Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks	itsfi
Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette	sonnydee
Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm	cianni
Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal	heartsmyface
Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold	cianni
Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed	eshoe

oh wow @cianni  the khiels sounds amazing - I feel like they actually have a ton of great masks but they deff don't get the hype of some other brands

Couldn’t agree more @Kim888 ! I feel like brands with less hyped up (or flashy/gimmicky) launches or packaging sometimes get overlooked. I feel the same way about Ahava.

monday H was for Hydrolyzed collagen Niju age defying collagen mask. the scent of this mask was amazing, I literally sniffed it multiple times 😂 the fit was decent, a little longer in the tem itple area. left this mask on for 20 minutes. after I removed the mask, I massaged the remaining serum into my skin, and noticed how silky smooth and moisturized it felt. I did notice a slight tightening around my eye area. UPDATE!!!! The lovely @Shosh85 just pointed out an ingredient I didn't even notice,the parabens this one now gets a C- uughhhhhh @  Tuesday H was for Hibiscus from mamonde. uughhhh the scent was lovely and all but there is alcohol in this mask, so I will not purchase this one, but I went with it anyway. I actually applied DE marula oil first and then put the mask on, we will see how my skin does the next couple of days. I left it on for 10 minutes and massaged the serum. my skin did feel extremely moisturized, but I'm not going to grade it yet, I want to see if the oil application helps any before I pass judgement on this alcohol ingredient �

Ah nooo it’s the worst when an ingredient ruins the whole thing @lmaster 😩 the mamonde packaging gets an A though, that dropper  bottle with the flowers suspended is so pretty hahab

@lmaster I’ll be interested to hear whether using an oil before the sheet mask help to counteract the alcohol in it. I’ve used an oil after a mask to help with any drying but not before. I’ve learned so many tips and tricks on here. 😃

@itsfi @lmaster I’ve never heard this trick.  Wouldn’t oil applied first create a barrier so  the masks serum wouldn’t absorb into the skin and if it did, not at full potency?  

I do recall reading something that the rules about the order you apply skincare in was debunked and that it didn’t truly matter so maybe I am a victim of old thinking.

@heartsmyface, I usually apply oil after the sheet mask because of everything you said,but I have heard that if you have very dry skin, it can help with the dryness to apply a dry oil (like rosehip) before using a sheet mask.

Well, it definitely didn't make it any worse today @itsfi but I do think I will be avoiding alcohol completely, no matter how cute the packaging is. 😢 It's just too much hassle

@lmaster The Niju mask sounds great! I see this one has parabens – I wonder if all the masks from this brand does? I haven't tried a Niju mask or even heard of them before, but it sounds great! 👍😉  The Mamonde Mask sounds pretty decent! Sometimes I'm surprised after I use a mask and discover later there's alcohol in it! Usually my skin can tell, but there have been a few that I wouldn't have even known if I didn't look at the ingredients. I'll be curious to know your final thoughts on it.

Good to know! @byme4u  I think my biggest issue is actually something I clearly see does not work for my skin and that's alcohol, even the "good" alcohols strip my skin, I really don't want to have to apply more oil if I chance using something with it in it

I’ve chosen this Hello Kitty Lifestyle Concept Mask I picked up at a Sanrio Lifestyle Concept pop up store in Tokyo.  The best I can get from this is that it contains shea butter so it should be moisturizing.  Edit- this mask was as expected.  It comes with a lot of unscented serum that’s thin and slippery.  It left my skin feeling bouncy and slick.  Not tacky at all.  I like.  It’s not the best mask in the world (I find ones with prints seldom are) but it did it’s job of leaving my skin moist and making me smile.  I’d give this one a B+.
