Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888 I really enjoyed the first mask you used too,, the 111skin I know @faeriegirl used and didn't care for it either

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888  Well 1 out of 2 isn't bad! It definitely would've expected a $30 mask to do more. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I haven't planned to spend $30 on a mask but I definitely won't now @Kim888. Nice that the Neogen was a good one though!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I really liked that Neogen mask too, @Kim888! They have others but I havenโ€™t ventured out just yet.

I have that 111 mask but havenโ€™t tried it yet, Iโ€™ve been saving it for a โ€˜special occasionโ€™ but maybe I donโ€™t have to now. This is the second time Iโ€™ve heard itโ€™s pretty average, which is not what you would expect from a $30+ mask.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe I also do that whole saving it thing - I just kind of was like meh using it and I'm glad I didn't end up saving it now

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I is for Im layering lemon mask from tonymoly IMG_20200224_195650813.jpg

Spoiler
This is a two part mask, the top part of the package contains 5 little lemon shapes to apply where you choose, the second step has a sheet mask, much thinner than the other versions of tonymoly, like the I am rose and other "I am" masks. The scent was not so much fresh lemon, more on the chemical scented side of lemon, think cleaning product lemon scent. There was a bit of extra clear serum in the package. Wear time 20 minutes, after removing, my skin looked a bit brighter and had a clean feel to it. I applied moisturizer soon after removing the sheet, and I didn't notice an annoying tackiness. Repurchase? No, the scent on this one is a bit strong, and I'm not a fan.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  Sounds cool. But too bad the scent wasnโ€™t great.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ather total bummer, I'd rather it be scentless!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Ugh, Lemon Pledge reminds me of doing chores @lmaster not where I want my state of mind when masking๐Ÿ˜†

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yep @eshoe not good!! Not at all ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ™

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  Sorry the scent was a bummer on this one. I'm always hesitant to do citrusy/vitamin C masks because it seems like a lot of them have a cleaner type of smell. ๐Ÿฅด I do like the layering concept though - i don't usually ever use just the slices, so it's nice it comes with a mask! ๐Ÿ‘

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 tonymoly is either a great scent, but the sheet is too thick, or in this case, a strong scent but great sheet,,, can we have a happy medium ๐Ÿคท lol

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster the layering part sounds really interesting! Too bad about the scent - it's always sad when something works but you are so unrelaxed from the scent it's not worth it

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

That's a great way if putting it @Kim888 I don't particularly want to put something on my face that smells like cleaning products

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Aww bummer @lmaster. There is a big difference between a pleasant fresh lemon scent and cleaner lemon.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yes there is @ShortErica @ I love a good fresh lemon scent

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Oh, itโ€™s snubbed masks week! Good timing for Yadah Soothing Jelly Pack. I know itโ€™s a popular one, but I frequently pass it up while browsing my mask bin.

Even my iPhone has issues with this mask, as evidenced by the photo tint I couldnโ€™t quite remove. :DEven my iPhone has issues with this mask, as evidenced by the photo tint I couldnโ€™t quite remove. ๐Ÿ˜„

Notes:

Spoiler

Ingredients: Contains gardenia extract, something I generally avoid. But it also contains prickly pear, aloe, green tea (camellia), and bamboo, so I bought a bunch last year thinking โ€œshould be okay, right?โ€ Yeah...

Spoiler
Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2 Hexanediol, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Extract (5,000 ppm), Polyacrylic Acid, Panthenol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Cellulose Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

Performance: I make a mess each time I tear the sleeve open: the thick gel serum seems too eager to escape the sleeve, and I end up wiping it off my mirror ๐Ÿ˜„ The sheet fits okayโ€”itโ€™s one of the few that arenโ€™t too wide at my templesโ€”and usually adheres well. The floral fragrance overwhelms me when I open the sleeve, but it doesnโ€™t bug me much during wear, as long as I keep my head fairly still. The serumโ€™s so thick and abundant, I have to wipe a lot of it off my face after removing the sheet. Otherwise itโ€™d just sit on my face for at least 30 minutes (thatโ€™s the longest Iโ€™ve ever waited for it to soak in) and leave me sticky.

Results: Not drying but barely hydrating. My skin always demands hydration after this mask, be it plain olโ€™ water, a hydrating facial mist, or even a second sheet mask that actually hydrates. And this Yadah mask always leaves a slightly white cast behind. It disappears when I apply oil and moisturizer, but still: I donโ€™t expect a โ€œsoothingโ€ mask to do that. On a positive note, it is quite cooling. But thatโ€™s the only soothing thing about it for me.

Yadah jelly packs are generally popular, but I donโ€™t like this one. I keep using it (very infrequently) only because I had a bunch in my mask bin and didnโ€™t wanna see them go to waste. Iโ€™ll happily send them to anyone who likes them; I have 4 left and they donโ€™t expire until May 2021.

This is also a good week to post about my frenemy mask. Iโ€™ll use that one in the next couple days.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne  Too bad itโ€™s not a winner. Iโ€™ve heard so many great things about Yadah masks.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ather  Yadah makes better masks than this one. ๐Ÿ™‚ Eh, each brand has a dud or 2.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne @I keep a couple pairs of scissors nearby now, a smaller one for snipping the eye openings and a medium size one for cutting open mask packs. Never know what to expect when opening them, be it goopy stuff that oozes out or watery essence that seeps out everywhere ๐Ÿ™„

Bummer this one wasnโ€™t that hydrating. Have you tried any of the oil masks? Iโ€™ve only tried a couple (that I can remember), by Lapcos and then Sephora has one. Ooooh but then Lapcos has EOs, which may be an issue. They seem to be bothersome for quite a few.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  Each time I open one of these jelly packs, I kick myself for not using scissors instead of tearing the sleeve open. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ I mean, the little scissors I use to tailor sheet masks are right there, hanging on my bathroom mirror, in plain sight... I should put a bright โ€œUSE SCISSORS TO OPENโ€ sticky note on all my remaining jelly packs. ๐Ÿ˜„ Good idea to have a second larger pair of scissors handy for the job.

I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve tried a Lapcos mask. But yeah, if they contain more than one essential oil, theyโ€™re a no-go. I definitely havenโ€™t tried Sephoraโ€™s oil mask. But youโ€™ve just inadvertently reminded me to investigate Sephoraโ€™s mask sticks. ๐Ÿ™‚
