Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Yea, yea. We know. I love this mask. They have came out with a smaller & cheaper tube though! I couldnt tag the specific one but its $35. Might have to get that sooner than later I would love the tube form! And I'm trying to just kill the instamud. Its fun.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Oooh. SuperMud is in tube form now @sonnydee?! 😍 I have to pick that up before my “no buy” starts. Tagging @Shosh85 - it’s in tube form!!! More hygienic and less messy! ♥️

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi @sonnydee  Oooh nice! I think everything should be in tube form! 😃👍

F is for The Face Shop

Glutathione.jpeg

Sheet Mask

Spoiler
I've been bombarding parts of my face with some heavy-duty zit zapping skincare products and for the most part, the few ugly, large acne spots that have crept up are being effectively treated, if causing me some heartache. Sigh. 😞 To soothe my skin and add a little brightness to my complexion, I reached for The Face Shop Bio-Cell Brightening Face Mask, a soft, thin, gel-like bio-cellulose sheet mask geared toward brightening the complexion. The mask feels cool against my skin as it melds easily to the contours of my face, and wraps comfortably like a blanket around my face, the slightly herbal and very lightly citrus scented essence infused in the mask.

Glutathione is the star ingredient in this particular sheet mask - it is a non-enzymatic antioxidant that is naturally found in the body but like most things, gradually depletes from our body as we age. It is a tripeptide that works to diminish the visible signs of aging and environmental damage and helps to brighten the skin by inhibiting the production of melanin-producing enzymes. This seemed like a good go-to mask for the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that inevitably follows my breakout. After 20 minutes, my skin felt soft, looked hydrated, refreshed, and brightened. My acne spots are less red and even the largest of them seemed less angry. The mask did what it claimed to do and is one that I would repurchase. Thank you to the wonderful @keana1 for sending this lovely mask my way!

Lip Balm

Spoiler
Laneige Lip Glowy Balm - Gummy Bear is a lightly moisturizing, pinky/purple lavendar tinted balm, the consistency of which reminds me more of a cross between a gloss and a balm than a pure balm. It glides on smoothly, makes my lips soft and adds a light sheen to them. It's a nice complement to the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask - Gummy Bear, which I used last night and which has a thicker, slightly tacky consistency like the other flavors in the brand's lip sleeping mask collection.  @SportyGirly125  likened it to grape candy, and keana1 said raisin candy. I had a harder time picking up on the grape flavor; whenever I smelled both products, all I could think of was gummy candy, no particular flavor. sportygirly125 put her detective skills to work and uncovered gummy lifesavers and I think that is spot on! 😊

I can't seem to tag the new LE Gummy Bear flavor . . .

The Oozoo Fresh Capsule Royal Jelly Mask

This mask has a capsule of serum on the front of the package, that you are supposed to firmly press, releasing it into the pouch. After bursting the capsule, you are to massage the pouch, ensuring it all gets distributed evenly. This cotton sheet mask is soaked with serum that has a light, sweet honey type of smell. The mask  fit well and was just a little too long at the chin. It was comfy to wear and had good adherence, just the extra length at the chin popped up a couple times. I had it on for about 40 minutes. When I removed it the little bit of serum that was left was a little tacky, but it all absorbed pretty quickly. My complexion looked clearer and brighter, my skin felt smooth and hydrated and had a very nice glow.

