ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It’s a way to extend the wear time of the mask and get as much of the jelly essence / serum to your skin, @ShortErica. I know some just like to put the mask on and not have to reapply anything so another approach would be to swipe off the extra serum from the interior of the packet, apply the extra serum onto the skin first and then put the mask on over it.

Re: RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You're always so knowledgeable. Thanks @itsfi! I'm excited to try mine out. I think "I" is favorites week so I'll be doing some Yadah for sure. 🙂

Re: RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @ShortErica, but it all comes from trial and error; when I first started using sheet masks, there were definitely quite a lot of errors.  😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I have seen this Jelly pack mask show up a lot on this thread so it must be a good one, @itsfi ! Also, super love the idea of blind picking masks. That way, you use up the ones that have been hanging out in your collection for a while!

Just for my own clarification, it's a cotton mask, right? The name always throws me off and keeps me from purchasing it when i see it at TJX. I'm not a fan of hydrogel masks and "Jelly Mask" makes me think, ehhhhh

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@scott1201, the mask is made of cotton and has a somewhat gauze like look and feel. The “jelly” in the mask name refers to the texture of the essence/serum.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Blind pick ended up being this mask that has been hanging in my drawer for a long while. It’s an odd one, like... a mud mask sheet? It’s mud mask on a mesh. It was effective and my skin was even toned after. Not sure exactly how I ended up with this one, but if I find another in my drawer I’d definitely use it. image.jpg

you are reminding me that I need to try one of these @Weetart 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds lovely! @Weetart

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Weetart, I have a variety / sampler set with this sheet mask! Sounds like some good results. Mud masks in sheet form are great for portability. Will have to give this one a try soon.

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It is certainly a good form for travel @itsfi ! I’m going to have to get some more. Yeah, I can’t remember where I got this, most likely a sample or mystery pack from soko glam or something.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Weetart I've really enjoyed the few

mud sheet masks I've tried - so happy to hear you liked this one and that it gave you some nice results! 😃

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @Shosh85 ! I have seen them a couple times but it sounded odd so I passed on them. It was a good mask.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Simply When Future Fresh 'Smooth Out' Sheet Mask

This is a super thin, mesh cotton sheet mask that was soaking with serum and didn't really had much of a scent, maybe just a very faint lemon scent, but nothing I could smell while it was on. It had a sort of wonky fit - it was a tiny bit too wide at the sides of the forehead, a little too long at the chin, the eye holes were too big and the mouth hole didn't quite line up right. So it's a good thing it was thin, 'cause there was a lot of smooshing going on. Despite all the smooshing it adhered well and was comfortable to wear. I had it on for about a half hour. The serum absorbed very quick after removing it and there was only the slightest bit of tack that also absorbed fast. My face felt refreshed, comfortably hydrated and soft and smooth.

This was a nice one, and I'd repurchase, it's just not an 'immediately run out the door to get' kind of repurchase.

oh cool! I've never seen this one @Shosh85 we love to smoosh 😆

Re: oh cool! I've never seen this one @Shosh85 we love to smo...

@lmaster This one definitely required some major smooshing 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, the When sheet masks have been good to my skin, but yeah, fit. I'm like you, the fit isn't necessarily a deal breaker for me; most of the time, it's just minor adjustments - my mini scissors get a near daily workout. Hahaha! Happy that this one was good to your skin.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Thanks to you I can finally try out the set! Have you tried any of these yet? Can't wait to try the others! 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, I’m really happy to hear you are enjoying these. I want to say I’ve tried 3 of the ones from this set - the masks in the white, green and I want to say the pink one.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 Fit is always an issue for me with the sheet masks. Eye holes are too small width is too large etc

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@fatimamummy  Yeah, I rarely run across a mask that fits perfectly, there always seems to be at least one thing off - for me that's usually the chin being too long. I'm not super picky about fit though, as long as the results are good I can usually look past a bad fit. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 I've been really appreciating the buy summary at the end. "Yes repurchase, but not hunt it down immediately" is nice to know vs. "GET IT NOW!!!" Hahaha.
