Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

2018 Mask of the Week Challenge:

NEW!!! Got an idea for next year's challenge? Let me know! Was there a challenge you'd rather not repeat? Share below, so we can start building the 2021 schedule:

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Last night I used the SEPHORA COLLECTION - Face Mask in Green Tea. I'm tying this one into the themes of "D'arn it and "W"hoomp whoomp. I say that only cause I love the sleeping masks over sheet masks and turns out Sephora no longer makes them, that makes me sad. You could get like 4 uses out of one! This mask itself was kinda weird. The sheet was thick but cut weird. Even with my big face it didn't fit right. In the morning my face looked pretty oily too, but that could have been  my moisturizer.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Samtian, sorry this one didn't work out for you, and that the SC sleeping masks you loved are no longer available. I wonder if perhaps they are reformulating some of their products. Hmmmm...

By the way, love your "W" theme - whoomp, whoomp!  <333

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Samtian  It's always a bummer when something you love gets discontinued! Sorry this one didn't work out so well for you!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Samtian Sorry this one did not work for you. I like the SC Green Tea mask for controlling oil and calming breakouts, it’s part of my regular rotation. The fit is weird, though!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

For "W" I chose Annie's Way Bubble Tea Mask in Strawberry from the wonderful @PrettyPaint, and for "D," the VOLITION BEAUTY - Detoxifying Silt Gelee Mask

I had sampled the Volition a couple of years ago and loved it. Not sure why it took me so long to replace it! The scent reminds me of Fruit Loops, which is both odd and amusing to me; it smells much better than it looks Smiley Very Happy I left it on for around 20 minutes, after which it was almost completely dried down. Easy to rinse off with my MAKEUP ERASER - The Original MakeUp Eraser® Makeup Remover Cloth, easy on the senses, the teeniest bit of exfoliating granules - I am looking forward to using this more! The Strawberry Lanolips Multibalm has a soft strawberry scent and stays put fairly well. My biggest annoyance with it is I always dispense too much and end up wasting some due to the rather large opening.

The Annie's Way Bubble Tea Mask Strawberry claims to moisturize, revitalize and brighten. The first thing I noticed was the sweet Nestle Strawberry-Quik scent - yum!!! The fit was just right, no snips/cuts necessary. It was on the thinner side, though not quite as thin as the other AW mask I've tried (with HA/sea kelp). There was plenty of watery serum in the packet to add extra to my face as I was using it. I removed after about 25 minutes, and was happy to note that my skin felt soft, not tacky, and did look maybe a teeny bit brighter. Thank you PrettyPaint, I really enjoyed this mask! I'm looking forward to trying the Mango and Cherry versions now, happy to have them on hand.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe  Omg the descriptions on both sound amazing.  I think I will pick up that violation one after my no buy June!! And maybe once I’ve made a dent in my drawer of masks!! I will definitely be on the look out for the strawberry one too!  Now I’m craving froot loops with strawberry nesquick.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe  Mmm, Fruit Loops and Strawberry Nesquik?.... sounds like a delicious masking session! 😋

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I guess it’s all about the cereal now @Shosh85 😂 A pretty fun masking, if nothing else!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

After reading your review and @lmaster 's on the Annie's Way mask I'm not gonna lie... I'm pretty pumped for that strawberry quick scent @eshoe !

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh my goodness @missjeanie , I am pretty excited for the mango!! Which ones have you tried?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe @lmaster I haven't tried either yet, but I have both the mango and the strawberry.  I just pulled them out to add to my masks of the week.  I'm feeling strawberry today I think.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie just makes me hungry 😆

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ohhhh @eshoe @missjeanie I have not tried the mango and I have at least one,,, I'm trying to put it off until I can buy more 😆

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Love the lanolips balm @eshoe! Nice strawberry theme - the bubble tea masks that folks have been posting about has been giving me a slight craving for one. Ha! Smiley Wink

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I haven’t had a bubble tea yet, @itsfi - but I’m thinking I just might be able to make/try one soon!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

There’s usually several options @eshoe, for both teas and for flavoring. I haven’t had one in a good while but they do tend to be on the sweet side and there is usually an option to pick the level of sweetness you prefer - full sweet, half sweet, quarter sweet. The first time I ever tried one I was told to sip slowly. The large tapioca balls come up through the extra wide straw they give you pretty quickly.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This is not a mask but my review of DERMAFLASH - DERMAPORE Ultrasonic Pore Extractor & Serum Infuser. I only tried the pore extractor . It was a fun little device. For some reason I didn’t see a lot of extractions come from this. I mainly saw the extractions on my nose. For some reason they didn’t stick to the device like what I saw in the videos that I watched. I was hoping that I could possibly bring the milia on my forehead closer to the surface but time will tell. I believe that this device was targeted for blackhead removal. I hope to try it later with the serum infuser portion of this tool. So far I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes @Loretta55 blackheads come out with ease for me now I got the hang of it,,,I still only use it once a week for blackheads and exfoliating

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Loretta55 I'm glad you had a good experience with this.  I saw it on QVC and the woman demonstrating it looked like she was using it in a very aggressive way, which made me scared of this.  I'll be curious to hear what your thoughts are about how effective it is on forehead milia.  I think I have some milia on my forehead, but I'm really not sure.  It's pretty much only noticeable to me, but still!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster told me to watch Tati’s video before using the device @greeneyedgirl107. I am scared of doing damage to my skin so I used minimal pressure. I did not extract much but I am going to try the serum infuser next.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe @greeneyedgirl107 @itsfi when you have a visible Blackhead, you definitely have to put more pressure at a 45 degree angle, i kept holding it wrong, but when I hold it the correct way they come right out. I've put major pressure on white heads and have not damaged my skin at all
