Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

I could see the chunks of fruit not agreeing with some people @itsfi I though I'd be freaked out by it, but the texture is not near as bad for me as I thought it would be 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  I've read several reviews on that Bano mask and I'm pretty sure they've all been positive! This one is on my list! Glad you enjoyed it!

The Fresh mask smells delicious! I'm not too keen on the fruit chunks either, but I agree the results are pretty good! @eshoe@lmaster and I were just discussing that name thing. It's weird how the tagged name is different than the actual name of the product 🤔

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, the Bano is a nice one; am interested in trying the other varieties in the line! Yeah, the way the Fresh mask is listed is weird; at first, I thought there was a rename and packaging redesign, but nope; it just shows up as Vitamin C Glow Mask.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

So many lovely masks, @itsfi! Chunks of ingredients don't usually bother me too much in masks, so I might have to try out the Fresh given the results. I can definitely understand not wanting to deal with them though since they can be a pain to remove sometimes.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork, the fruit bits are the only thing about the Fresh mask that don't agree with me so if you're fine with them, I definitely think you should try the mask out. The results really are good, and it does smell really nice! 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi,  the Glamglow Youthmud has bits of something in it.  I can relate to how you feel about the Fresh. It's one thing if the mask has a physical exfoliate, but I don't want things mucking up the mask, which is why I prefer the Supermud to the Youthmud.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u, I like the SuperMud over the YouthMud too for that reason. I can tolerate the bits in the YouthMud more than the Fresh because I use the YouthMud more as a spot treatment and not all over. Yes, physical exfoliating beads are fine but I'm always concerned that the larger bits will fall off around the house or will get stuck in my hair, etc.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

May Lindstrom and Mud. These are pictured together but did one in the AM and one in the PM. Just didn't want to photograph one little sample all by itself. 😉B87DEDC8-A052-456A-89A0-E106D8E8E71E.jpeg

May Lindstrom The Honey Mud

The directions state this can be used as a cleanser or an enzyme mask – I decided to try it as a mask. It is light-brown/beige color and has soft and creamy consistency. My first impression of the scent was that it was a little strange, not really bad at all, just kinda different. To me it kinda smells like raw honey and black licorice. It felt soothing as I spread it on my dry skin and it didn't really harden, it just kinda set up really sticky. Removal of it was pretty easy – after about 10 minutes I used warm water and massaged it in with my fingers as I rinsed it off and it turned into a very nice silky, milky consistency. My face looked brighter, had a less dull appearance and felt very soft and smooth. The hydration from this wasn't great, but also not bad considering it's a mud mask and my face usually gets uncomfortably dry from them. I liked this mask, and would use again, but not so sure it's wowing enough to buy the $90 full size jar. I think I'd give this an A-

B&BW Mud Mask 👇

Spoiler

Bath & Body Works Mud Mask

This is a brown, two-peice cotton sheet mud mask that comes sandwiched between two protective layers. The mask itself is pretty sticky and once it's on, there's not much moving around it'll do – I also got the brown "mud" all over my fingers when trying to place it. It had a nice fit – just not wide enough and the nose flap was a bit too long (just snipped a little off the end) The scent is the best part.... it smells like CHOCOLATE! I could smell it right when I opened the package. It was sooo good! It felt like I was wearing a sheet of chocolate on my face – I even almost licked my fingers after placing the mask! Haha! If any of you have ever used the Perricone MD Cocoa moisture mask, it smelled exactly like that. I removed the mask after about a half hour, when it started feeling dry/less sticky and felt stiff to the point it was hard to move my face around. It dried up so stiff, removing it was almost like removing a peel-off mask, just not as painful. There was some dried "mud" leftover on my face that I rinsed off easily with warm water. My complexion looked brighter and clearer, my skin felt soooo soft and I had a nice glow! I also felt a little dry afterward and had to place moisturizer right away, but I usually expect that with mud/clay type masks. The mask was fun to use, smelled amazing and gave pretty great results! If Bath & Body Works was still selling this mask I would definitely use it again! I give this an A grade.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds like you've had some great masks from B&BW @Shosh85 .  Do you find that as a brand they're pretty reliable across the board?  Chocolate sounds super yummy, I'll have to keep an eye out for another yummy one, they have a lot of yummy scents, there will surely be another yummy mask to come!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie The Mud Mask was sooo good! I would say the B&BW masks I have tried have all been pretty good! I just wish they weren't seasonal! 🙁

@Shosh85 I have to find the chocolate mask!! the may Lindstrom mask, so glad you reviewed this one, I have been contemplating this one as a sample as well 😆

Re: @Shosh85 I have to find the chocolate mask!! the may Lind...

