Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yesterdays M masks were the Murad Hydro-Glow Aqua Peel and the Bliss Mighty Marshmallow!

Spoiler
I started off the day with the Bliss Marshmallow mask and accidently left it on for over an hour.... opps.  I honestly forgot I had it on.  I'm not sold on this giving me any amazing results, but I still feel like I got to do some masking, my face felt refreshed after I showered it off and I 'might' have looked a bit brighter for it.  Either way I'm glad to have this mask.  I like the texture of it and if i looked a little brighter/more radiant, I'm all for it. I might need to check out the other masks in this line next time I'm to a target.

The Murad mask was one that I had super high hopes for.  The clinicalness of the package made me think I was going to get a major peel.  I think my expectations were unnaturally high.  The giant cotton swab soaked in the peel actually smelled really nice in my opinion, a little sweet.  I rubbed as much of the liquid as I could over my face, I felt no tingling at all so I waited a few minutes to put the moisture infusion mask on.  Still no tingling.  The mask fit well, though the eye holes could have been a touch bigger.  I went to lay down after putting this on and ended up leaving it on for about 45 minutes.  There was a thin layer of serum left to massage in and my skin did feel very hydrated at this point.  Since I was in bed I just put some DE lala over this and went to sleep.  My skin this morning was very nicely hydrated so no complaints there.  As far as looking as though I'd just had a peel... well... my fine lines didn't look too bad this morning, and my texture didn't look bad either.  I'm sure this would work better with continued use on texture and fine lines, but I can't complain today either.  I still have four of these left and I'll gladly use them up.  I feel like my skin did get some exfoliation, but it was also extremely gentle.  The peel probably could have been stronger for my tastes, but the hydrating sheet mask was very nice and they should consider selling just the sheet mask for us dry skinned folks! I had been 'saving' this mask to use on a day where I knew I could do some damage control after if need be and now I'm glad to know that I can use it anytime.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I feel the same as you on the Marshmallow mask @missjeanie; sometimes it's just nice to get some masking in! Interesting about the Murad; I didn't realize there was actually a sheet mask included with it. Doesn't sound bad, but not something I'd run out and buy. Maybe 😄

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoeI'd say that if you happened across them at a reasonable price (TJ's etc), it would be a solid choice to pick up.  But I wouldn't be putting in online orders at full price by any means.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Good to know @missjeanie. I did see the Murad at my store recently but passed due to the retinol I’m still using.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe How have you been doing with the DE Passioni? I kinda gave up after forgetting to take it traveling for a week last month.  I sort of decided to take a bit of a break from trying and maybe get back into it next month.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie I took a break from it for a week as well, just got started again this week. So I don't put it on my temples at all anymore, because it caused tenderness even after diluting (still doing about 50/50 with the La La). So the texture bit concerned me, but I chalked it up to some sort of 'purging' process, or the skin looking worse before getting better. It did get slightly better, from far, if that makes sense. My skin also started looking shinier than normal - which I read can happen. I felt like while my skin looked taut/more smoothed from a distance, up close, it actually seemed to add texture.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I hear you @eshoe I think that my texture was getting a bit worse, so I want to take a bit of a break to see if it was one off or not as well.  Good luck with starting back again!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@naturalooks15 wondering if you have noticed increased texture as well over the long-term, like @missjeanie and I🤔

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe @missjeanie  I have not noticed increased texture. Rather the opposite (some unexplained bumps disappeared).

@eshoe To you point I will check if I see increased texture up close but from far my skin is radiant. Though I am continuing with 3-4 days gap and not increasing frequency.

I also added squalane oil to my routine and liking it. Will report back when I have bit more time on hand.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @naturalooks15. I’ve set it aside for awhile to see if my skin returns to normal. Will keep checking in though @missjeanie

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe @When you say texture? Do you mean bigger pores/pores becoming more prominent & visible? Or is it wired growth.

Asking because I had that kind of reaction to Sunday Riley Good Genes (pores started looking so big like I was looking at 5X mirror when I was just looking at my plain mirror). After 4th night I was very concerned and just stopped it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

At first my pores did appear somewhat smaller @naturalooks15. But as I continued using it, while my pores themselves seemed smaller, it looked like the skin around them was becoming raised. So it was definitely not smoothing my skin. It was most noticeable on my forehead. I’ve taken a break from it for awhile to see if my skin returns to normal.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@naturalooks15 @eshoe  for me it was more growths than my pores.  My dermatologist told me at one point what they're called, they can look a bit like a tiny pimple, but they're clogged pores I believe.  She did tell me that a retinol (or retinoid, I never remember which is which) should help with them and I was on a prescription strength creme.  When I got the DE AP I stopped using my prescription and started using the DE.  I set aside the DE AP like eshoe and am giving it a few weeks using only my DE TLC as an active at night.  I haven't seen a ton of improvement this way, but I haven't seen anything new pop up either.  I'll give it a few more weeks then start up slowly again.  I may have been too aggressive with using the AP too often?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie, I have a box of the Murad from a TJ Maxx run a few months back; I like the results you got from it (hello hydration!) and look forward to trying it out to see how it fares with continual use.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfithe amount of hydration from the sheet mask portion was certainly unexpected and welcome!  Even without feeling as though I got a major peel in, its still a winner for the hydration alone.  I hope you end up liking them, I'll look forward to seeing your review as well!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ohhh, that sounds wonderful @missjeanie! I don’t know if my skin has ever gotten too much hydration! 💦😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie I agree with you on the Bliss – not sure if it has any amazing results, but the fun texture feels nice and gives you a nice refreshed feeling! There are so many other masks from this line to choose from, it's so hard to decide which to buy next, they all sound good!
