Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@itsfi  Grapefruit sounds wonderful!  And what a great list of ingredients!  Haha, where did you find this mask?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@heartsmyface, the grapefruit sheet masks I’ve been using the last couple of days has me craving an actual grapefruit now. 😆 @PrettyPaint sent this one to me. I looked online and it seems the only place I could find them was directly through the bizoo site. They’re OOS at Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@itsfi  Is this one that you use them all together? I wonder if the virgin unicorn essence is what gives the lit from within glow? I would always imagine if I had unicorn essence it would make me feel and look youthful!! Or like a rainbow 🌈 grapefruit sounds wonderful especially this time of year. It gives that extra little perk of summertime!!! Glad you enjoyed this one!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

You already do look youthful @ather!!!

Yep, these are ones you can use daily. You could also spread them out; not necessary to use them consecutively. There are 20 in a pack and I’m currently debating with myself whether to do all 20 days consecutively or to use them Monday thru Friday.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@itsfi  Aww thank you 😍

that’s such an interesting concept!! Can’t wait to see the results over a long period!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@itsfi  Oh what a fun name! I've never heard of this one before - it really sounds wonderful! 😃

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@Shosh85, this is the first I’ve heard of this brand too. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I added it to my list of brands to look into; you know, for when my mask collection becomes sparse... hahaha! 😂

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@itsfi you have to love a mask that has unicorn in the ingredients,, lol hopefully no unicorns were harmed 😆

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

Right @lmaster!! I was buzzing through the inci list, happy as can be with all the wonderful ingredients and then I read “unicorn” 🦄 and I circled back to read it again, even magnifying it, just to make sure it said what I thought it said! 😍 I sure hope no unicorns 🦄 were harmed. Seems unlikely to be the case from a brand named bizoo oohhaa... 😉

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

Oh I can't wait to hear about the results from this @itsfi

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

I will keep you posted @emaisgr8. 😃 So far, so good! ♥️

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

One more fruits & veggies week mask, this one generously gifted by @l8totheparty (thanks so much!): L’HERBOFLORE Strawberry Glowing Hydromask, from their Garden of Venus mask series.

I’m surprised I’d never tried this one before.I’m surprised I’d never tried this one before.

Notes:

Spoiler

Claims: Brightens, hydrates, and moisturizes.

Ingredients: This list tells me to expect hydration and moisturization (aloe, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, sodium PCA, castor oil), some skin soothing (aloe, licorice, allantoin), a blend of strawberry’s antioxidants (including vitamin C), and some anti-aging help from the specific peptide used here.

Spoiler

AQUA, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, FRAGARIA CHILOENSIS (STRAWBERRY) FRUIT EXTRACT, SODIUM HYALURONATE, PANTHENOL, DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHIZATE, HYDROXYACETOPHENONE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, SODIUM PCA, STARCH HYDROLYSATE, ALLANTOIN, PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, MANNITOL, ACETYL TETRAPEPTIDE-11, SODIUM NITRATE, SODIUM CITRATE, CITRIC ACID, GLYOXAL, TRIETHANOLAMINE, FRAGRANCE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SODIUM BENZOATE

Performance: This very thin and soft cotton sheet is one of the most comfy masks I’ve ever worn. Thanks to its width and perimeter cuts, I had no trouble adjusting the sheet to cover my whole jaw. It’s the perfect length for me, folding just enough under my chin. The eyeholes were nearly perfect for me: tall enough to not cover my lids or entire brow bones, but short enough to still cover all the skin directly above my brows (in addition to parts of my brows); only issue was the inner corners not laying flat (no slit/notch there), but that didn’t bother me, so no snipping required anywhere. I like that it came with backing, though I’m not sure I needed it. Anyone who can unfold a super thin cellulous sheet without tearing it could probably handle this cotton sheet without the plastic backing.

There wasn’t much watery serum left in the sleeve. It had a pleasant light strawberry scent and I kinda wish it was more prominent; I could barely smell it during the 25 minute weartime. The sheet’s forehead had begun to dry out by then, but the rest of the mask was still serum-soaked: after sheet removal, I squeezed a good handful of serum out of it and applied that to my chest and shoulders. Then I spent one minute massaging and pressing in residual serum.

I had no tackiness but I did get some pilling. I waited another 5 minutes, redid my dry finger test, and got more pilling. It was a light amount—nowhere near the massive pilling I always get from the Yellow Squeeze Bombee Fruitables (the only mask in that series I absolutely hate), but still enough that I had to give my face a quick wipe-down with a damp bamboo round.

Results: Well hydrated (even before I used the damp round), moisturized, and soft skin that looked a bit brighter than usual. For dry or dehydrated skin, I highly recommend spritzing water or a hydrating mist on your skin after this mask serum’s completely soaked in, so the serum’s HA and sodium PCA can lock onto that extra moisture. Since I’d already put a little extra hydration on my face post-mask via damp bamboo round, all I needed was my usual YTTP Superfood Moisturizer to finish my PM routine.

I used this mask after exfoliating with Paula’s Choice 10% AHA (also contains 0.5% BHA), spot treating with PC BHA 9, and applying The Inkey List Retinol. I want to try this mask again with an extra layer of hyaluronic acid underneath to see if that can reduce the pilling (by attracting more of the mask serum to my skin), and perhaps stopping at 15-20 minutes of wear. So, jury’s still out on this one. I love the sheet and like the results, so I hope I can minimize the pilling next time.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@WinglessOne @Aw too bad the scent wasn’t prominent with this one!  Who doesn’t like a strong strawberry scent?  I love the ingredients in this one.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@WinglessOne  Sounds awesome minus the piling and the light scent. I guess a light scent is better then a super strong over powering one. Hopefully you can figure out the perfect conditions to get the piling to stop!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

A million thank you’d for the tip on layering HA underneath to reduce pilling, @WinglessOne. That is one of my top beauty pet peeves, and I still haven’t pinpointed the ingredient/combos that cause it. Now I need to find a good HA-only serum. It’s always something🙄

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@WinglessOne  This one sounds great! I'll have to watch out for that pilling when I get around to trying mine. Glad you enjoyed it! 😃

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

@WinglessOne I it sounds so good,, I hope you can figure out the pilling

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

Love L'Herboflore masks @WinglessOne and happy to hear this one gave you some good results, minus the pilling. I've experienced some pilling issues but have often attributed them to the particular SPF not being compatible with whatever moisturizer and/or foundation I was using at the time. I'll try to remember the sheet mask I may have been using at the time as well.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

The L'herboflore masks really are lovely masks to wear- soft and comfy. Glad this one went well minus the pilling issue, @WinglessOne!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge! - PART 1

Last night, some watermelon masking 🍉 thank you to @keana1 for this week’s challenge, which was a lot of fun, because fruity masks are my thing and salads are my favorite food☺️