@lmaster These were both so great! @itsfi posted a link below about the Honey Mud being reformulated. I'll be very interested in trying that out!

I looved the B&BW mask! It's too bad they don't sell it anymore, but I know sometimes you're able to find them on random sites. I'd definitely buy this one again! 🍫👍

Re: @Shosh85 I have to find the chocolate mask!! the may Lind...

I did read something about a new reformulation on the newness tab @Shosh85 I have had my eye on this for a couple weeks now

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Smells like chocolate??? That sounds like an absolutely delicious masking session then, @Shosh85! Too bad it's not a permanent mask for B&BW. That's been my biggest gripe with them over the last few years- they will come out with some lovely scent and then it disappears after a few months, never to be heard from again.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork I really do hate that about B&BW! There have been fragrances and masks I've fallen in love with, and when I go back to buy more, they're gone! It's happened a few times and it's pretty frustrating! Sometimes I'm able to find them on Ebay or Amazon, but there's usually a limited amount, so it's not like I can stock up🙁 I really loved the mud mask and that delicious chocolate scent! I know sometimes they bring back retired fragrances, but it'd be nice if they bring back some retired masks!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Both these masks sound wonderful @Shosh85! Love that the Bath & Body Works mud mask smells like chocolate - how great is that?! I wish B&BW started making certain of its masks part of a permanent line, instead of just seasonal collections.

I have a sample of May Lindstrom The Honey Mud from The Detox Market as well; haven't gotten around to using it and now, if I do, it'll likely be the last time I use it, in this version at least. Did you read about the brand's decision to look into a reformulation of the product? @sister13 put up a new post in Beauty News about information she received from May Lindstrom regarding The Honey Mud:

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Thanks for posting the link! I'll be very interested in seeing what the new formulation is like! I'm really starting to love May Lindstrom!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Last night I used the Microdelivery detoxifying oxygen peel from Philosophy.  I'll be honest, I used this to use the last application and get it into my empties.  I just didn't want it any more.  I never really felt like it did much for me.  You spread the black goo on your face, wait a few minutes then massage the white goo in which foams up to make a lovely grey goo on your face.  After a few minutes you're meant to scrape/shave the foam off with a little plastic stick that I usually just use as a scooper for jar products. I left the grey goo on for about a half hour while I lounged in the bath (I'm pretty sure the instructions say to wait for like 5 minutes).  Then I scrapped the goo off while having a post bath shower.  I have to say... my skin looked really nice after I got out of the shower.  It looked much more clear, pores looked closed, and I looked brighter over all.  My skin didn't feel overly dry at all, and was really soft.  Why didn't I like this before? The mess factor is something to take in for sure, but it wasn't too bad removing in the shower.

I followed up with the MasCeam sheet mask in firming.  I believe @keana1 used this one recently and mention that she loved it, so I had high expectations and it didn't disappoint!  This was a gift from @itsfi and I need to give her a huge THANK YOU!  My face loved this!  I've learned that snail juice is something I really like and it gives me some great moisture as did this mask.  It didn't have a significant scent, maybe a light sheet mask smell, but I couldn't smell anything after I had it on.  I did cut the bridge of the nose (as I do with a lot of masks) just to make it lay better, but it was otherwise a great fit. I had it on for abut 40 minutes and it was just starting to dry down in a few spots.  There wasn't a ton of leftover serum on my skin, but once it dried I had no tackyness at all and my skin felt very soft.  I had lots of left over serum and since I'd just put body lotion on I kept it to use this morning as a body lotion and arms still feel super soft at 3pm!

These were two great masks that based on last night I'd give an A+, my overall experience with the philosophy however would give it a B since I just wanted it gone and it's on the messy side.  I still might pick it up again sometime if i'm feeling it, but I'll remember to keep it on longer and take it off in the shower.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I loe the sound of a tacky-free mask, @missjeanie. The MasCream one sounds really nice! Though I might opt for one of the non-snail-y ones 😉
