bit well, runny.  I used 2 pumps and it covered my face and neck.  At the moment, the consistency is my biggest pet peeve - I really wanted something creamier if that makes sense.

It took a few minutes for it to soak in - however, I think due to double masking and relatively dry air in my flat, I didn't feel as if it was super hydrating on it's own and to keep my skin calm I topped it off with a bit of Biossance's Squalane Oil.  Today I took a break from all masks and just am using my moisturizers - no serums.  My skin still does not feel as moisturized as it normally does but again, this may be due to the double masking and leaving the first one on longer than directed (I usually would just leave one like that on for maybe 5 minutes).  However, since it's not very thick, I do wonder how hydrating it is on its own.  I am interested because it has good ingredients to help calm and soothe the skin which I need to help tackle the after affects of hives / flushing and prevent further irritation.  So the jury is still out on the hydrating effect.

In terms of scent, I didn't really detect a scent from F-Balm.  The Rose Mask when it first arrived from Biossance had an overwhelming smell that overpowered me from just opening the box - I almost sent it back then and there.  I left it out for a few weeks and the scent on the packaging went away but there is a detectable scent during the entire masking process - to me the mask smells far stronger than the oil.  As for Prism, there is a faint scent but it dissipates once the serum has dried.

So my final thoughts - overall I'm pleased with my masking efforts last night.  I had been working long hours the last few months so my night routine pretty much went out the window.  This put me back on track.  I am going to continue to keep trying out Prism with the F-Balm over the course of next week to see if I actually want to invest in it.  So far, it's a definite maybe and has a better price point than DE's TLC.

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@MCSSavvy I feel you, I had just applied that Biossance mask when I ended up in a length conversation which I could not extract myself from - must have been on 45-60 minutes. I was terrified my skin would be in a fit but I had no issues, thank goodness. It must be very, VERY gentle!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the DE. I am heavily considering that one, so it is very helpful to hear what others think about it. I like a weightier sleeping mask, so we will see.

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  It's so easy to let time get away from you sometimes when you mask!  I haven't used it since but I think I'll put it back in the rotation this weekend.  I've been concentrating more on the DE F-Balm and Herbivore Prism these last few weeks (sorry, I'm a little late responding - work has been crazy, busy and I participated in restaurant week last week).  My wallet is a little sad until payday.  LOL.  I did put a newer review up on my experience with F-Balm and Herbivore if you hadn't came across it yet.  F-Balm is really starting to grow on me and I'm thinking that Prism may be a good fit.  ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

Where is your review @MCSSavvy ? I do want to take a peek!

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe That's a good question!  I've had trouble logging onto the board the last few days.  I think I was able to reply to 1-2 posts last night before I was kicked off the site so I'm doing a bit of catch-up.  Anyway, I realized I just replied to your comment on my post from last Friday which was my updated review from initial thoughts to follow-up.

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@MCSSavvy the Drunk Elephant and Biossance masks sound great.

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Anonymous  - Thank you!

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@MCSSavvy I picked up the herbivore prism as well, have not tried it yet, I'm also awaiting the DE, the consistency might actually be great for me since I tend to have oily skin, for the past 6 months however, I've been normal, so sounds promising

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  - I do think it has promise.  Never hurts to try a sample.  I think I may add it on top of a moisturizer.  If I remember right I had to learn to do that with the YTTP mask last year so it may just be my sensitive somewhat normal/dry skin needs that extra moisture before the mask.  Sigh.  Definitely would like your thoughts on Prism when you try it.

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thank you! @MCSSavvy going to try it soon ๐Ÿ˜Š

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@MCSSavvy Definitely sounds like a wonderful masking session! All three of these are on my purchase list, so it's good to hear they're performing great so far! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
