2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85

I guess there's one way to find out! But that won't be the next mask I use at moment 😉

Thanks for the heads up!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yeah @Shosh85, having denatured alcohol that high up on the ingredients list isn't ideal for this line, but fortunately, I've not experienced any extra dryness or negative effects as a result. I do love these masks. They wouldn't be candidates for daily sheet masking but I'll use them occasionally, especially the propolis one.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi The Propolis is the one I'm most excited to try! Happy you like it! 🍯

Luckily, I have not had any issues using alcohol, but still try to be aware of masks that have it and space out my usage. When I think about, I'm sure I used plenty of masks with alcohol before I got into checking ingredients and finding out about bad alcohol, because I used a lot of Creme Shop back then and never remember having any issues with those.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I definitely like it when a mask makes my skin feel a bit bouncy Smiley Happy @Shosh85

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PrettyPaint I like that bouncy feel too - makes me feel younger 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85  Haha I think that’s why I like it too 😁

I live through you @Shosh85 😆 thanks for reviewing this one

I live through you @Shosh85 😆 thanks for reviewing this one

Re: I live through you @Shosh85 😆 thanks for reviewing this one

@lmaster Yeah, probably not a mask for you... or anyone sensitive to alcohol. I don't seem to be sensitive at all, but I do try and space out when I use them. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

F is for fruit again, but this time, it's all about strawberries!!

IMG_8377.JPG

Spoiler

Narikiri Face Pack – My Melody is part of a pack containing 2 sheet masks – this strawberry one and a yogurt sheet mask. I was hoping that this sheet mask would smell of strawberries, but it did not. It had a subtle clean scent which I’m happy with – definitely beats a bad smelling mask. Besides, I had the yummy scent from The Crème Shop My Melody Handy Dandy Cream – Strawberry Cake, a gift from the thoughtful @faeriegirl – thank you! Smiley Happy This smells so good. It makes me hungry for strawberry shortcake. Probably not the best choice for breakfast so I may have to see if anyone wants to take a dessert break with me later this afternoon.

Back to the sheet mask, in terms of fit, length and width are not bad, just a smidge too long and wide. The eye and mouth holes are too small for my features and the nose bridge is really wide. I didn’t make any adjustments to keep the mask intact so you could see the design on it. The results from the mask are nice – lightly hydrating and my complexion looked fresh and a bit brighter. I’d say this is a mask that would work well for most of the year for those with normal, combo or oily skin. For those with dry or dehydrated skin, it might not offer enough hydration on its own to dry or dehydrated skin types in the fall and winter, but could be a good one to reach for in the warmer months. I also think it would be nice as a morning mask.

IMG_9504.JPG

After the essence from the sheet mask was fully absorbed into my skin (it didn’t take long), I reached for the Bybi 100% Cold Pressed Strawberry Seed Oil, which I had purchased a few months ago. I had walked into a nearby boutique that specializes in clean beauty products, without any intention of getting an oil. I actually went in to buy one of the Bawdy butt masks for the meet up earlier in the year. This beauty was on display next to the basket with the bum masks so I picked up the tester to see how it smelled and oh my goodness! it smelled amazing!!!  I couldn’t stop smelling my hand as I was walking around the store so I had to take it home with me. Other than the delicious strawberry scent, this oil makes my skin feel soft, hydrated and nourished. I alternate using this one and the Farmacy Honey Glow Oil in the mornings, but as I am typing out this post, I’m wondering how they would perform (and smell really) if I combined the two oils – the thought of a strawberry honey scented oil sounds divine, doesn’t it? Okay, that just got put on the top of my to do list. Smiley Wink

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi - what a cute mask! I see these in the store and always wonder if they are any good. Sounds like they are worth checking out at least.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Agree @nuinui933; the design on these is pretty cute. 😃 The masks themselves are pretty good too.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

1. Dessert is good to eat anytime

2. The mask is adorable

3. Can't wait to hear how the old mixing smells and works

Thanks for the review @itsfi

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica - I'm all for your first point. lol.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The mask design is very cute @ShortErica! I wonder what the yogurt mask that came with this one will look like.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ok this masking session was just too sweet @itsfi! I noticed the mask first, adorable Smiley Happy

The BYBI Strawberry booster sounds absolutely lovely and somehow I've already found it online, huh. I wonder if you mixed the two (with the Farmacy as you mentioned) how it would stack up against the Volition Strawberry serum. I think @faeriegirl has tried that - does it have a scent?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, I have a DS of the Volition strawberry serum, but I don’t think that contains honey in it so not sure if that would be comparable to the blend of BYBI strawberry and Farmacy honey oils. @faeriegirl

That’s great that you found the BYBI booster online. Are you thinking about picking it up?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I am, @itsfi. It’s on revolve’s site, I’ve never ordered from them before but they’ve been around a little while I believe. Also found the brand’s site, will have a looksie after the morning activities. Time for a bakery grand opening 🧁🍪🍞😋

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe  It smelled like cucumber instead of strawberry. I really liked it at first but about halfway through the bottle it started smelling nasty.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh no @faeriegirl not at all what I was hoping to hear:/

I'm glad this was a good one for you @itsfi! It certainly...

I'm glad this was a good one for you @itsfi! It certainly is adorable!

Re: I'm glad this was a good one for you @itsfi! It certainly...

It’s a nice one @mrsmouse! Wore well, good results and yes, the design on this one is very cute. 😊
