2019 Mask of the Week Main Thread & Misc. Info:

To Post:
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Finishing up last week’s “P” masking:7A7115B5-98A9-40AD-A20C-27CF903A37A8.jpegSephora, Sky Organics, Pacifica & m-61(?)

This morning I wrapped up last week with a couple of new-to-me masks. First though I did a quick scrub with the SEPHORA COLLECTION - Lip Balm & Scrub in Dragonfruit. So far this has been the scrubbiest of the two I’ve tried and I like. An A. Followed up with the Sky Organics lip balm in Eucalyptus Mint. A good balm that leaves my lips a little tingly, plus clean ingredients. Just saw them on Hautelook and wish I had paid more attention!

The m-61 Powerful Skincare is a peeling pad very similar in shape to the DDG ones. They could be cut in half to extend their life, but I’ve been too lazy to do so. This is the second of three pads I have to try. They seem...fine? I just really love my FAB ones (and now I appreciate their shape more, too). So far a B.

The Pacifica has pretty much no scent, that I could detect. It was a bit tall and went into my top hairline and refused to adhere to my chin as it was a little long. The eye openings were hearts, really a nice touch. The ingredients are a major 👍🏼 and as a mask touted to ‘matte and prep’ - I didn’t really notice a matte-ifying effect however it did prep my skin nicely by being just slightly tacky enough to hold my primer (currently oil-based).DE6B1994-7ADA-42B8-B26D-0CE49EC67380.jpeg

I would definitely use this one again and will likely repurchase, an A for effectiveness.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I feel like I have a few Pacifica sheet masks that I need to try out @eshoe I'll have to check to see if this is one.  The dragonfruit lip scrub is pretty great too!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Good to know about the m-61 peel pads @eshoe. I have a couple samples but haven’t been that interested in reaching for them. I feel like I’m pretty set on peel pads with the FAB, DDG and Neogen pads. Even so, that didn’t stop me from looking at the huangjisoo trio set at Costco. 😉😆

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfithe FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads have set such a high standard for me! Always have a backup of those. I do like the DDG but they are just a bit too strong (ok I’m just a wimp; I’m really kind of afraid of them). The Neogen are just a treat-the scent and texture!

I looked at that set on their website, so many good finds lately. Wish the YSL would have been available in a neutral color or two-would have picked up another. Do you have a favorite luxe lip product?

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

FAB is definitely gentler than the DDG peel pads @eshoe. They contain different actives and acids so it depends on how your skin responds to them. Luxe lip products are lovely treats. I think Costco offered a couple of the YSL lippies in different shades; the neutral ones being offered may have sold out more quickly.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe Great ingredients, heart eye and pretty packaging all sound great to me! So happy you enjoyed this one! It'll definitely be going on my list! 👍😃

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 It was great! I’m kind of annoyed at the pricing on their single-use masks but they have expanded so rapidly that I’m not surprised. Should be priced around $3, I think it may have been $5? But definitely one I would use again and feel comfortable gifting to a non-frequent masker.

oh I love the rainbow colors on your review @eshoe and I'...

oh I love the rainbow colors on your review @eshoe and I've yet to try this Pacifica mask!! 🙌💓

Re: oh I love the rainbow colors on your review @eshoe and I'...

Their packaging is pretty @lmaster - I am going to try that bubbling/foaming one you did recently. My daughter has asked that I take her on a skincare shopping trip so I’m toying around with what to go for. I know this brand is at least pretty clean. She loves my La La but she needs an entry-level moisturizer 😂

Re: oh I love the rainbow colors on your review @eshoe and I'...

How sweet!! @eshoe mother daughter skincare shopping extravaganza!!

2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

we're going with End of the Earth here... Betterskin volcanic Ash from Jeju island. interesting very very interesting this mask... this is the type of mask I need,, yes need in my life!! I've been searching for something like this for at least a year. it's a 2 piece clay brown colored mask, each piece is protected in two separate films, which this particular mask needs. placement was awkward because I really didn't know what to expect, I successfully placed the two pieces on my face and the fit was excellent. directions say to leave it on for 45-60 min or until it dries. it reminded me of a plastic cast 😂 and it also reminded me of a pore strip mask,, but for your whole face!! and a peel off mask all in 1. the scent was very earthy, not my favorite. after it dried down about 45 minutes it said to peel the mask off from the bottom, up. exfoliating ummm absolutely!! pores looked amazing!! it did hurt in areas that had more peach fuzz but not excruciating pain. totally impressed, I'm buying more of these asap!! if your are sensitive to peeling masks, this wouldn't be a great choice.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster  These clay/mud sheet masks are great! - they always seem to fit perfect too😉 I have this one in my stash to try still, so I'm happy to hear you loved it! 😃🙌

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I loved how it was a peel off clay mask!! Genius absolutely genius @Shosh85 😆

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster  well this sounds like a very interesting mask. Love your description of it but even more love your results.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster I’m both superb intrigued and a bit scared by the “pore strip for the whole face” descriptor. 😃

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi its another unique experience, it really pulled those pores 🤣

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

OH i've never tried a mask like this before! Thank you for your review! I'll have to keep an eye out for this one. I love the phrase, "pore strip mask, but for your whole face" haha @lmaster

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yep it looked like a nose strip after I peeled it off too 😆 @scott1201

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Youve really peaked my interest here @lmaster ! I’m kinda digging the lore strip for your face idea lol.  Where did you pick this one up?

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie facetory!! It's very interesting! If you get clogged pores on your cheeks like I do 🙄 this is a savior

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm going to be off-challenge all week but also trying new masks so... forgive me? Smiley Happy

Factr Facetory mask:

The material of this mask was a very thick cotton. When I first pulled it out of the packaging I did not have high hopes. Normally, thick cotton masks don't adhere well and seem to dry up without hydrating my skin. However! This one somehow stuck right to my face (without the mask holder) and the serum was a thick, white, serum. There was literally none left in the package so I guess the mask had soaked it all up. It felt great when it put it on! Super cooling, almost in a tingly way but not tingle like acid, but tingle like it was just really cold. It was bone dry after about half an hour. Would use again!
