Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888So many interesting things here... I haven't ever thought of steaming with herbs like that!  I'm not much of a steam gal myself but hey.. doesn't hurt to try something new every now and again! I'm glad you liked it!

I have a few dark spots that just keep coming back, (like you said, bad sunscreen use in my younger years), I've had a few lasered off about three years ago now but would love to know if the dots work to avoid the laser!  Please keep us up to date on these guys!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 I am so intrigued by the steam mask, I remember my Mom placing a pot of boiling water in front of her with a towel over her head Smiley Very Happy I love the idea of using the Marigold, I wonder if it's like a tea? I totally want to try that tonight, it sounds very relaxing. So happy to hear you like the YTTP, it's such an easy go-to sleeping mask that's pretty low-maintenance!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe it totally smelled like tea! Not sure it would have the same effect but I don't see why not either haha the ingredients are below and they all look pretty natural to me

Spoiler
Matricaria Chamomilla (Chamomile), Rosa Centifolia (Rose), Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Calendula Officinalis (Calendula), Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey), Vulgare (Fennel), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary), Urtica Dioica (Nettle)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh yes @Kim888 I am going to try that with some tea! That’s a really nice blend there 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 I'm in love with the YTTP mask! It is definitely my favorite! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it!

The steaming sounds like it was very successful! I remember thinking my older sister was crazy when I was younger, with her face in a bowl and towel over her head! Haha! I still think she's crazy, just not for that anymore. 😂😂

I've wondered about the Peace Out dots! They definitely sound promising!! 👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85  i feel like there was totally some 80s/90s sitcom where the older sister did it lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 You know, now that you mention it, that seems familiar!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 the steam mask sounds so cool! I've never tried that before!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster me either  - it was a fabfitfun add on that I got obsessed with but I convinced myself to just get the sample instead of buying something I wasn't sure I'd like!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooooo I'll have to keep an eye out for that again in FFF 😍 @Kim888  thanks for the heads up

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 A facial steam before a sheet mask is a game changer for me because it really clears out your pores so the ingredients from your mask can really penetrate your skin. <333

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I’m so intrigued by the Peace Out Dark Spots @Kim888! I, too, am trying to fade away some sun spots. 😔 The Dark Spots contain licorice extract which is good for lightening hyperpigmentation. Very interested in what you think of these Dark Spot dots.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Since yesterday’s attempt at a spa-like masking session was a fail (I'm thankful my skin escaped pretty much unscathed), I decided to go with what I know this morning and went with a bamboo theme.

IMG_5104.JPG

Spoiler

Eminence Organic Skin Care Bamboo Age Corrective Masque is one I’ve used before and like. The ingredients list is pretty clean and it softens and hydrates my skin nicely. It feels calming and soothing. After 10 minutes, my skin, especially in the under eye area, feels more tight (in a good way) and hydrated. I love the cool, minty sensation that comes with pressing my lips together after applying the FRESH - Sugar Mint Rush Freshening Lip Treatment - it's a nice one for keeping the lips soft and moisturized, and prepping lips for lipstick. Smiley Wink

Next up, it was "I" is or Innisfree, and I reached for Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask – Bamboo (Soothing). I didn’t have any redness or ill effects from last night’s sheet mask, but I thought a little soothing wouldn’t hurt. This mask is made of a cellulose that holds the watery essence very well. It’s on the thinner side as far as mask goes but not the thinnest mask by far. It has a soft, subtle refreshing scent; not overpowering in the least but the scent is noticeable, although it does fade away when you have it on. I kept the mask on for my usual half hour (10 minutes longer than the recommended 20) and after removing the mask and patting in the essence, my skin looked well-hydrated and I looked refreshed. My skin is slightly tacky to the touch but that disappears once I apply my moisturizer and makeup, both of which go on smoothly. In general, most of the sheet masks in this "My Real Squeeze" line from Innisfree are good; just be forewarned that some, not all, of the masks from the line may contain straight up alcohol in the first 5 ingredients listed. This bamboo one is NOT one of those masks. It's an "A" for me.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Good call sticking with something you know today @itsfi !  Good heads up to really look at the ingredients on the Innisfree masks before deciding to purchase or not!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie it’s easy for me to think that since I like a few masks in a line that I’ll like them all, or that the ingredients will be the same, so I just need to remind myself to look at ingredients. 😃 My skin doesn’t dry out all the time if there’s alcohol in a sheet mask but it’s good to know when it’s there so I can adjust my other skincare products to make sure my skin has extra hydration to counteract any ill effects the alcohol may cause.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thats a good plan @itsfi .  I tend to do the same and think "oh I like XYZ from their line, so I'll likely enjoy ABC as well."  I don't really completely avoid anything all together, but I like you, like to be aware of what's in stuff so that I can keep it in mind when pairing or making sure I don't go overboard on something in particular.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ahhhhh I am so glad you reviewed one of these Innisfree masks, @itsfi- I was very curious! I was looking at them (again, but didn't buy any) and noticed they are owned by AmorePacific so I'm not surprised it's an A mask! Bummer about the alcohol, see I wasn't even looking at the ingredients Smiley Very Happy When will I ever learn!

The Eminence Mask sounds very nice, you seem to use it on a regular basis - do you think you would repurchase it at some point?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, this Innisfree one does NOT have alcohol in it which is a big plus. 👍🏼 I think at some point I would repurchase a FS of the Eminence bamboo mask; when will just depend on how distracted I get by other masks the brand puts out! 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi the mint lippie is one I've not tried yet, sounds nice!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster, it’s a nice one. The minty cool feeling when I press my lips together is an added plus! 👍🏼

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Sounds like some good, solid masking! Which is just what you needed after the last masking fiasco! The Bamboo mask sounds lovely! I have the honey "My Real Squeeze Mask" and it does list alcohol as the 4th ingredient. I threw a bunch of my masks away that had alcohol in them, but this is one that made the cut! 🍯
