ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sorry this one wasnโ€™t better @lmaster, at least it didnโ€™t smell like kale.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ikr!! @faeriegirl like the algae SC mask ๐Ÿคฃ

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Unless a mask is going to pay my bills or go to work for me... I'm not too sure how to figure out how less stressed it can make me @lmaster ! lol too bad you seem to have had a pretty meh run on masks the last few days.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie I'm LMAO!!! That's too funny girl

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ain't that the truth about masks. @missjeanie

RE: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This one sounds like one I may need to look into in the late summer @lmaster. Sorry it wasnโ€™t a standout for you.

Re: RE: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

For sure @itsfi it's a really nice hydrating mask

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooh Iโ€™m glad the scent wasnโ€™t vegetably. @lmaster  I shy away from anything that says โ€œkaleโ€ because I absolutely hate the smell, taste, and texture of it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This one was not bad @Weetart  but not super impressed either

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Saturday masking. the Missha Green Tea sheet mask worked well enough but it smelled too strong for my liking. Iโ€™d use it again. But wonโ€™t go out of my way to purchase it. The Ulta champagne strawberry peeling is one of my all time favs and my face is so happy and smooth and even toned after using it. I have a huge stock of these bad boys. The strawberry s were fun and I put it on spots I like to give a little extra attention to. But itโ€™s really was just for fun, my skin was very hydrated so I didnโ€™t want to waste a heavy duty mask. Eye mask is standard, works. Now I tried the Holika Holika wine therapy Sleeping Mask for the first time and, lol, i couldnโ€™t get it out of my head that I smeared grape jelly all over my face and neck. There was no way I could fall asleep with that thought I smeared smuckers all over so this is going to become a wash off mask. It was okay as a wash off, might be a good sleeping mask, but I wonโ€™t ever find out. After washing the jelly off I went with Laneige face and lip.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Weetart What a great masking line up! I haven't tried an Ulta mask before, but sounds like I should start with this one!

I actually like the idea of spreading smuckers on my face, but I don't think I'd like sleeping with on either!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The ulta strawberry and champagne mask sounds great @Weetart!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ha ha!  Smuckers all over your face @Weetart ! Great multi-masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

lol thanks @missjeanie

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Fabulous multi-masking @Weetart! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’• I have that wine jelly sleeping mask but havenโ€™t opened it up yet and found your review very helpful. I lolโ€™ed when I read the part about smearing Smuckers on your face. Hahahaha! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ Definitely donโ€™t want to go to bed with what amounts to grape jelly on my face. ๐Ÿ˜

Re: RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

lol @itsfi when you open it up you will see what I mean. Itโ€™s the exact same texture.

Re: RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Weetart, when I think Smuckers, I also think of these jelly beans they used to make; they were the best jelly beans ever. They stopped making them a long time ago ... I'm assuming it made better business sense for them to focus on jam, jelly and preserves, but my goodness, those jelly beans were delicious! ๐Ÿ™‚ lol.

Re: RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh my goodness I forgot about those @itsfi ! They were delicious

sounds like a nice masking session @Weetart

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Friday Night Masking

Spoiler
I started off with the I Dew Care Berry Bubbly mask.  This was part of a 5 pack set from I dew care and it was probably the best size I could pick up!  I got one full face mask out of this little guy and probably have enough left for another half of a face.  Each of the 5 masks are 7g.  So a deluxe sample size ish.  I put this on and it started to bubble up fairly quickly.  It started off as dense little bubbles with no scent.  As I sat with it on the bubbles started to feel like they were dripping off my face, a quick mirror check indicated that it was just that the bubbles were growing and popping.  I left this mask on way too long.  The directions said 5-10 minutes, but I was at about a half hour.  Seems I'm incapable of following time directions.  When I went to wash it off, massaging as I went (as instructed), I found the mask took some work to get off, this could be that I was just impatient, or that since I Ieft it on too long it dried down a lot more. Once it was off (it really didn't take that much time), I didn't notice a single difference to my skin than if I'd just washed it.  I'm left thinking this is more of a gimmicky fun product. I'll use up the rest of this jar either multi making some time or on my nieces who like to play beauty shop when they come over. I'm fingers crossed the other clay style masks are more up my ally.
I got home and was too tired to wait for a sheet mask to be done before I fell asleep, so I opted to try out the Holika Holika Honey Sleeping Pack.  My skin quite likes honey in masks/skincare, and I've been enjoying the Holika Holika brand so I had high hopes for this.  There was no honey scent to it, and it had an interesting texture.  When I scooped out some of the product, it almost had a string going back into the jar.  Kind of like cheese on a pizza?  But when I rubbed it into my skin, it had a great slip to it that I quite enjoyed.  I really felt like putting this on and massaging it in felt quite luxurious and relaxing.  My skin looked good the next morning.  This performed as I would expect any sleeping mask to do.  It's not the best one I've tried, but it's no where near the bottom of the list.  I'm quite happy with this jar and will use it gladly.  Will I repurchase?  Probably not, only due to there being so many masks out there to test out.  This jar will no doubt last me a year anyhow.
