Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

They all sound great @itsfi! I just got the rose lip balm now I want to get the honey too!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The rose lip balm is very nice @faeriegirl! I've really enjoyed all the lip balms / scrubs in the line that I've tried!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u, the Tatcha and AP powders have different textures. The Tatcha one, to me, is denser and grittier, even though it is pretty finely milled; it feels grittier on the skin compared to the AP peel. The Tatcha one feels like a gentle scrub while the AP granules are so finely milled that when you add water to it, it turns into a foam and the exfoliation feels even more gentle than the Tatcha one. I've used the Tatcha powder before, as well as the Dermalogica one, the boscia one and one other Kbeauty one that I can't recall at the moment and my favorite of them is the AP peel.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Your review makes me even more excited to try the Papa Recipe masks I have, @itsfi! I didnโ€™t realize also that the AP could be used twice a day-that does sound alike a lot, I agree. Plus imagine how much faster youโ€™d go through your stash if you used it that way๐Ÿ˜„ It is lovely for sure๐Ÿ’—

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I thought twice daily with the AP peel sounded like it was too much @eshoe, but it says to use as a cleanser day and night. I suppose it could be used that frequently as it's so gentle, but I like to incorporate peels and other chemical exfoliants into my skincare routine so every day, even if just once per day, would still be too much.  Which Papa Recipe masks do you have? The Black Honey one is really nice for dry skin. The rose gold one has a pretty honeycomb design on it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh, the green honey sounds right up my alley, @itsfi! I can't wait to try that one out!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I think you'd like it @quspork! The essence in it is not too heavy and makes it work for more than just dry skin.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Your love for the Sephora lip scrubs has me eagerly waiting the spring sale so that Honey can come home to mama @itsfi !

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Their lip scrubs are great for use every day and night because they're that gentle, @missjeanie. I still like to use a grittier lip scrub once a week, but that and the honey lip scrub for maintenance throughout the week makes for nice, soft, smooth lips. โค๏ธ

wow this sounds great @itsfi I need this volcano on my cheek to get going ๐Ÿคฃ

Re: wow this sounds great @itsfi I need this volcano on my ch...

@lmaster, do you have a clay/mud mask or a mask with salicylic acid in it that you could use as a spot treatment? Or the PEACE OUT - Acne Healing Dotsor something similar to it?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I'm ready to look like a fool. Is the SEPHORA COLLECTION - Lip Balm & Scrub a scrub or a balm or how is it both? I know you and many others ( @eshoe  off the top of my head) have shared varieties of it and enjoy the product. My sample of the BITE BEAUTY - Agave Sugar Lip Scrub seemed nice at first and then ended up tearing my lips so I've been thinking I should invest in a gentle scrub for occasional lip exfoliation.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica the Sephora lip scrubs are incredibly gentle. When I modest tried the Honey Scrub, I was confused because it seemed more like a balm; there were only a few exfoliating granules. As I used it, I hit a patch of them. They were not evenly dispersed! They are similar (in my mind) to the fresh sugar lip scrubs but much more economical.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I may need to give it a try. Though I wish they would have the granules evenly distributed so the experience would be consistent. @eshoe

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Me too @ShortErica I recall someone else noticing it as well. Still a great product in my mind, especially for the price.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh nooo @ShortErica, the BITE is tearing up your lips?!! I'm so sorry to hear that. Betrayed by your lip scrub. Boo! Do you think it's just the BITE scrub or the combination of the harsh winter cold is making the product more rough?

Great question - the Sephora Collection has several different flavors - the honey and the kiwi ones are the two that are both a balm and a scrub. Both are very, very gentle. My kiwi one seems to have lost its scrubbiness (sigh), but I like it as a balm so it's fine. The other flavors in the collection are just balms - rose, gogi, banana, watermelon, coconut, rose, tangerine ... there may be other flavors I'm forgetting to mention.  @Shosh85 has the entire lip balm/scrub collection - it's a beautiful sight to behold! โค๏ธ

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I love my Sephora Lip Balm rainbow! It looks like you're missing the nuts, macadamia and almond ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‰

It does seem like the scrubs don't stay scrubby, but when they are scrubby it's very gentle ....  and delicious! @ShortErica

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Your Sephora Collection lip balm rainbow is so pretty @Shosh85! Oh yes! Forgot about macadamia nut balm. Wait?Thereโ€™s an almond one? I didnโ€™t even know they had an almond one.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I'm in Florida so no harsh winter here. I used the scrub last year and enjoyed it but then later as I was using it this fall and into this year I noticed my lips would have tears on them and then they would be dry and damaged. I think this is partially my fault because I probably used more gel vs. sugar when I started and now what's left has a much higher sugar vs. gel ratio. Still the sugar causing tears is troublesome. I have read the stupid instructions a million times to make sure I'm not doing some type of user error and making the milky foam but still would get cuts.

In February I had a really bad bunch of lip stuff going on and I'm still trying to determine why. I did figure out the lip scrub was at least a part of the problem with a few separate attempts after my lips were healthy. It was good to find one culprit but I've been waiting to test the BITE BEAUTY - Agave Lip Mask.

I know some people are allergic to the Bite products but I didn't think it was me. For holiday 2017 I bought the bite kit that had the lip mask, balm and scrub. The balm was okay, I ended up being anti-scrub, but the lip mask was a total LOVE. So this holiday I purchased the lip mask trio. I really hope I haven't developed an allergy to one of the ingredients in the lip mask because I enjoyed it so much last year. I am trying to finish off the bite birthday gift lip crayon in glace and notice that when I wear it my lips don't go crazy but the bottom of my lower lips tends to be flaky. I'm not sure what that indicates.

I guess I'll see what happens with more experimentation. Thanks for your insight about the Sephora balm/scrub!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This one follows the "BIC made me do it" theme. I'm really liking both the Yadah brand and the snail secretion filtrate in masks, so after seeing @missjeanie review this one a couple times and then finding it at TJ Maxx, I knew it was fate. Haha! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘D0A40AC0-5CA1-41DF-B07A-D47078B42548.jpeg

Spoiler

Yadah Collagen Mask Pack

This is a cotton sheet mask of about medium thickness and had a good amount of serum. It didn't really have a discernible scent, just sort of that signature sheet mask kinda smell. The fit was pretty good โ€“ just a bit long at the chin and the eye holes were just a little too narrow for my preference. The adherence was good but not great โ€“ the chin part had to be patted down several times. I kept it on for about 25 minutes and when I removed it there was still some serum left on my face that was a little tacky. Both the serum and tackiness absorbed pretty quickly and my skin felt soft and smooth. My face looked less dull and felt perfectly refreshed and hydrated โ€“ and the hydration lasted a long while. This is a good solid mask and I give a good solid A!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 snail ๐ŸŒ is so great for the skin isnโ€™t it? Yadah makes some nice skincare, I use a foaming cleanser of theirs that I ๐Ÿ’—, itโ€™s so gentle on my dry skin. Yay for Yadah๐Ÿ˜„
