Good to see you @MCSSavvy! 👋🏼😃 So sorry to hear you’re battling migraines. ☹️
I’m so intrigued by the Biossance retinol product - low how they paired the retinol with the squalane; that combo sounds like a great way to combat the drying, peeling and redness issues retinol can present. Using the Omega repair cream on top of it is a great way to add even more hydration. I’m about to start trying a very low dose retinol serum and if that doesn’t work out for my skin, I think I’m going to try the Biossance retinol.
@itsfi - I tried the DE retinol several times over the winter and thought initially my skin was dry hence my forary into the YTTP sleep mask which you know I adore. I put it aside for ages then decided to return it, something told me it wasn't for me and I wasn't using gobs - just an ittty-bitty, really itty-bitty amount for the forehead and bridge. One of SA's told me everyone in their store had issues with it which surprised me so I returned it. Another SA had said a lot of good things about the phyto-retinol so I thought I'd give it a try since it sounded gentler. I used it all over my face without any irritation or redness. I know it is too soon to see results but I think I'm going to grab a bottle to try it out. Definitely worth a few samples to try and see what you think!
Thanks so much @MCSSavvy for sharing your experience with both the DE and Biossance retinol products. I picked up some samples of a Paula's Choice serum with retinol in it - it's a very, very, very small amount so we'll see. I plan to work my way up to something like the Biossance - my skin has historically not reacted well to retinol products, even 0.5% so I need to start with something with an even less concentration of retinol and that's infused in another medium (like a serum or oil), so my skin can get accustomed to it.
@itsfi -- I completely understand! I plan of using the phyto-retinol sparingly and very slowly to start as it sounds like you are doing with Paula's Choice - because it is better to be safe than sorry, as you know! Let me know how it goes with Paula's Choice. 🙂
Will do @MCSSavvy! Hope the Biossance works out for you - it sounds like a fabulous formulation!! ❤️
@MCSSavvy Oh man, migraines are the worst – and for 25 days?! That's horrible! I'm so sorry you're going through that! 🙁
Thank you for your thoughts on these – they both sound great! I've been interested in trying out the phyto-retinol! glad to hear you've enjoyed it so far! I love your nightly routine👍😉
@Shosh85 -- Thank you! I'm really enjoying Biossance in my nightly routine. I think the YTTP sleep mask will be a HG for winter but Biossance is light enough but moisturizing enough in spring/summer to be just right day and night. 🙂
So I woke up a bit early yesterday (no one was more surprised than myself), so I put the Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask 5 oz on for about 20 minutes before going in with my day time skincare/make up. My skin was already looking pretty good from the previous nights Philosophy Microdelivery Peel and Mas Cream firming sheet mask. The PTR mask wasn't as sticky or messy to apply as I thought it would be for some reason. The scent from the jar wasn't one that I loved, but I could see how others will. I couldn't smell it once it was on anyhow. I'm not 100% sure if the 20 minutes did anything, but it felt nice to get a morning mask in and my skin felt soft!
I had a crazy day where I didn't get home until after midnight and so I figured I'd still make it an M mask by using the Hi-Pro-Pac Japanese Matcha Green Tea Hair Masque. The mask had a very subtle scent to it, that I really liked. It wasn't exactly like green tea or matcha, but it was light, what I'd call a nice shampoo scent lol (am I the only one that thinks shampoo has a signature scent kind of like the sheet mask scent?) . I used about 1/3 of the package after shampooing and probably only left it in for 2-3 minutes, my hair was easier to brush after (I know.. I know... not good to brush wet hair lol). My hair goes down just past the middle of my back and I found the Garnier masks needed some help from the Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat Protectant Leave In Conditioner Primer 8.5 oz/ 25...in order to brush through after. This pack did great on its own. I believe there are a few others that were in the display rack, I would't mind giving them a shot now having seen how nicely this one works.
I finished off the night by crawling into bed with a layer of the PTR Rose Cell mask over my skincare as a sleeping mask. It sank in pretty quickly from what I recall and my pillows looked fine this morning. I feel like even though I didn't get enough sleep, my skin looked bright this morning and felt nice, even if I felt like I needed a gallon of caffeine.
Clearly I'm not the person able to commit to just one mask, however if I was looking for a great starter mask for someone who didn't have any particular concerns, I think this would be a good candidate since it can be used multiple ways, was easy to apply/remove, and I felt my skin looked better than without.
That hair mask sounds really interesting, @missjeanie! I also love the idea of using the rose mask as a sleeping mask. I might have to try that out soon!
I found a few people in reviews talking about being quite indifferent to the mask when using it as a wash off mask, but loving it as a sleeping mask. Sleeping masks lately have been my jam so I had to give it a go. Great way to get a mask in when you're just so tired or don't have time etc etc @quspork . I'd be curious to know how you like it that way if you give it a try!
There are a few other PTR masks I'd love to try as well @byme4u , the Pumpkin and Irish Mud are on the list! Have you tried either of those ones? The Rose is typically not something I'd gravitate to as I'm not fond of most floral scents or overly 'gel' like masks (reminders of being a kid and being slathered in green aloe gel in the summer maybe?), but I was pleasantly surprised at liking it.
@byme4u I totally get that some people prefer other masks.i do love Rose scented anything, and this one makes my skin feel so healthy and soft, so I love it 😉😜
I was so nervous about not liking this because of the rose scent @lmaster but I found that it dissipated so quickly after application that I barely noticed it!
Good to know @missjeanie
@missjeanie, wow! I’m so impressed that you masked after getting home so late!! That’s commitment, girl! 👏🏼👊🏼🙂 I completely understand what you mean by a signature shampoo scent; there’s a scent that is just so familiar and common to shampoo. Would you repurchase the matcha green tea hair mask?
@itsfiI would re-purchase. I think this was only a couple of dollars at Walmart USA. I have one other from the brand "Natural Henna & Placenta Hair Moisture" that I'll try out as well, but for around 3$ I'd grab more. I'm pretty sure there were other versions as well that I'd probably try out first just for variety's sake, but it'll be something I pick up again!
@missjeanie, I think it's telling when a mask is something you'd repurchase! 🙂 Hmmm, placenta hair mask? Well, "P" will be the letter of the week soon and we do have some week(s) later in the year that could be suitable for a hair mask like that. LOL!
@itsfiI actually grabbed it when my SO pointed out that it had placenta in it while walking by when I happened to be talking about gross week. It's soy placenta upon review, so not as gross as originally intended, but perfect for P week!
@missjeanie, good looking out by the SO. 🙂
Lol.. he was into how gross, gross week could/would get @itsfi ! Offered up some motor oil, cleaning supplies, and deli meat among others for testing purposes all week lol. I don't think he's given a thought to much of my masking, save gross week and the full body mask now come to think of it.
