Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Friday PM

IMG_5260.JPG

Spoiler
Friday night’s masking duo consisted of the Phyto Phytokeratine Extreme Exceptional (Hair) Mask and the 23 Years Old Rose Gold 24 Mask. Both masks contain flowers – in fact, both masks contain peony and the sheet mask contains rose water and rose oil as well. I would argue that the sheet mask could also fit the letter I theme with “I” standing for “interesting” – this mask is mouthless. I can’t remember if this particular mask was the first sheet mask @Shosh85  used or if it was another from this line, but this line is known for having mouth-less (yes, mouth-less) sheet masks.

Sheet Mask
Spoiler

I was a little apprehensive about the 23 Years Old Rose Gold 24 Mask, but Shosh85 trail-blazed the way by trying this out a while ago and she has since then used other mouth-less masks from this brand. She’s a brave one, that Shosh85! I noticed two things straight away upon opening this mask – it smells beautifully of fresh roses and the mask itself is thick, very thick, which made me nervous initially because I don’t generally like thicker masks as I find that adherence is often an issue with thicker masks, but I would soon learn that those concerns would be unfounded, even or a mask of this weight. Fit-wise, the mask is about an half inch too long and wide everywhere except for the forehead, which for me was a tiny sliver too short. I was also happy to find that the only adjustment I needed to make was to the inner corner of the eyes because the portion of the mask covering the bridge of the nose was a little too wide.

As I mentioned earlier, there is no mouth hole to this mask – interesting. I gave it a shot but it wasn’t for me so I made a slight tear in the mask to create a mouth hole – it all felt better after that. The thickness of the mask worked to its advantage too, especially with the cold last night; it felt like a cozy blanket cocooning my face. It felt quite nice. Directions suggest 10-20 minutes but a check-in at 20 showed that the mask still held a good amount of essence and I ended up leaving it on for an additional 20, for a total of 40 minutes. I could have left it on even longer as there was still extra essence in the mask after I removed the mask.  There’s also a good amount of extra essence in the packet; probably not enough for a blank sheet mask but plenty to apply all over myself.

Now, the results from this mask are amazing!!! My skin felt soft, plump and bouncy!!! It looked very hydrated and glowy too! The hydration and bounce remained this morning and my complexion looked fresh and refreshed. Seriously loving the results from this mask! "A+" - that’s right, A+; wouldn’t have ever thought I’d give such a high rating to this mask, but it is seriously good stuff!
Hair Mask
Spoiler
Phyto Phytokeratine Extreme Exceptional Mask was one of the treats gifted to me by the amazing @keana1 (a big thanks to you and to Kauai!) I love that it comes in this tin, which looks like it would be, could be, travel friendly. This particular line of Phyto products is 100% sulfate, silicone and paraben free and is geared towards repairing very-dry, damaged and brittle hair. My hair falls in the very-dry camp – this winter cold has not been kind to it and the air from the heater isn’t helping either. Last night, I decided to apply the mask to dry hair, put my hair into a quick and messy braid and cover it with a shower cap for about 5 minute, before jumping in the shower and rinsing out the mask. My hair was in a state where I would have washed it had I not been testing out this mask, so I was putting the mask to the test. There’s a scent to this mask but I don’t know what it is or how to best describe it. It’s not unpleasant but it’s not pleasant either – it’s a little pungent, maybe a tad nutty. It’s noticeable when I apply the mask onto my hair but less so after applied. I let my hair air dry most, if not all, the time so I did the same after rinsing the mask out of my hair. The mask did a pretty good job of cleansing and nourishing my hair – it felt soft and moisturized without feeling weighed down. It gets an “A” from me. This hair mask is on the pricey side so I’d probably use it as a hair treatment once-per-week or once-every-other-week. I could also see myself using it as a leave in conditioner after a day in the sun or a day on a plane.

a mouthless mask very "interesting" @itsfi I think I've only come across one thicker mask that stayed adhered well the entire time, and actually it was the foil mask lol the hair mask sounds great, not too sure about a nutty scent, but if it works well, it's all worth it

Re: a mouthless mask very "interesting" @itsfi I think I've o...

