ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @GalPalVal17! 😃 It’s been a fun little challenge for me to coordinate colors and pick masks and products that will complement each other and my skin’s needs. It probably doesn’t hurt that I have a healthy stash of skincare to pick from. 😂🤣

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You make a good point, @itsfi - I find color coordinating helps me use things I often forget about (hidden lip balms, scrubs, etc)!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hidden lip balms and scrubs? What are those, @eshoe?! 🤭😂🤣 I’ve been more aware of ingredients too.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Everywhere, @itsfi 😄 If I’m looking for a color sometimes I scout the house;)

How so with the ingredients, I’m curious!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yeah, I’m trying to be better about not opening too many lip balms all at once...but it’s not so easy @eshoe! I reorganized the contents in my purse and well... it seems nearly every pocket in that handbag (and there were a few) had a lip balm in it. Hahaha! 🤣😂🤣

With ingredients, making sure products with acids are not used too close together, especially if there’s a high concentration in one product, or pairing it with a soothing or calming mask afterwards. I try not to use two products with acids in it in the same masking routine unless I know my skin will be okay with it - for instance, the Glow Recipe Avocado Melt sleeping mask contains PHA; I would not pair it with Tarte Knockout or DE Babyfacial but I would (and I think I have) pair it with the FAB Daily Radiance Peel Pads because those peel pads are very gentle on my skin (and no irritation with a patch test).

Also, if a mask or skincare product has alcohol in it, I’ll aim to pair it with another product geared more towards hydrating or moisturizing the skin, be it another mask, an essence I use before masking or a moisturizer or oil after the sheet mask.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Funny, @itsfi, this weekend I tried to ‘lighten’ my purse a bit, thinking I had too many lip glosses. But I had a good reason and purpose for every single one to remain! I think I have around 7-8 FS and a couple of DS. I wish I could whittle it down, they are all various nudes but with different degrees/shifts of shimmer, glitter, slight brown, slight peach tint...you get the idea😄 So they all stay put. And I’m totally ok with that!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

They’re all different and need to be in your purse at all times!! I totally get it @eshoe! There are times I can’t find a pen, my wallet, etc. in there but a lippie?! Oh there’s definitely gonna be at least a couple in there! Hahaha! 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes @itsfi! I rarely can find a pen (keys can even be a challenge at times) but I always know where the right shade is😆 Each one really does fulfill a very specific purpose, so it’s easy to rationalize 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

that mask sounds lovely @itsfi ! i love subtle scent masks

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It was just what my skin needed @Kim888! I prefer subtle scents in my skincare if there’s going to be fragrance so this was nice! 💕

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfiyour orchid colour scheme is beautiful as well!

Sounds like you're having some good luck with the Innisfree masks this week!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @missjeanie! 🤗 Innisfree has been good to my skin! I’m a fan of their masks and essences. 👍🏼

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Everything about the Innisfree mask sounds wonderful, @itsfi. I *think* there is an Innisfree Orchid Sleeping mask as well; seems I have seen it somewhere while browsing. I wonder how the scent on that would be; guessing strong if the eye cream is as well! Love that this mask is 2 parts - and the material sounds especially interesting!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe I’ve not tried the sleeping mask but I suspect it might have a stronger scent to it. I’m really pleased with this mask! 😍 I’ve only been able to find them in a few places but it will be one of the masks I haul when I take a break from shopping my stash. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Good to know @itsfi, thank you😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I think I really need to try out more Innisfree masks! The results from this one sound wonderful! I like that the scent was subtle – definitely my kind of mask!

I keep hearing about that BKR – I need to give it a try one of these days! Does it have a scent/taste?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Innisfree makes some great masks @Shosh85! ❤️ Many of them are wonderful as everyday masks. The bkr lip balm doesn’t have any scent or taste.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Tonights floral mask is brought to me by Origins and TJ Maxx... The Retexturing Mask with Rose Clay had a stronger floral scent that was a bit much, it wasn't too much to deal with, but nothing pleasant for me.  The mask went on fine and dried down a bit tight, but againIMG_2323.jpg, not unbearable at all.  I washed it off in the shower by massaging the little beads in the mask off.  It only felt mildly exfoliating.  I'm not sure that the mask retexturized anything on my face, but my skin does feel smooth and brighter after the mask.

I followed up with an "I" sleeping mask, the Shiseido Ibuki sleeping mask. I like this sleeping mask, a little goes a long way, it moisturizes nicely and my skin feels good to go in the morning. A solid sleeping mask.

love this origins mask, it does make my skin soft and bri...

love this origins mask, it does make my skin soft and bright @missjeanie

Re: love this origins mask, it does make my skin soft and bri...

Okay... maybe I wasn't imagining it then @lmaster !  Sometimes I try to see a difference in my skin and wonder if I'm just imagining any improvements because I want to see them lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie  I have a DS of that origins mask. Dont remember if I've tried it but yay on the smoothness afterwards. I actually don't mind the masks that dry down and tightness. I love sleep masks so I'll def keep an eye out for that sleep mask.
