ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks -
Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I let my mini masker select a mask for me yesterday from my August Factory sub box. She asked what the night's plans were, and when I told her swimming, she selected this one as my skin would 'need some cleaning.' Clearing, cleaning, kinda the same, right? Anyways, it was a great choice though those with sensitive sniffers be warned!

Kiehl's, Dewytree, GR & LaneigeKiehl's, Dewytree, GR & Laneige

The KIEHL'S SINCE 1851 - Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask is my second favorite so far out of the Kiehl’s mini set, the Cranberry and Turmeric being my favorite. It reminds me subtle of the OH Instant Transformation Facial Peel in texture and scent (the Kiehl’s actually a bit more citrusy and the OH a bit plastic-y), though they have very different objectives. It was soothing for post being out in the hot sun and marinating in chlorine water Smiley Very Happy

Next up I removed the Dewytree AC CTRL Deep Mask Green Enzyme from the package. I had already combed the ingredients so I was anticipating it but whoa - the peppermint is prominent in this one! Which made me quite happy, but for those who are averse to the scent  - know that it has peppermint oil, extract, mentha leaf extract, Melissa - used in some of the breathe-easy oil blends out there and tea tree extract. It was wonderfully cooling and energizing to me, but @sonnydee this one is most definitely not for youSmiley Wink There was enough extra essence to pat onto my forehead and cheeks half-way through the masking.

The mask itself is that cozy, crazy-soft and smooth material akin to the Oozoo capsule mask sheets. The fit was remarkable and I could have fallen asleep in this one it was so, so enjoyable for me. Once removed, after around 30 minutes, I took a peek at my skin. A little tacky, forgivable for all of it’s other merits. I give it an A+ but again, if peppermint oil is not your thing, steer clear from this one. I finished with the Glow Recipe and LANEIGE - Lip Sleeping Mask. I am moving surprisingly fast on the lip mask, should finish it this month and then I will feel like I’ve made a decent dent in my stash.

oooo peppermint oil,, @eshoe I wouldn't mind that at all

Re: oooo peppermint oil,, @eshoe I wouldn't mind that at all

It’s  Christmas material, @lmaster🎄 😄

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I saw a few of these masks at TJ Maxx / Marshalls a couple months ago @eshoe. Nice to see them as part of your sub box. Dewytree makes some nice sheet masks; I first learned of the brand through @sonnydee. 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hmmm now that you mention it, I believe I saw a few Dewytree masks there as well, @itsfi. I haven’t been by there in awhile maybe I will take a little side trip this week. Just in case, you know. I might get lucky😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe  Wow, that dewytree sounds so nice. I may need to pick this one up!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The mask material itself is so soft, @PrettyPaint. I didn’t see on the package what it is, but I need to because I would love more masks like it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe  I've been wanting to try out this Dewytree line. So happy you liked this one! The Peppermint oil sounds wonderful!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I hope you received this one too, can't remember if you sub to this box @Shosh85. I would seek it out again, but it's a mask that you definitely have to be ready and in the mood for Smiley Wink

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Maybe good for a stuffy nose @eshoe but generally I wouldn't gravitate toward a mask that potent. Thanks for sharing.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

For a cold or allergies I prefer this one, @ShortErica. I find the Eucalyptus more calming.244D4C5C-4FBA-4FAF-9309-ED00858986F9.jpeg

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Week 32 - Aug 5 - 11 - F - Blind Pick

The opposite of blind pick, mask meetup. The group picked Biobelle Peachy. So glad I took it from Masks on the Move.

My face

20190810_203625.jpgI feel like my face looks super round so I went for a further away pic..yep, still feeling kinda like an oompa loompaI feel like my face looks super round so I went for a further away pic..yep, still feeling kinda like an oompa loompa

So my first impression of the mask wasn't the best. It was dripping in the sink as I unfolded it to put it on. I hate wasting serum. Next, the mask on didn't give me much self confidence. The smell was peach and maybe floral or perfumy. It would waft in and out while wearing. Mild to moderate level of intensity. The last thing that had me questioning the mask was the hyaluronic acid and peach extract were below the fragrance and rose extract.

The fit was okay. The fold happened to not line up so the mask looks quite odd on. I never thought I would see the day but I think the philtrum was too thick.

I wore it for 30 minutes. While wearing I felt a cooling sensation. It did unfold some while wearing which I didn't enjoy.

And now is where the mask says, what do you say ShortErica?! My forehead lines were reduced. My skin looked nice, even, plump. I maybe had the most minimal but really no tack. I used the extra serum on my neck, hands and arms. What a surprise and turnaround. Grade: B+. Because of the annoyances I won't seek it out but would use it again if it crossed my path.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica  Glad you enjoyed the final results. Yes, this once contained soooo much serum. I didn't know what to do with all of it!

@ShortErica mine also was pinched at the same spot,,,I did not like the material,, but loved the benefits 🙄

Re: @ShortErica mine also was pinched at the same spot,,,I di...

I was so surprised especially because of the ingredient order that the results were so nice @lmaster. Do you have a favorite BioBelle? I have quite a few in my stash I need to try.

Re: @ShortErica mine also was pinched at the same spot,,,I di...

@ShortErica stay gorgeous and unicorn shake were awesome

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That mask sounds peachy keen! @ShortErica

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica Love the pictures! 😍 Oompa Loompa is the first thing I thought of when I saw myself with it on! 😂 I enjoyed it overall, but would've preferred the tencel material more.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hmmmm, I'm about to get in on the Peachy action, @ShortErica and this doesn't sound too promising. Bummer about the fit/scent. I tried this one a few weeks ago so will be making note of what you mentioned.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Maybe I'll give you low expectations and it will end up good @eshoe!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Fit is a bit off and I see what you mean about the crease. Horizontal, right? Scent is pleasant enough though! Have you tried the watermelon one? Seems to me it fit better than this one does🤔
