ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Spoiler

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh that Tony... what a Fab guy coming to the rescue like that @lmaster !! oh I crack myself up... I might have spent dinner with my dad... dad jokes all over the place lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie oh I can just imagine!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ If he's anything like my fil ๐Ÿคฆ @itsfi

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Heehee! ๐Ÿ˜† You crack me up @missjeanie

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I was just wondering about that FAB peel this morning, @lmaster. I didn't remember your first review so glad you used them again (and that the results weren't as terrifying!). The TM Calendula does sound like it would be very soothing, great choice!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe they both worked very nicely, thank goodness for the soothing mask, it was perfect!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster I'm glad the FAB worked better for you this time!

It seems like this Tony Moly line is hit or miss โ€“ I'm happy this was a hit and that it could help soothe your skin!  ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค—

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 thanks! I agree, could definitely tell the fit on this mask was different from others too. It's so strange

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster, I remember the first time you tried the FAB Intensive peel - ouch! So glad to hear it was better this time around! ๐Ÿ™‚ You're a brave one for giving it another chance! That TonyMoly calendula mask sounds wonderful and a great mask to have on hand just in case. Will be following along as you continue with that FAB peel! ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi it's been awhile, so I figured I'd give it another go round, glad I did. The tonymoly is perfect to follow this peel ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Spoiler
Continuing for Spring Week I was super excited to try out the Skinowl Beauty Steam Marigold. It claims it opens the skin's pores for deep cleansing, decongestion, and hydration.

Overall I really liked this. I steamed it in a bowl per the instructions and then sat with a towel over my head for 5 minutes. In general I'm not a steam person - I hate steam rooms. But this was really nice. It had a light floral scent and was just soothing and relaxing. It's interesting because it says don't use for extended periods of time when you have cystic acne (which I don't) but it really did decongest my pores! I was able to kind of lightly squeeze them out and I slapped a peace out strip on an old under the skin one and it's finally deflated!

ALso finally tried on the YTTP sleep mask and it is everything it was promised. I love the light scent and it's super hydrating and non tacky! Impressed with how well it absorbed!

Spoiler
I also purchased the Peace Out Dark Spot Remover. Obviously it's way to soon to say whether it works but I just wanted to give some initial impressions. I have an old sun spot from when I was a teenager and Didn't wear enough sunscreen. I am totally realistic about the chances of this working on something this old but I figured I'd give it a try.
Spoiler
I tried to take a picture of the spot but it doesn't look as dark in the pictures as I feel it does in real life.
IMG_5626.jpg
Anyway the spots are very interesting. It's I suppose a bit like microneedling. The spot has a lot of little pointy edges and it says to press into your skin for 10 seconds and then leave on overnight. It says to use twice a week for at least 2 weeks for results. So it was super easy to use and stuck on well. My skin in the area was slightly irritated this morning but nothing that will stop me from using the dots to see if it actually works

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888So many interesting things here... I haven't ever thought of steaming with herbs like that!  I'm not much of a steam gal myself but hey.. doesn't hurt to try something new every now and again! I'm glad you liked it!

I have a few dark spots that just keep coming back, (like you said, bad sunscreen use in my younger years), I've had a few lasered off about three years ago now but would love to know if the dots work to avoid the laser!  Please keep us up to date on these guys!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 I am so intrigued by the steam mask, I remember my Mom placing a pot of boiling water in front of her with a towel over her head ๐Ÿ˜„ I love the idea of using the Marigold, I wonder if it's like a tea? I totally want to try that tonight, it sounds very relaxing. So happy to hear you like the YTTP, it's such an easy go-to sleeping mask that's pretty low-maintenance!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe it totally smelled like tea! Not sure it would have the same effect but I don't see why not either haha the ingredients are below and they all look pretty natural to me

Spoiler
Matricaria Chamomilla (Chamomile), Rosa Centifolia (Rose), Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Calendula Officinalis (Calendula), Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey), Vulgare (Fennel), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary), Urtica Dioica (Nettle)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh yes @Kim888 I am going to try that with some tea! Thatโ€™s a really nice blend there ๐Ÿ˜Š

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 I'm in love with the YTTP mask! It is definitely my favorite! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it!

The steaming sounds like it was very successful! I remember thinking my older sister was crazy when I was younger, with her face in a bowl and towel over her head! Haha! I still think she's crazy, just not for that anymore. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I've wondered about the Peace Out dots! They definitely sound promising!! ๐Ÿ‘

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85  i feel like there was totally some 80s/90s sitcom where the older sister did it lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 You know, now that you mention it, that seems familiar!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 the steam mask sounds so cool! I've never tried that before!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster me either  - it was a fabfitfun add on that I got obsessed with but I convinced myself to just get the sample instead of buying something I wasn't sure I'd like!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooooo I'll have to keep an eye out for that again in FFF ๐Ÿ˜ @Kim888  thanks for the heads up
