Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u I'm happy to hear this thread has got you to mask more! Before I joined the thread I was hardly masking at all, maybe 1-2 times a week – now I'm masking pretty much every day! The weekly themes are what really drew me in, they really make masking fun and keep me motivated!

I was so curious about this foot mask! It sounds fantastic! I'm so happy it worked for you! I remember being super surprised when I tried a foot peel and saw my feet peeling a few days later too! It kinda just takes a second to realize what's going on! Haha!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u  I was in the same boat as you, I was masking every now and again, usually once or twice a week and it was fine, but it's become fun thanks to this thread.  I actually joined in the hopes of using up some of the masks I had on hand... I think i had about 6 sheet masks at the time... lol.

The peppermint sounds like a lovely addition for a foot mask.  Cooling on the feet after a long day must have been nice!  Glad you still got some exfoliation happening!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

6, @missjeanie 😳? Probably much easier to store than 300😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe I did a quick count last night as I was trying to corral them all into a few places in lieu of randomly tucked where ever... I'm just over 300 sheets.  I blame this thread entirely.  However I also blame it for my new love of masking and my skin looking pretty darn good compared to 2017/18!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Lol it’s easy to amass that many @missjeanie. Sounds like a lot, I know! Yay for happy skin😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u, yaaaay! So happy to hear that masking is fun and that you've been seeing results from regular masking. 🙂 I never knew B&BW made exfoliating foot peels! That is exactly the reaction I have when I use foot peels and it starts the flaking process - surprise, like "oh, what is this?!" and then I remember and wait happily for the old skin to shed to make way for baby soft skin! 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u  I hadn’t seen this before. The peppermint aspect seems really appealing.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

My last "M" mask for the week. Maca Root and Double MoistureC0199501-F0F2-4250-B114-356E22F8F66A.jpeg

Spoiler

The Creme Shop Maca Root Face Mask

This is a thin-medium cotton sheet mask that was soaking with serumand had a sort of perfumy, fresh and clean scent. I'm guessing the perfume scent I was smelling came from the added fragrance listed in the ingredients. It wasn't bad at all and not too strong either. I asked my husband what it smelled like, because I was hoping to pinpoint it a little better, and he said, "lotion"..... well, that's not very helpful. Haha! 😂

Like the others from this line, the mask was large all the way around and was also too wide between the eyes. Despite the large fit, it was pretty comfortable and besides having to pat the chin down a couple times, it adhered well. I left it on for about 30 minutes. When I removed it, there was still a little serum left on my face that was maybe just slightly tacky, but it all absorbed pretty quickly. My skin felt soft and smooth, and had a more awake, less dull type of look. The hydration from this was excellent and lasted for quite sometime. This one gets an A-

Leaders Mediu Amino Double Moisture Mask

Thisis very thin cotton sheet mask, that was dripping with serum. I actually had shake it out a little bit, so it wouldn't drip all over me. It had a very light, fresh and clean scent, that wasn't noticeable while the mask was on. It had a pretty good fit great – just too long at the chin. It adhered very well and was comfortable to wear. Because of how saturated the mask was, I ended up having it for about 50 minutes. After removing it, there was still a ton of serum on my face and it was super sticky. I waited a bit to see what it'd do, but the stickiness didn't go away, so I placed some moisturizer and that helped. If you are someone who really doesn't like tackiness, you probably wouldn't like this one much. My skin felt very refreshed and my complexion looked less dull. I'd say the claims for deep hydration and double moisture were true, because my face stayed hydrated all daytime – it was super comfortable and happy. Next time my face is feeling uncomfortably dehydrated, this will definitely be the mask I turn to. I'm not one to turn down a mask because of tackiness, but this one was crazy sticky, so I'm subtracting points for that and giving it an A-

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 the maca root seems interesting!! I have a friend who was struggling with hormonal and cystic acne for a long time, and a naturopath suggested she take maca root (along with some other dietary supplements and changes) to help, and she noticed MASSIVE improvement!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@cianni  That's great to hear! I was reading up about Maca Root and found out it has SO many health benefits and skincare benefits! I'm thinking I might try and hunt down more products with maca root! 👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Bummer to hear about how tacky the Leaders mask is, @Shosh85; you seem pretty ok with it in general so for it to be too much for you lets me know it’s a lot. I have this one, so I appreciate the heads up!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe Yeah, tackiness really isn't ever a problem for me, but this was just super sticky! I didn't feel like my face needed any moisturizing after this mask, but I added some just so my hair and cat fur would stop sticking in it! 😉😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ok yes @Shosh85 that’s a bit too tacky for my tastes 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I get the 'lotion' smell your husband is talking about.  It seems to me that most generic jergens/vasaline etc. lotions all kinda smell the sameish.  The hydration on that Leaders mask sounds amazing.  I'm never particularly bothered by tackiness either @Shosh85  so this one will go on my list!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie Actually, that's super funny, because I told him, "well that's not very helpful," so then he said, "Jergens" Haha! We do have Jergens at home that did sort of resemble the scent, but that still doesn't really help me describe it well. He is a guy, so I guess I'm not too surprised at that answer, especially with this particular guy! 😂😂😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, I completely know what your husband means about the sheet mask smelling like  “lotion” - it’s a distinctive generic smell! 🤣 Oh yes, I’m reminded about the largeness of the masks in that line from The Creme Shop - a lot of the masks from that line definitely have a lot of “extra” going for it! 😂🤣

I like the sound of deep hydration and double moisture from the Leaders mask but the super sticky feeling doesn’t sound as great. It makes me wonder if the inclusion of particular ingredient(s) are more likely to result in stickiness or tackiness; or, if the absence of certain ingredient(s) will mean there will be a sticky or tacky feeling after removing the mask.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Sometimes my husband is helpful in helping to describe the scent and other times he says things like, "pledge" or "lotion." Haha! I had to remind him that not all lotion smelled the same! 😂😂

I wasn't expecting that level of stickiness in the Leaders mask! I'd be interested to know what it is that makes masks sticky/tacky, especially this sticky!

2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm going with M for moisturizing.. Friday morning used another the creme shop mask this one is the charcoal almond mask. it's black cotton I think. it was pretty decently saturated in serum. the fit was nice, scent I can't really recall much of a overpowering scent of anything. left it on for 10 minutes, and after removing my pores at first did seem smaller, not so much of the moisturizing claim. since it does have alcohol, I won't repurchase this one. I'd rate it a c- due to the alcohol and didn't notice any moisturizing benefits.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Dang this looks like a mask that's idea is better than it's execution. Two masks in one sounds great but a C- says a different story. Thanks for sharing @lmaster

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I know @ShortErica great concept just not so great ingredients

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster I still have this one to try and have only been putting it off because charcoal products tend to dry me out a little bit, even if there isn't alcohol in it. At least the alcohol isn't in the first line of ingredients like a lot of the others are! Sorry to hear you hit another dud!
