Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Oooh I recall deer antler extract @heartsmyface ๐Ÿ˜ณ your skin looks lovely, must be doing something for you๐Ÿ˜‰!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe Ha, this made me laugh cause I read it after reading the review you posted about it.  Sorry you were uncomfortable with it.  I have a pretty strong constitution and I was squirming a bit as well.  I should be fine in the future if I just donโ€™t think about it.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yeah I wasnโ€™t in a hurry to remove it, @heartsmyface - unlike horse oil, that one I lasted about 5 minutes ๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe, I thought I remembered someone mentioning deer antler on this thread too ๐Ÿค”

@heartsmyface

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 I just remembered that was me! @missjeanie also used it. It is the Goo&Tao Beautรฉ Lโ€™Affaire Panda Mask. @heartsmyface
7E29E1BB-1E88-4D1C-9C73-C7E5BDB969D6.jpeg

Found my thoughts on it, too - with some interesting info on 'velvet' as an ingredient, aka deer antler extract.

Spoiler
This was a fun one; deer antler velvet has IGF-1, which is a performance-enhancing supplement and a substance banned by the NFL, MLB, and the World Anti-Doping Agency. Eyes like saucers here; this is some major sheet-masking I just did; good thing I'm not an athlete ๐Ÿ˜„ So deer antler (or elk antler) velvet is "the tissue that covers the bone and cartilage that develop into deer (and elk) antlers." So I might just lump this into gross week, I'm not a vegetarian but the thought of cow placenta and deer tissue on my face doesnโ€™t exactly make me feel all zen inside. Anyways; the mask: oozing in a jelly-like serum, a very thin cotton material, gooey and great fitting, strong soapy scent, medium-high tackiness. Wouldn't use again due to the eww factor but it's a decent mask I would give a B.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yes @eshoe ! Iโ€™ve used it last year at one point. Honestly it grossed me out much less than some other ingredients! If memory serves I enjoyed it!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I agree @missjeanie! Horse oil ๐Ÿ˜

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe I was just reading about it as well.   Itโ€™s apparently a steroid supplement as it help with healing by increasing circulation.  Interesting.

from the internet-

Deer velvet covers the growing bone and cartilage that develops into deer antlers. People use deer velvet as medicine for a wide range of health problems. Deer velvet is used to boost strength and endurance, improve the way the immune system works, counter the effects of stress, and promote rapid recovery from illness

ouhhhh, I really want to try that mask now.  My skin feels so good today.  That could be the result of any of the History of Whoo skincare system I used last night though.  Do you remember if you gave it a B because you were grossed out or due to the results?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@heartsmyface tackiness is one of my least favorite aspects of sheet masking. Pretty sure thatโ€™s why it was a B. Itโ€™s possible the vagueness of how the extract is extracted was cause for concern, too.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe  Yup, I remember that now!  Did you find out what "velvet" meant before or after using the mask?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I think as I was wearing it, @Shosh85 ๐Ÿ˜ณ I remember thinking velvet, wow thatโ€™s pretty cool. Then finding out about all the banning stuff and found it even more interesting. People go to great lengths to boost productivity!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Some mini masks for H (side note I have so many H things haha) - this is the How do eye look eye patches and the Hyaluranic acid patches.

Spoiler
I thought the creme shop eye patches were very cute. They fit well and stayed on while I was walking about my apartment. Overall, I have a hard time really telling most eye patches apart in terms of results but these did a solid job of cooling and depuffing.

so I picked up the Bio miracle patches because they reminded me of the peace out ones. These were $4 for the 2 so that makes each individual patch about half the price of the peace out ones. These were slightly bigger than the peace out ones which I liked because they could cover more surface area. I donโ€™t think the needling was quite as intense as on the peace out ones so maybe slightly less absorbing going on. Overall results were super similar - temporary plumping of fine lines that lasted about a day. I think the peace out ones had a bit more plumping, but probably not double the price worth.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888  Those creme shop eye patches look great! I definitely think I'll try those out. Thanks for the review.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888 these just look so cool, bit the price oouchh ๐Ÿคฃ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Those TCS eye masks are just too cute, @Kim888! Thanks for your comparison of the BioMiracle and Peace Out patches.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Those eye gems from The Creme Shop are adorable @Kim888! TCS seems to be putting out some great products year after year since I first learned of them on BIC! ๐Ÿ’–

Not gonna lie, the microneedling patches both fascinate and scare me ... would you repurchase these bio miracle patches?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi I would if I wanted some instant plumping! This one showed people potentially putting them under their eyes and I wouldn't be willing to risk that, but these were fairly mild for forehead lines or between eyebrows.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

The @Kim888  The Creme Shop eye patches really are  so cute! Glad they were effective too!!

I've never used the Peace Out eye patches, but it's good to know theres a more affordable option ๐Ÿ‘

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 they do always have such cute packaging !

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Kim888 Hmm, now I kinda wanna put the micro needle patches to the test. They sound like a great alternative to the pricier Peace Out ones. I also have those Creme Shop eye patches (I love the way they look) but havenโ€™t used them yet. Note to self!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Placenta and snail, though veggie placenta is kinda cheating;)A71D68B3-E6D7-4D02-BC55-C18B3462947D.jpeg

Spoiler

The Passion & Beyond Intensive Ampoule Phytoplacenta piqued my interest after trying another placenta mask during last yearโ€™s gross week challenge. It was a relief to discover placenta can originate from soybeans, and in the case of this mask, rye. So even though it sounds kinda gross, itโ€™s really not!

I opened the mask and was greeted by a very strong, Irish Spring-type scent, bordering on menโ€™s cologne. It unfolded easily and I applied it to my face carefully, adjusted the numerous slits to enhance fit. They were the oddest cuts-a couple were 90-degree angles. It felt a little unnecessary, but at least it fit well. I left it on around 15 minutes, and promptly removed. My skin was soooooooo very tacky. Ten minutes later the tackiness stubbornly remained and I rinsed it off; it just felt like a thick layer sitting on my skin. Despite the lackluster experience with this one, it made me smile. Not since the Glow Loudey stinky-shoe scented mask have I encountered one that stuck out so sorely. A solid C.

The ElishaCoy Snail Hydrogel Eye Patches were recently reviewed here, I think by @PrettyPaint. Very comfy, and for such a slimy patch, adheres pretty well. I have been wearing them under my sheet masks, which helps to secure them in place. They feel like they give a generous amount of hydration, and as far as I can tell, are unscented. Another snail ๐ŸŒ for the win!