This one never gets old. I will probably always continue to repurchase! I was so happy to find it at TJ Maxx!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

"This one never gets old. I will probably always continue to repurchase!" 100% agree @Shosh85! This sheet mask is fantastic! So good! Love this honey version! If they packaged the serum and sold it separately, I would definitely pick it up! 🍯

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi  Oooh, yes, I'd definitely buy a bottle of that serum too! Both this and the Rose one are great, but honey takes first place me! 😃

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

And again, 100% agree with you @Shosh85! The honey mask is oh, so good!! 🍯 The rose mask is a nice one as well but my heart belongs to the honey! 💖

No lasting tackiness, wear time was 20 minutes, maybe a bit longer,, I'm really impressed with this one, the fusion of the brightness of my skin and the hydrating and Moisturizing and calming is a perfect match! Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

The fusion line is possibly my favorite line from The Creme Shop and this peach one, the coffee one and the ones @Shosh85 mentioned, the blueberry and raspberry ones, are among the ones I  repurchase from the brand. Happy to hear this was a love for you @lmaster. It smells so good!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi  Mmmm, that Caffe Mocha one smells delicious! 😋 @lmaster

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@Shosh85 @lmaster, it does make me wonder whether I would love these fusion masks so much if they didn't smell so good! 🤔

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi  A good scent is definitely the cherry on top for me!

@lmaster

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

I can say @itsfi @Shosh85 it definitely helps boost the love meter 😆

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@lmaster  I'm so happy to hear you loved it! This, along with the Blueberry and Raspberry ones are a few of my most favorites from the brand! 😃😋

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

U = ubiquinone, aka coenzyme Q10. Last night I used another blind selection from my one-offs bin: Yerma Q10 Collagen Essence Mask.

I think this is the first and only Yerma mask I've ever used.I think this is the first and only Yerma mask I've ever used.

Notes:

Spoiler

Claims: Nourishes skin and improves elasticity; reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Ingredients: I’ve said a few times that I love fairly short ingredients lists, as long as they contain beneficial ingredients with no bad-for-me stuff. Of these 17 ingredients, the only iffy one for me is fragrance. Q10 is good, of course; collagen is still in the “I’ll believe it’s effective [applied topically to skin] when more dermatologists and scientists prove it” category for me. More important to me than both those ingredients are soothers aloe and purslane (portulaca oleracea), plus good ol’ panthenol and vitamin E. There’s also lots of vitamin E in purslane, which is also a great source of vitamins C and A, plus omega-3 fatty acids. Its one of my favorite skincare ingredients.

Spoiler
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Panthenol, Polysorbate 80, Beta-Glucan, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrolyzed Collagen (0.126%), 1,2- Hexanediol, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Ubiquinone (0.01%), Fragrance

Performance: This medium-thick cotton sheet had eye flaps that I snipped off. Otherwise, it fit me perfectly: big enough eye and mouth holes, great length and stretchable width, perfect philtrum (so many masks are too short or tall in this little space between nose and lip), and the nose had slits down the center (but not all the way to the tip) to help the sheet get full skin contact. The sheet was a fairly soft and nicely cooling experience.

There was about a handful of thin milky runny serum in the sleeve. It had a floral scent, and I’m still trying to figure out what flower(s) it reminds me of. It kinda smelled like there was also a bit of tang in the fragrance, probably a citrus note. The fruit fly who kept trying to interfere with last night’s dinner decided to investigate this mask a couple times during the 30 minutes I wore it. By then, the sheet had given up nearly all it had. It took just a couple minutes to massage residual serum into my skin. I had no pilling and mild tack.

Results: Moderately hydrated, slightly more radiant, and cooled down skin. My face felt very nice, even if it wasn’t plump with hydration. Some of my redness was reduced, and my skin felt calmer. I’m sure aloe’s to thank for that. With repeated use over time, this mask might indeed reduce the appearance of fine lines thanks to Q10. But I got no immediate results in that category, which I honestly didn't expect anyway.

I think this is the first Yerma mask I’ve ever used, though I’ve had it for months. It makes me kinda curious about the other masks in this Collagen Essence line... maybe curious enough to find out what's in them. I assume they share a base set of ingredients including hydrolyzed collagen—and that ingredient's not enough to entice me to buy more masks. This Q10 mask was nice but didn't outperform other aloe masks I already have. And that's primarily what this is: an aloe mask that also contains ubiquinone. 🤷‍♀️
