Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks	itsfi
Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette	sonnydee
Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm	cianni
Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal	heartsmyface
Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold	cianni
Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed	eshoe

@ShortErica  I’m pretty sure it’s the same one! I probably have an old package. I had to go digging to find something. I have a box of samples I should try to work my way through and it was on the bottom!!

@ather I tried this one and I was a little surprised--for a "sleeping mask" I think I expected it to be heavier but I found it to be incredibly lightweight (guess that's why it's a "water mask") and it seems like it could easily be worn as an everyday moisturizer (but YMMV).

@ather definitely agree.  While it seems appropriate for summer/warmer months I don't think it would really suit me very much in the winter when I REALLY need the extra hydration.

Okay, I’m stretching the W, too...

This mask Wrecked my skin: FRESH - Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue MaskFor me, being “rescued” by this mask was akin to a person overboard being thrown a cactus life preserver 🌵😬🌵  

The directions indicated that I should “add warm water and massage the skin,” but the gritty particles were so sharp that it was painful to do so. It honestly felt like I was rubbing my face with grains of broken glass, so I stopped and rinsed everything off as quickly as I could. Minutes later, my skin was covered in a rashy, pimply break out. 

This mask is highly rated so I began questioning whether I had received a defective batch. However, I found several reviews, like this one posted by @AgAudi a couple weeks ago, that describe a similar experience:

“The particles in this mask are very angular and irregularly shaped, meaning that if I follow the directions and massage it on my face during application, some particles internally create micro-tears in my skin. Not good.”

Has anyone else found the particles unusually sharp? I have never experienced this with other exfoliating masks before.

@byme4u  Holy cow! Good catch on that ingredient! 🕵️‍♀️ 

I hadn’t noticed it, but it’s right there on the product page. That would definitely explain the abrasiveness, especially if a particular batch of the product contained shell pieces that hadn’t been processed correctly.
