Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 Such cute packaging!

Best,
Rebecca

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@RebeccaBT I was definitely attracted to the cuteness! Almost half the products I buy are because of the cute/pretty packaging!! It's a major weakness of mine. Haha! 😉😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Cute! The cool and refreshing feel sounds nice!!! @Shosh85

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@veronika23 It was a good one!! I was a little worried about the title "tighter 'n' brighter" for my dry skin, but it ended up being great! I think for me, It'd definitely be a little better for the summer, when my skin isn't as dry. 😉👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85  I have to ask... what is "Gudetama"?  I remember getting an Ipsy bag with this guy on it and people were all excited, mine just sits in a pile of bags and I have no idea what/who this little dude is?  Is this the next hello kitty? lol Glad you saw results though!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie Gudetama is a Sanrio character. Basically, he's Hello Kitty's friend. 😉 He is a cracked egg and is described as "always whiny, lazy and unmotivated, and his attitude is related to the fact that he only exists to be eaten."

"Gude" is Japanese for describing someone or something with no energy or strength, and  "tama," is from the word "tamago," which means egg in Japanese.

I personally think he's super cute! Haha!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 Ahhhh.... okay.  I get it now.  I remember getting the Ipsy bag and being so confused.  Thanks so much for letting me know!  I actually kinda like him now that I know who he is... lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie Yeah, he is one of the newer Sanrio characters, (released in 2013) and when I first started seeing him pop up everywhere, I was a little confused too! I never thought I'd ever consider a cracked egg cartoon to be adorable, but I really do! Haha! 🥚🍳

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It’s a papaya theme for the first day of Week 7 – Letter G – Special Occasion Masks!  "G" is for gifts, Garnier and glow! 🧡🖤💛

Hair Mask

Spoiler
Inspired by the lovely locks of @Shosh85  and @bakeamuffin , I’ve been trying to be better at keeping my hair healthy and happy, so more regular trips to the hair salon, using hair masks more frequently and the like. Incorporating hair masks into my skincare and sheet mask routine took some getting used to last year, but it’s gotten easier to do so this year – it helps that I have a plethora of hair masks at my disposal, including the Garnier Fructis Damage Repairing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask + Papaya Extract, which can be used as a hair mask, conditioner or leave-in treatment. I’ve used it all three ways and love them all, but probably have an ever so slight preference for using it as a hair mask or conditioner. If I use it as a leave-in, I just need to make sure to have a light hand so that it doesn’t weigh down my hair. This is great for detangling and, regardless of how I use it, my hair feels soft, silky, smooth and moisturized, and has a lovely shine to it – not a greasy “oh my gosh, easy on the hair product, girl” kind of shine but a “ooh, your hair looks so pretty, healthy” kind of shine. Oh, this smells amazing!! I first used a foil sample of this and liked it a lot; it was on my list! Without knowing that, shosh85 sent me a lovely surprise which included with amazing product. Thank you shosh85! I loooove this hair mask!!! This gets an “A” from me.

Under Eye Mask

Spoiler
To add some brightness to my mug this Monday morning, I used the avatara No Baggage Hydrogel Eye Masks – Energizing under the Beautaniq Beauty Radiant Glow mask. Oooh, these are niiiice and refreshingly cool coming out of the fridge. I found these avatara eye masks, along with some 100% Tencel sheet masks from the brand, at Nordstrom Rack, but they are also sold at Target.  According to its website, all avatara products are vegan, some are gluten free. These adhered very nicely onto my skin and wore comfortably for the 30 minutes I had it on (10 longer than the suggested 10-20 minutes) – one side of the mask is hydrogel and sticky and the other has a cotton material over it and is soft to the touch. It is not slimy or oily; there’s no essence dripping from the mask. The area under my eyes looks smooth and refreshed after I remove the eye gels; there’s no sticky or tacky feeling. These are great masks, worthy of an “A” and I would consider purchasing for use for a special occasion. I have jars of hydrogel eye masks that I need to use up, along with quite a few eye masks, so I won’t need to purchase any more anytime soon, but when it comes time to pick up a couple of eye masks, these are definitely front runners.

Sheet Mask

Spoiler
I would never have known about this brand if I hadn’t received the Beautaniq Beauty Radiant Glow Mask from the fabulous @lmaster  (thank you, thank you!). Beautaniq Beauty is a cruelty-free, plant-based, natural skin care brand. The packaging is adorable and the lists of ingredients (see spoiler below) is a nice one; looking at it, you can see the basis for its claims to brighten and plump the skin. I’m always a little hesitant about “youth renewing” or “youth activating” claims with sheet masks, but a complexion with a “radiant glow” may make me look more youthful and I’m good with that. This cotton mask is what I would consider slightly thicker than the standard cotton sheet mask; it has a clear, liquid-y essence and a very subtle sweet, fruity scent to it that fades away once I apply the mask. It fit and adhered pretty well; I think it would have fit and adhered better if the material was softer and thinner, but it was fine. I left the mask on for about an half hour, twice the time recommended (10-15 minutes) and did not have any issues with it drying out. My skin is slightly tacky to the touch but otherwise looked fresh and bright after removing the mask, and it felt hydrated and bouncy, all good things. It gets an "A / A-" from me; definitely worthy of a repurchase … but after I’ve done some more, okay, maybe a lot more, shopping of my stash.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I just love the pretty picture @itsfi! I remember seeing @lmaster's post about that Beautaniq mask, the scent sounds really nice. I'm with you on the results aspect, while I appreciate the effort, I think most hydration on this level is short-term. But that doesn't stop me in any way, shape, or form 😄

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @eshoe! Few things stop me from trying mask these days! Hahaha! 😂😂😂 I feel like I’m making a dent in my mask stash but then I look at how many I have left!! 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I hear ya @itsfi 😄 but you know how small dents look on a car..you ARE making a difference;)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yeah, it’ll be fine. I have duplicates as well as masks that I have 10 of (ones I know work for me) so it’s not so bad. @eshoe

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Oh yay! I'm so glad you liked the hair mask!! It's definitely one of my most favorites!! The scent is sooo good! 😋 I've only ever used it as a mask or conditioner.... Good to know about the the leave-in option not being too great! 😉

I've never tried those eye masks, but have seen that brand a lot, and have always been curious about them! These sound great! I'll have to look out for them! 👀

It was nice of @lmaster to gift you that mask! I don't think I've heard a negative thing about it! Something else to add to my list! 👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, thank you so much for this mask! This is one of my faves. Using it as a leave in is not bad but it’s not my preferred use. The eye masks are nice; I would pick up a couple to have on hand for travel. I’m interested in trying out their tencel sheet masks; I have the hydrating one. The papaya sheet mask was really nice; I keep finding more sheet masks that are likes and loves - my list is definitely getting longer.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi The way you describe having a shine to your hair... lol It sure is a fine line sometimes eh!  The mask does sound lovely though.  Does it have a scent to it?  If memory serves a lot of Garnier products do (not that I'm complaining, scent in shampoo/masks is a key for me lol)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie, it IS such a fine line! 😂 The Garnier hair mask has a nice fruity scent to it; to me, it’s not overwhelming but it’s there.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ohh they all sound like good masks! Love the pic!!! @itsfi

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @veronika23! I’m happy with how the papaya products worked out! 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh yaaaaaaaay @itsfi  😄 so glad it worked well for you!! And you just opened my eyes to the G week.... Don't think Glow would of even crossed my mind 😂😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It’s such a nice mask @lmaster! I saw on the brand’s site that they also have a hydrating mask; I made a note of that! 😊
