NEW!!! Got an idea for next year's challenge? Let me know! Was there a challenge you'd rather not repeat? Share below, so we can start building the 2021 schedule:
@Kim888 I really enjoyed the first mask you used too,, the 111skin I know @faeriegirl used and didn't care for it either
@Kim888 Well 1 out of 2 isn't bad! It definitely would've expected a $30 mask to do more. ๐ฌ
I haven't planned to spend $30 on a mask but I definitely won't now @Kim888. Nice that the Neogen was a good one though!
I really liked that Neogen mask too, @Kim888! They have others but I havenโt ventured out just yet.
I have that 111 mask but havenโt tried it yet, Iโve been saving it for a โspecial occasionโ but maybe I donโt have to now. This is the second time Iโve heard itโs pretty average, which is not what you would expect from a $30+ mask.
@eshoe I also do that whole saving it thing - I just kind of was like meh using it and I'm glad I didn't end up saving it now
I is for Im layering lemon mask from tonymoly
Ingredients
@lmaster Sounds cool. But too bad the scent wasnโt great.
@ather total bummer, I'd rather it be scentless!
Ugh, Lemon Pledge reminds me of doing chores @lmaster not where I want my state of mind when masking๐
Yep @eshoe not good!! Not at all ๐๐
@lmaster Sorry the scent was a bummer on this one. I'm always hesitant to do citrusy/vitamin C masks because it seems like a lot of them have a cleaner type of smell. ๐ฅด I do like the layering concept though - i don't usually ever use just the slices, so it's nice it comes with a mask! ๐
@Shosh85 tonymoly is either a great scent, but the sheet is too thick, or in this case, a strong scent but great sheet,,, can we have a happy medium ๐คท lol
@lmaster the layering part sounds really interesting! Too bad about the scent - it's always sad when something works but you are so unrelaxed from the scent it's not worth it
That's a great way if putting it @Kim888 I don't particularly want to put something on my face that smells like cleaning products
Aww bummer @lmaster. There is a big difference between a pleasant fresh lemon scent and cleaner lemon.
Yes there is @ShortErica @ I love a good fresh lemon scent
Oh, itโs snubbed masks week! Good timing for Yadah Soothing Jelly Pack. I know itโs a popular one, but I frequently pass it up while browsing my mask bin.
Notes:
Ingredients: Contains gardenia extract, something I generally avoid. But it also contains prickly pear, aloe, green tea (camellia), and bamboo, so I bought a bunch last year thinking โshould be okay, right?โ Yeah...
Performance: I make a mess each time I tear the sleeve open: the thick gel serum seems too eager to escape the sleeve, and I end up wiping it off my mirror ๐ The sheet fits okayโitโs one of the few that arenโt too wide at my templesโand usually adheres well. The floral fragrance overwhelms me when I open the sleeve, but it doesnโt bug me much during wear, as long as I keep my head fairly still. The serumโs so thick and abundant, I have to wipe a lot of it off my face after removing the sheet. Otherwise itโd just sit on my face for at least 30 minutes (thatโs the longest Iโve ever waited for it to soak in) and leave me sticky.
Results: Not drying but barely hydrating. My skin always demands hydration after this mask, be it plain olโ water, a hydrating facial mist, or even a second sheet mask that actually hydrates. And this Yadah mask always leaves a slightly white cast behind. It disappears when I apply oil and moisturizer, but still: I donโt expect a โsoothingโ mask to do that. On a positive note, it is quite cooling. But thatโs the only soothing thing about it for me.
Yadah jelly packs are generally popular, but I donโt like this one. I keep using it (very infrequently) only because I had a bunch in my mask bin and didnโt wanna see them go to waste. Iโll happily send them to anyone who likes them; I have 4 left and they donโt expire until May 2021.
This is also a good week to post about my frenemy mask. Iโll use that one in the next couple days.
@WinglessOne Too bad itโs not a winner. Iโve heard so many great things about Yadah masks.
@ather Yadah makes better masks than this one. ๐ Eh, each brand has a dud or 2.
@WinglessOne @I keep a couple pairs of scissors nearby now, a smaller one for snipping the eye openings and a medium size one for cutting open mask packs. Never know what to expect when opening them, be it goopy stuff that oozes out or watery essence that seeps out everywhere ๐
Bummer this one wasnโt that hydrating. Have you tried any of the oil masks? Iโve only tried a couple (that I can remember), by Lapcos and then Sephora has one. Ooooh but then Lapcos has EOs, which may be an issue. They seem to be bothersome for quite a few.
@eshoe Each time I open one of these jelly packs, I kick myself for not using scissors instead of tearing the sleeve open. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ I mean, the little scissors I use to tailor sheet masks are right there, hanging on my bathroom mirror, in plain sight... I should put a bright โUSE SCISSORS TO OPENโ sticky note on all my remaining jelly packs. ๐ Good idea to have a second larger pair of scissors handy for the job.
I donโt think Iโve tried a Lapcos mask. But yeah, if they contain more than one essential oil, theyโre a no-go. I definitely havenโt tried Sephoraโs oil mask. But youโve just inadvertently reminded me to investigate Sephoraโs mask sticks. ๐
