Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  Unlike some of the other clay masks I've tried, this one has little beads or crystals in it that help you physically exfoliate your skin when you first apply it.  When you're ready to rinse, you can apply a small amount of water to the dry mask and massage your face for a second exfoliation with the beads/crystals! I'm a big sucker for exfoliation, so for me this is so innovative haha.  Exfoliate with tiny beads, tighten pores with clay, exfoliate again...and since the mask contains salicylic acid, you're also getting some chemical exfoliation.  🤯

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

Hmmm my curiosity is definitely piqued @averylayne, going to check my stash! Thank you for the detailed feedback, very helpful:)

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe you're very welcome! I hope you find that sample!

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@averylayne  Glad to hear you enjoy this one! I'm curious, does it dry down hard and stiff or soft and flexible?

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85  it dries and becomes tight on your skin.  Have you ever tried Caudalie Pore Minimizing Instant Detox Mask 2.5 oz/ 75 mL ? It's similar to that.  The clay dries and your face becomes stiff.  You're still able to move your mouth and talk freely, but I would say it would be a little difficult to eat.  After it dries, the directions say to wet your face and massage again for a second exfoliation, so it does soften up again with added water.  Hope that helps!

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@averylayne  That helps a bunch, thank you so much! There are some clay masks that dry down so hard if you move your face at all it'll crack and sprinkle off your face - those are the ones I try to avoid. Haha 😉

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85  oh I know what you mean; the Caudalie one does that lol. But I did not notice the messy flakes with this Philosophy one 😉

Holika Holika Baby Pet Magic Sheet Mask

This is a thin-medium, pug-printed, cotton sheet mask. It had plenty of serum and a slightly strong, perfumy kind of scent. The fit was pretty good - just a little too long at the chin and not quite wide enough by the ears. I had the mask on for about 25 minutes. I did feel a bit of a tingle while it was on, but it wasn't bothersome at all. When I removed it my face was just slightly pink in a couple areas, but there wasn't any discomfort at all. There was some light tackiness, but that went away, along with the pink, in about 10 minutes. My face felt comfortable and refreshed. My skin felt soft and smooth and had a nice glow. I don't really have wrinkles, more like fine lines, and I didn't see any difference with that - but I guess that might be the kind of thing you'd notice with regular usage.

This mask was super fun because of the cute pug print, but I wasn't a big fan of the scent and the results weren't anything special. I'll have no problem using up the box I have, but I probably wouldn't repurchase.

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 You look adorable!

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thank you, @missjeanie! It was a fun one! 😃

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

Sorry to hear you didn't see any good results @Shosh85 I used this one awhile back and I know my forehead lines looked less noticeable, but the other areas looked the same 🤷

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  I scoured my face 5 times trying to see if anything was smoothed out. Haha! Oh well, it wasn't bad at all and the pug made it all worth it! 😂

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

🤣 @Shosh85 it is so cute

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

I *almost* picked up a box of this one last weekend @Shosh85.  I decided to keep to my low/no buy and skip it.  Since the results were just average, I'm kinda glad I did.  Thanks for posting/reviewing!  🙂

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@mrsmouse  Yeah, if it weren't for the pug I would've totally regretted buying these! The pug definitely makes it better 😉

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85, The pug is totally what drew my in.  😉  I went WAY overboard this past year with purchasing masks and I am not sure I can get through what I have before they all expire, so my goal for this year is to be smarter about my purchases.  If I see a mask that I already have another version of, then I'm going to pass (unless I see an insanely great review on this thread for it).  I actually started this about a month or so ago and it has really helped my budget tremendously.  🙂

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@mrsmouse  Yeah, I've been trying to remind myself these masks have an expiration date, and I only have one face 😬

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85, Last night I decided I really needed to get them organized because there is a very real possibility that I have some that are either expired or expiring soon.  It's just that I have over 400 (I kinda stopped counting after that) so it's a daunting task.  Once it's done it will be far easier to keep up on though & I won't be wasting $ by letting them expire.  🙂

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

@mrsmouse  I embarrassingly admit that I have more masks than that, but I have been really good about checking dates. I recently went through the big task of organizing them all as well - right now I just have them all separated by expiration year and each year of masks are alphabetized. So I usually only pick from masks that are expiring sooner, but sometimes there's just that one that I'm excited to try. Unicorn Mail gets to cut in line sometimes as well 😉
I made myself a rule that I'd only by masks that were 2+ years away from expiring, maybe a little less if it was a single/small pack. It's a good system, but right now I definitely should put myself back on a low/no buy 😂

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

Smart @Shosh85!  I need to take a page from your book.  Also, organizing by year seems far easier than trying to organize by month/year.  Maybe that would be a better way to start.  I just picked up another bin to put more in so I can get most of the rest out of their boxes.

Re: 2020 Q1 Mask of the Week Challenge

As it was cute, @Shosh85! And even without great results and scent, you still rock it, haha!
