2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I love the slice masks for the funsies. I actually find the strawberry ones to fit nicely on my nose and chin.... and I happened to take a couple photos last night. IMG_3783.JPGfaceIMG_3782.JPGdécolletage

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

How fun, @Weetart! Are these the Kocostar Strawberry Slices?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Why yes they are! I love how strong of a strawberry scent they have. @eshoe

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I haven’t tried the strawberry scent yet @Weetart  but I’m sure it won’t be longSmiley Wink

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Weetart These look great! The shape of them are nice! 🍓😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 is right, seeing your pics @Weetart makes me think it would be much more enjoyable to mix and match different slices on your face and body with friends.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Totally @ShortErica I can see those kiwi ones or cucumber fitting better on the cheeks etc.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Weetart,  the strawberry slices are the cutest, like the artsy placement, too!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Lol thanks @byme4u it definitely brought me joy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica Haha! You look great! The slice masks are definitely more for fun - I brought some over to my teenage nieces birthday party and they were all having fun taking selfies. 😂🤳 When these first came out, they were actually originally intended to be used on dry areas like elbows and knees. Another good use for them that a couple of other ladies and I were talking about on here is that they could be used underneath a detox or exfoliating mask to cover areas that are known to be more dry – so if your cheeks are always extra dry or dry out easier than the rest of your face, you can cover them up with the slices and the rest of your face will still get a good detox.

So strange about the eye mask. I've gotten a couple that were different thicknesses too! Some batches must've been cut wrong. 🤔

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

As soon as I realized the true nature of the mask I thought it would be good for sharing. If only I would have known beforehand. How you used it sounds like way more fun @Shosh85.

Both sad and happy to hear I'm not alone about different thickness eye masks. I wonder why that happens. I would happily QA different lots of eye masks to ensure they are good and consistent products. 😁

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Totally get your reasoning on the slices masks @ShortErica .  I've tried a few of them and I like the fun factor, and like you pulled some off before others.  But I too feel bad for the parts of my face that didn't get the mask.  I guess maybe if you had super combination skin where only some parts need the mask it wouldn't be too bad?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I thought about that too @missjeanie. my husband has very combo skin so I could see that working out. But for me, yes fun and nice to try but I wouldn't seek them out.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I don’t think I would like the slice masks @ShortErica, the eye mask sounds nice though.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm hoping to see some eye mask comparisons during dual week @faeriegirl. A different one under each eye.

Nature Republic Pomegranate Real Nature Hydrogel Mask

This is a two piece hydrogel mask that has plenty of serum and didn't have much of scent that I could tell – maybe a very light clean and fresh kind of smell? It had a great fit, just the nose flap was a little too long. The adherence was great on the top piece, but the bottom part slid around quite a bit. I left it on for about 40 minutes. When I removed it most of the serum had absorbed and my skin was a little tacky, but it faded quickly. My face was noticeably brighter, looked and felt smoother and my skin stayed hydrated for quite awhile. I enjoyed this one and would use it again, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to repurchase.75223E8F-DDE2-4D48-AB6B-F870112DE338.jpeg

Leaders Tundra Cranberry Anti-Aging Mask

This is a super thin and comfortable bio cellulose mask that came sandwiched between two protective layers. There wasn't much of a scent, just a light, fresh and clean sort of smell. The fit was pretty good– just a teeny tiny bit too wide at temples and slightly too long at the chin. I kept it on for about 35 minutes, and when I removed it there was still quite a bit of serum that was a little tacky. My face looked a little brighter, felt refreshed and that 'more awake' look and feel. My skin felt comfortably hydrated and had a very nice glow. The tackiness took awhile to absorb and when it did my face looked and felt smoother.

I really enjoyed this one and it's going on my list of repurchases.

@Shosh85 so glad you like the cranberry mask, I had pulle...

@Shosh85 so glad you like the cranberry mask, I had pulled this one out, but grabbed a different one, so be I'll be looking forward to trying it,, sorry the pomegranate mask was super slippery!

Re: @Shosh85 so glad you like the cranberry mask, I had pulle...

@lmaster Thats how most hydrogels are, so I can't say I wasn't expecting it. They always seem to stick a little better after drying a bit. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That leaders cranberry sounds fantastic @Shosh85 .  Going onto the list!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie I'll definitely be repurchasing this one! 😃
