ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That's a fabulous idea @PinkEvergreen! I love multi-masking! ❤️

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi sounds like this one is a winner! I love how the gel masks feel once I get them on but agree they can be difficult to maneuver for sure!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Agree @Kim888, once I get the hydrogels on, I'm usually fine; getting to fit on my face is a comical endeavor. Fortunately this one was pretty easy peasy and didn't end up on the bathroom floor.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This sounds like a great one @itsfi. I'm really into the mushroom/adaptogenic blends lately, so this sounds very nice. That's interesting about the recommended time for this one - I don't think I've seen much in that time range before.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PrettyPaint, I've used a few skincare products with mushroom as a key ingredient and my skin has responded well to it. Really liked the BLITHE - Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum. I had to do a double take when looking at the recommended wear time; I don't think I've seen such a long time range before this one.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oooh thanks so much @itsfi. I'm looking up the blithe right now! 🙂  My skin likes mushrooms too!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi

@itsfi glad it worked for you!! Sounds like a mask I need to put on the "to try" list!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@m3rc3d3s, I'm happy it worked out too. I like ginseng as a skincare ingredient and I liked that the hydrogel was not super slippery so it was a nice combo.

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooh @itsfi this sounds awesome

Re: RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It was a good one @Weetart! Looking forward to using more masks from this brand.

Tonight's masks:

So today I thought- what would be the harm in stopping by the Winners near my work on the way home? See what they have? I haven't been there in years. Big harm. 💰💰 They were stocked to the teeth with beauty items, and I started to recognize the brands from being on the masking and haul threads.  I've never tried hydrogel masks before. This is mask No. 6. I didn't know what to expect.  I opened and pulled the mask out. Except all that came out was a white plastic backer. Half a mask backer? I looked inside. I saw mask. I reached in and pulled out a slimy clear plastic piece with a jelly wrapped around it. I opened it up and decided to read the back of the package. You know, the part that has the instructions for complicated masks such as this? The mask started sliding out of my hand and off the clear plastic. I whipped it onto my face over my forehead. It's  stuck there forever now.  I try to adjust. This mask has sticking power.  Finally I succeed. Ok, now I know what's coming next. The bottom part of the mask. I reach in and fish out the slimy sandwich of plastics and hydrogel mask. Success! I think to myself, all pieces intact. Except the mask was sliding out of my hands. I threw the package into the sink and started to open up the lower half. This is complicated. I have a degree but it is neither in mask-making or mask-application. Maybe I picked the wrong degree for a time like this. The white backer slides off. I finish unfolding it and slap that baby onto my face. I'd like my mouth for breathing. Try to adjust mask. This mask better be worth it. Wonder if snails have this much sticking power as this mask sure can stick to my face. And itself. Boy it really fits the curves of the face. Except the lower half slid down just enough to cover my upper lip over 5 times. I stopped counting after that.  It stayed in place as it began to dry down. No serum left. I looked at the transparent sheets, then wiped them all over my arms and backs of hands. The mask smelled fresh, like fresh plants? The smell lingers. The result?  My skin feels hydrated and glowing.  Fair warning on the application!

The snail hydrogel eye masks were lovely.  They stuck on and didn't move. Snail Mucus is the 5th ingredient I believe? My eyes feel freshened and hydrated. This is the first undereye mask I've used.

oh my @l8totheparty sounds like a lot of work! glad you seen some nice results

Re: oh my @l8totheparty sounds like a lot of work! glad you s...

Totally comical! @lmaster

Re: oh my @l8totheparty sounds like a lot of work! glad you s...

@l8totheparty you definitely have a great attitude 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@l8totheparty  I have yet to visit my local Winners for mask supplies and now I’m a bit afraid lol 😂 How was the fit on the eye patches? Were you able to get them close to your lower lash line? Sometimes I find that patches in jars curve too sharply and aren’t suited to almond-shapes eyes.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I got them right up to my lash line, but hydrogel can pull and shape a bit. Different than cotton. @PinkEvergreen

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hydrogels are pretty tricky @l8totheparty. And slimy. And I can never keep the bottom half on, either - I usually just end up removing it after a few minutes of being annoyed it it 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@l8totheparty What a fun review to read! I think a lot of us have had a similar experiences to yours with those hydrogels - it's great the results were worth the effort!

I have those eye masks, except in the pearl version and they work great! If I ever make a dent in these I'll have to try the snail sometime- it sounds wonderful! 🐌

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm going to put mine in the fridge @Shosh85

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@l8totheparty That's a good plan. I am currently keeping all my eye masks in the fridge now! 👍😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I’m glad this one gave you some results since it was so difficult to apply @l8totheparty
