2019 Mask of the Week Main Thread & Misc. Info:

To Post:
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@sonnydee @It’s a great deal, but I don’t think I need a second lol, glad you snagged one!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Um....yeah....I'm going to add the summer Friday masks to my list of masks to buy...

Did I miss a summer Friday mask sale? Or are you just talking about the 20% off sale in November?

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@l8totheparty @It’s on sale half off right now in the Sephora sale section!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Must be on the American site @missjeanie

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh, yes @l8totheparty . I flip back and forth so much I often forget what I saw where on sale.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I’m glad you liked the Summer Fridays mask @missjeanie! I got one since it was on sale and now I’m even more excited to try it.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I think you will like this one @faeriegirl it smells so good!!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Was such an expected delight @faeriegirl !  I'll be looking to see how you like it once you test it out.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Today, after too many days of eating whatever and not drinking enough water or moving my body, I wanted to deep clean my skin to get it in a happy place.

I started off with my all time favorite, the ORIGINS - Clear Improvement® Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores. I’ll forever continue to buy this simple charcoal mask. It does a great job of making my skin feel clean without any sensitivity or acids (I just used Babyfacial yesterday and wanted to give my skin a break from chemical exfoliation.)

Then, I tried out a new sheet mask with handy mask holder. I didn’t have high hopes for the Sephora Collection Silver Mask simple because I’ve never really loved the Sephora brand masks. I also got this on sale for $4 which, honestly, is still more than I’d normally pay for a single mask. I probably needed to get over the $25 GWP threshold at some point, hah. ANYWAY, it wasn’t really wet with serum but smelled slightly floral. It adhered okay but I definitely needed the mask holder for daytime, upright, coffee drinkin’, masking session. I left it on for about 20 min and was surprised by how nice, plump, and even toned my skin looked afterward.

I would buy this again if it were cheaper or in a bulk box. But honestly, for the price it isn’t super special. I think the Sephora masks are more kitschy than anything but it was fine. There are a lot of TJ Maxx masks that’ll get you the same result 😉

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@scott1201, that Origins masks is a good spot treatment for me. Smiley Happy For winter, I'm enjoying their version of this mask that includes honey in it.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@scott1201 I'm so glad you have a go to mask for a good deep cleaning!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

V is for Vita + Skin by Sugar Baby

To close out "V" as the letter of the week last night, I went with a bit of a coconut theme with my sheet mask selection and lip scrub and balm. This mask brand is not one I had heard of prior to being gifted it by the lovely @l8totheparty, but the Vita + Skin by Sugar Baby Good-Bye to Dry Deep Moisture Boost Face Mask sounded like something right up my alley. It claims to hydrate, revitalize and nourish the skin and just look at those key active ingredients!! Yes, please! The brand is based out of Australia, was founded by two Aussie women and the sheet masks in this line, including this one, have some clever names – love that! The name of the mask reminds me a bit of Leaders Daily Wonders masks, a sheet mask line that I love.

Adherence is great and it’s one of the better masks in terms of fit for my face shape. It’s about 1/4” – 1/2” inch too wide at the temples, and 3/4" inch too long at the chin. In terms of the facial features, the holes and slits are nicely situated and the mask does include eye flaps which I love for the ability to cover more surface area under my eyes. I only have to make the slightest of snips and folds to the bottom inner corner of the eyes and my adjustment was more out of an abundance of caution. I probably didn’t need to make the adjustments but I didn’t want to chance any of the essence getting near my eyes. The mask has a slight scent to it that is vaguely reminiscent of a cleaning product; not at all to the level of Pledge but the fragrance leans slightly towards a cleaning product, but it dissipates quickly and completely. Since this mask was not at all drenched in the essence, I decided to stick to the 15 minutes recommended in the instructions, which did not direct me to rinse off the essence.  There’s not much excess essence left to the mask after the 15-minute wear time and my skin quickly soaks up what little does remain on my face. There’s a fresh-faced brightness to my complexion and my skin looks and feels hydrated.  Thank you @l8totheparty for sharing this one with me; my skin enjoyed it.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi sounds like this was one great mask for you!  How kind of @l8totheparty to share this one with you.

I have that TCFS coconut scrub sitting in my truck and have been using it between jobs this week lol.  It really leaves behind a nice balmy feeling!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Balmy is a good way to describe the scrub/balm @missjeanie! 😃
