Me too, @ShortErica , me too. I'm not a morning person either, so no morning masks for me.
@m3rc3d3s was quite interested in this mask as I have this one too. I too dont have much time in the morning to mask so i typically do in the evening. I may not be so inclined to try this as a primer mask and just use as a regular. I dont wear much make up anyways.
@m3rc3d3s @I feel like primer masks are kinda a waste of time since you can slap a primer on in a matter of seconds. They don’t do anything that your basic morning skincare can’t achieve better. Just an opinion though. I still have a lineup of them that I may as well use up this week.
@m3rc3d3s I believe @lmaster just recently tried this mask.
There are a couple of flash masks/30 second-3 minutes masks with vitamin C that are nice for a little quick 'glow.' The REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facialhas been my recent favorite. FRESH - Vitamin Nectar Vitamin C Brightening Powderis another fast-mask I like that takes a minute to use. It's hard to wake up with enough time to devote to a sheet mask most days!
Nice ! Thanks for the recommendations! I will definitely have to check these quick 'flash masks' out!!!
@m3rc3d3s I always feel a little blah about "priming" masks as well - I haven't tried this specific one, although I do believe I have it, but I didn't really feel like the ones I used were worth it either
This mornings masking included the Kocostar Eye patches, which I previously tried in this challenge, and the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue mask. Sidenote - I had MUCH better luck with the eye patches this time. Thanks @Shosh85 for the tip about squeezing out some of the serum so they adhere better! Also the Fresh mask has xanthan gum, so it’s a two for one with the theme this week!
I did a little research on xanthan gum, as I’m only familiar with it in a baking context. Basically it’s an ingredient that binds and stabilizes the other ingredients in the product. It is thought to have some potential hydrating properties, but is mostly used to improve the texture and fluidity of a product.
The Fresh mask is supposed to have anti-aging properties, as well as provide hydration. I mainly used it for hydration, as it’s impossible to see anti aging benefits in one use. There is seaweed in the mask, and you can tell. It has physical pieces of seaweed in it. I didn’t mind, but don’t do what I did, which was get dressed before washing it off, because I ended up with little bits of seaweed on my top and had to change. The smell is a little strong, but is exactly like a freshly cut cucumber. I found it refreshing, but i did notice it while it was on, so if you’re sensitive to scent it may not be for you.
The consistency was a smooth creme, similar to other hydration cream masks. It didn’t totally dry down, but then again, it was only intended to be left on for 5 mins. I left it on for 7-8. It washed off really easily. My skin felt bright, hydrated and SO soft. When they advertise radiance - they DELIVER!
Super pleased with this mask, an easy A for me! I mean it’s $80 CAD for 100ml, but the foil was 4ml and I had a bit of extra so it would last a long time. Oops realized there is a mini that’s $33CAD for 30ml. Not too bad.
Other notable ingredients - the “super 7 complex”: lotus seeds (I didn’t notice any exfoliation, and my face is usually irritated by physical exfoliants but I had no problem), red algae, kombu seaweed, maca root, sea fennel... and 2 other ingredients for some reason aren’t listed anywhere? But there is also cucumber, coconut, fig and hibiscus extracts in there!
@divaknits very spa like! and im happy with the results!
The Fresh masks sounds lovely @cianni . I like the idea of a 5 minute mask, and cucumber sound lovely as a scent. How are you enjoying the Kocostar eye masks? I find that the Acai ones I've been using are pretty meh.
@missjeanie i think ive used the kocostar three times now. i like how they adhere (when theyre not dripping in serum and sliding off my face). in terms of results, i have a super dry underye area the day after i use a prescribed acne treatment, and they have been decent at mitigating that. nothing revolutionary, but i appreciate that theyre fragrance free. mostly i feel glamorous when i use them, so thats the main draw LOL
@cianni You're glamorous every day! but really feeling it means they're worth it!
Ooooh, I have this mask kicking around! @cianni
Thanks for the review, I'm going to have to schedule it in to use!
@l8totheparty looking forward to hear how you find it when you use it!!
@lmaster ive been having some pretty successful masking lately!
@cianni I'm glad the patches stayed on better! How did you like them?
Glad to hear the Fresh mask worked out so well for you! I thought the results were great too! 😃
@Shosh85 it's so satisfying when a mask you havent tried works out so well! it really can be a toss up sometimes hahaha. i like the texture of the kocostar and now that they adhered better, i can see myself using them more often. i dont know if i saw a ton of results, but my undereye area felt hydrated, which i need because sometimes its so dry that my concealer picks up on the dry bits and it looks like a mess. but also theyre very pretty and i felt glamorous so, that definitely factors in!
