@PinkEvergreen thanks for the wonderful review. Too bad it wasn’t as good as the other ones are for you.
Oh that packaging is so pretty @PinkEvergreen. Bummer the mask was just a C, I would much rather have oversize eye holes than too small, too.
Too bad this one didn’t work for you @PinkEvergreen ☹️
How do I apply for the job of mask package designer? Mine wouldn’t look this good but I would try. Too bad the mask itself wasn’t as impressive as the artwork @PinkEvergreen
@ShortErica Lol I actually thought the same thing last week. I would love to design mask packaging!!! 😃
Sorry the fit was off on this one @PinkEvergreen. Love the artwork on the packaging, though 🙂
@PinkEvergreen awww too bad!! Such beautiful packaging
@lmaster I have another one from this collection that is equally cute. But I’ll have to face those tiny eye holes again lol...
That is one heck of a name for one little mask, @PinkEvergreen! Too bad the experience didn't live up to the usual MBD level.
It is an adorable picture!
@PinkEvergreen Great review! I'm a big fan of MBD masks as well, great buffer masks. Especially black pearl and aloe.
PTR review time!
I’m going to post a more direct review over in the gratis thread but you guys are going to get the expanded version here. I recently went back north to the Indianapolis area to visit family and friends. While there I was very excited to finally get to do my first Perk facial at Sephora since there is only a SiJCP near me where I am living now. I had grand plans to get it done my very first day there and also pick up lots of product and samples I can’t get locally and use those while I was up in Indy. Well…. the drive involved a lot of gripping the steering wheel in terror while driving through heavy rain and storms so my arms and shoulders were in agony by the time we got there and I spent that night unable to sleep because of the pain. I ended up canceling everything we had planned for the first day, including the Sephora trip. I was able to reschedule for Sunday, the last day of the trip. So yay for finally getting to try the Perk facial (I loved it!) but boo for not having any skincare to speak of during my vacation besides what a quick trip to CVS netted me. And yay again for coming home to find a mask gift waiting for me.
I decided to multi mask with the PTR Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask and the PTR Cucumber Gel Mask Extreme De-Tox™ Hydrator. I have been having lots of issues with my skin since moving to the deep south - anytime I go outside my skin gets smothered under a thick heavy layer of sweat within minutes. Skin that was normal/dry now seems to be veering to combination/bug-bit. Because of that, I’ve been trying to use mud masks a little more frequently than I used to, and the PTR Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask is one of the best out there (it just barely missed the cut for my Top 5 Favorite Masks). It is described as “a purifying, decongesting, and hydrating face mask with odorless Irish moor mud to help draw out dirt, oil, and grime while simultaneously providing nourishment ” and is suggested as a solution for pores; dullness and uneven texture; and fine lines and wrinkles. Since my skin has historically tended toward dryness I like that it doesn’t dry down and leaves my skin soft and hydrated. The PTR Cucumber Gel Mask Extreme De-Tox Hydrator didn’t come close to making my top 5 list but I do like it for a very specific purpose - I love keeping it in the fridge and using it to soothe and depuff tired eyes. It also works very well to cool and soothe my entire face when I am overheated (I have the sort of face that turns beet red when I get hot). I used a brush to apply a layer of the Irish Moor Mud Mask to my face and neck, leaving a wide margin around my eyes which I filled in using the Cucumber Gel Mask. I left them both on for about 10 minutes (side note - do you start timing your masking session from when you begin to apply the mask or from when you finish? Does anybody besides me take several minutes to complete their application or am I just really slow/fussy?). I then used cool water and a black Makeup Eraser removal cloth to remove the masks and was delighted by the result. My face was smooth and bright as expected, but I have very deep lines in my forehead and they were remarkably diminished after removing the mask. I have not noticed this effect from the Irish Moor Mud Mask before although the description does state that the mask helps with fine lines and wrinkles (however these hardly qualify as fine). I strongly suspect the Perk facial and the good night's sleep I had definitely played a role as well but I have rarely been so startled by my appearance in the mirror after removing a mask. My eyes were also refreshed and less puffy but I am more accustomed to that result from the Cucumber Gel Mask.
Double thumbs up to both the masks and the masking combo. While I do think the Cucumber Gel Mask is bit more niche, it does what it does very well. The Irish Moor Mud is one of the very best mud masks around and I’m glad for the push to get it back into my rotation because it deserves to be front and center.
I'm a complete sucker for masks on spatulas @Alphaboo. Love your photo! Thank you also for taking the time to post such a detailed review. The mud mask was new to me and it did not disappoint. Love, love love it.
Awesome review @Alphaboo ! Glad you're feeling a bit better and managed to get some time in for your facial!
Driving through rainstorms is so very stressful @Alphaboo. I, too, share your love for the irish moor mud mask. I really need to try the cucumber in the undereye area, as I definitely experience puffiness in the mornings.
It's funny you mentioned mask timing, because I was wondering that myself the other day. It does usually take me a few minutes to get a mask applied to my liking. I typically wait until I get it completely applied, and then start the time. Not sure if this is normal or not, but I figure it makes more sense so one portion of my face doesn't get neglected (and plus I don't have a clock in my bathroom).
Wonderful review @Alphaboo. And glad these masks worked wonderfully after your trip.
That drive sounds like quite the mess, but at least you were able to re-schedule the perk facial and enjoy that. Love this review, @Alphaboo. That's a great breakdown of the Irish Moor and how it can work well for your skin type.