I put the sheet mask off for a long time @lmaster; turns out it’s a good one - isn’t that always the way? LOL! 😆 I would not recommend it for anyone who’s sick and has a sinus congestion though - not being able to breathe through your mouth would be a problem in that case.

Re: a mouthless mask very "interesting" @itsfi I think I've o...

@itsfi if that's the case, I'd probably go ahead and cut it 😂 I'm a mouth breather

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Nice job giving the Cocoon mask a try! I haven't tried this specific one yet, but it sounds wonderful (besides the whole, no mouth hole thing, of course 😂) The first one of these I tried also happened to be my very first sheet mask as well! It was the "Cocoon Willow Silky Mask"👇 and if I remember correctly, it also gave some awesome results! (It's always the weird and gross ones that really surprise you!) I had a lot of fun taking creepy selfies with this one! Haha! 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

hahaha @Shosh85! 🙂 Of course it would be the weird or gross masks that would provide such good results! LOL! These cocoon masks would make great back up costumes for Halloween. I know what to put on if I just can't come up with a costume this year. Hahaha! 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  I've actually thought of wearing this mask and answering the door to trick-or-treaters! Haha! Talk about giving the kids nightmares! 😂 My husband hasn't seen me with this on yet – I really need to buy another one just so I can surprise him with it! Haha! 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hahaha @Shosh85! 😂 WearIng the mask with a hoodie would give it that an extra serial killer feel. You may never get trick-or-treaters again! 😂🤣😂 Your husband has some good responses to hour masks; it’ll be interesting to see what he says. Hahaha!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Haha!! Putting on a hoodie would be perfect! I should try that next time! 😂😱

I was planning on putting one of these masks on and slowly sneaking around the corner and surprising my husband! Haha! I'll definitely be interested in what he'd have to say about that! 😂😂😂😆😆😆😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hahahaha @Shosh85! 😂🤣😂🤣😂 I have a feeling he might let out a shriek! But even funnier would be if he had zero reaction because he’s used to seeing you in all these sheet masks, and he just asked walked on by and asked you an everyday question, like about your boys, dinner, etc. Heeheehee! 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfiThe mouthless factor sounds interesting.  Good for you for giving it a try though!  I've tried a sample of the hair mask and quite enjoyed it as well.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It was a good Friday night masking session @missjeanie! 💖

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

‘Pungent’ @itsfi? That is fascinating 😄 Any chance that ACV is an ingredient, I wonder.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I don’t think so @eshoe. Maybe pungent isn’t the right word. It was somewhat strong.

Friday I used Skyn Iceland eye gels for I Week. They get an A I love these❤️ I also used Sephora collection lychee mask it gets a B. I like the way my skin feels after using but I wish it fit a little better. I used Sephora collection almond foot mask it is my favorite so it is definitely an A❤️. It makes my feet so soft🤗. Does rosebud salve count towards flower week?
This morning I used the Drybar mudslide mask I forgot to put it in the pic. It gets a B. It makes my hair really soft but I don’t like the smell. I also tried the glow recipe sleeping mask. I’ve had the sample for awhile and I know it says sleeping mask but I went ahead and used it so I wouldn’t forget about it again. I really like it. The smell was nice and my face feels soft and it didn’t irritate my skin so I’ll give it an A.

I love the skynn eye masks so much! and the foot mask is awesome @faeriegirl

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@faeriegirl Great masking!! The Sephora Almond Foot Mask is definitely a favorite of mine too! – especially the ones in the pretty holiday packaging😉

I can't believe I still haven't tried the Skyn Iceland Eye Gels yet! It seems it's loved by everyone around here – I'm hoping to pick some up soon! Glad to hear you like them!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds like a weekend full of some great masks!  I haven't used the Rosebud salve in so long... I forgot how much I liked it when I get distracted by newness.  Thanks for the reminder!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It has been my go to for years @missjeanie! I’ve tried bite and laniege but I like rosebud better❤️

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@faeriegirlI used it for years but then kinda strayed away... I need another tin me thinks!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@faeriegirl, rosebud salve is a wonderful lip balm! Love it and that Sephora almond foot mask is a favorite! I stock up on it every year during the holidays - makes a great gift - for others and myself. 😆😉
