2019 Mask of the Week Main Thread & Misc. Info:

To Post:
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Can't do H week without honey 🍯 C4436E3F-41F6-46FC-AAD5-C3D117087BB0.jpeg

Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Mask🍯

This is a super thin and transparent cotton sheet mask that was drenched with plenty of serum and had a yummy sweet honey scent. The fit was kinda wonky on this one - it was too wide, too long at the chin, the eye holes were a bit too big, and the strip between the mouth and nose was way too skinny. The mask was so thin that it was easy to scrunch and smoosh the mask into place. Despite the fit, it adhered very well and was comfortable to wear the 30 minutes I had it on. When I removed it my face felt refreshed, looked slightly brighter and was comfortably hydrated. There was some light tackiness that stuck around for about 15 minutes, and my skin was left feeling soft and smooth.

I loved this one! The results and the scent were both so great, and I love that honey extract and propolis extract are 4th and 5th in the ingredients! 🍯 Not the best fit, but the thin material made it easy to adjust. I will definitely repurchase this one. 👍

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85  I'm pretty sure this is the version I have tried before. I need to look through my stash and check. If so, I remember having a very similar experience. I loved the serum, but I remember having some major fit issues. I'll need to try it again and figure out the best way to adjust it.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

My face just lights up when I see this mask @Shosh85! Smiley Happy There are a few masks in this line that rank high for me, including this one. I need to check to see if the brand makes an essence or serum similar to the essence in this mask or in the variations of it that I like. BRB (or maybe not...I can see myself getting distracted with my research! Hahaha!) Great mask choice for "H" week.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  Happy to hear it's a love for you too! This is my second time trying it out and I still love it just as much 😃 It definitely would be fantastic as a serum! 🙌

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Last night I masked with some green tea thanks to the lovely @faeriegirl!BCFA5261-FC3F-4CBC-B7E0-100B2A83AB56.jpeg

I’ve used the KORRES - Hydra Biome Probiotic Superdose Face Mask With Real Greek Yoghurt a couple of times now; sampled it and then bought it because I need a hydrating, super-functional mask for when I just don’t want to think too much about masking. I keep this one chilled, it has a light yogurty scent that is calming and my skin soaks it almost all the way up. After 20 minutes I moved on to the Lookatme Green Blend, a gift 💝 from @faeriegirl, thank you so much 🥰

The scent was enjoyable, not a matcha but definitely a sharp, bright scent. The mask fit beautifully and wore well-at least 40 minutes.  I removed and let everything soak in, maybe 10 minutes or so passed and my skin was ready for more!

After a couple more steps, I applied the Chanel Hydrating Oxygenating Overnight Mask. I had no idea what to expect, the oxygen factor made me thing bubbles but no such thing appeared. Slippery, more so than I anticipated. Similar to the DRUNK ELEPHANT - F-Balm™ Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask but with the signature Chanel skincare scent. It felt absolutely lovely going on, as did the F-Balm.

I woke to very, very dry cheeks. I keep a bottle of oil next to my bed for mornings like this. The weather’s not too unusual so I’m led to believe my skin just needs more hydration than the Chanel offers as a final nighttime treat. Still, so very enjoyable.

RE: Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I was just looking at the Korres mask tonight at Shoppers! Now I might have to go back and get it 😂

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  I don't think I've heard about the Korres mask too much. I'm intrigued now and will definitely be looking it up.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  Glad to hear you liked the Look at Me mask! I wrote in my notes that I loved the results, but not the scent because it smelled like tea tree and menthol to me 🤷‍♀️ Haha. My nose is weird. 😂
The Korres mask sounds wonderful! It's always good to have a gentle, soothing mask on hand 😉

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Oh interesting about the tea tree, @Shosh85 - my nose is generally acceptable of that so sometimes it doesn’t stand out!

Happy to have the Korres, especially as I’m nearing the end of my Cocoa Moisture and Honey PotionSmiley Happy

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

That korres mask is sounding awesome @eshoe

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

It was refreshing, @lmaster - I keep it chilled, I’m hoping to mix it with a berry-scented mask sometime in the summerSmiley Happy

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Nice masking @eshoe!  I'm so sorry you woke up to super dry skin though.  Smiley Sad  I've seen that Korres mask lately at TJM/Marshall's, so if you're looking for a back up you might want to check there.  It worked well for me too, but I where I struggled with this one is it that it gave me that cooling effect where I felt like my face is in a fridge and that's uncomfortable to me.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Ahhhh I forgot to even mention that, @mrsmouse! I like it, even sheer masks don’t bother me cold in the winter. Now those SEPHORA COLLECTION - Bawdy x Sephora Collection Butt Sheet Mask-those are some alarmingly cold masks😂

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe that korres mask sounds really nice! Especially for this time of year when calming is needed!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

It’s a good solid mask, @Kim888. Not nearly as overpowering in scent as their yogurt sleeping facial which I tossed.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I had to try out one of the Holika Holika tea masks after seeing @eshoe @try it out!

so I tried out the Lavender version. I definitely agree these masks are great! I love the natural lavender scent , it did make me feel very relaxed and sleepy haha. I thought the fit was fairly good and the serum was really nice and absorbed well. The lavender one is supposed to give vitality and Overall my face looked really refreshed after - I will definitely use again

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Oh how cool @Kim888 I've not seen these

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I love lavender for a sleep scent too @Kim888. I still have to try the green tea one I was gifted in unicorn mail. Everyone's reviews of this type seem awesome.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I'm glad this one was a winner for you @Kim888!  I have the hibiscus one that I haven't tried yet.  I'd like to get it into the rotation soon, but I am still trying to work through expiring masks first.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

This one sounds nice @Kim888. I first tried the hibiscus version of these masks which I received from @Shosh85  and liked it a lot. I’ve used the green tea one as well. Will add lavender to my list.
