Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Awww, thank you @RebeccaBT! 🥰 My skin was happy. 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi If it weren't for the scent, sounds like this mask would be pretty perfect. I didn't know that about geraniums and roses – I'm not sure if I've even smelled a geranium before! 🌹Good to know 👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, the closest I’ve come to smelling geranium is the geranium essential oil at the Muji store and that was not the fragrance I picked up from the mask. 😉 I’m looking forward to the grapefruit mask from this brand. 🤩

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfionce again, a beautiful flat lay!  Too bad about the scent on the sheet mask.  I agree with you on the anti-aging claims.  I'm not going to buy into a half hour sheet mask turning back the hands of time all that much.  But if I can get some good hydration or a bit of brightening out of it, I'll call it a win.

Also... if anyone does have a mask that will make me look 29 again... I'm open to suggestions!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @missjeanie! 🥰 Oh yes, if there’s a mask that will do that, sign me up! 😂😂 Hydrating and brightening masks are good by me!! 💗💕💗💕 Enough hydration and brightness has got to take away a couple of years off the face, right?! 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u, most scents disappear by the time I apply the sheet mask or shortly thereafter so the lingering on this one was a surprise. Yeah, the boscia is a more manageable peel off, if I apply a thicker layer. At this point I’m just trying to finish this current tube. I have an unopen DS of it but I will probably be giving that one away.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh boooo that the scent wasn’t good! @itsfi I feel like my mom has geraniums A’s house plants and they smell lovely, but maybe I’m thinking of another flower? I don’t get a rose scent from them. Hmmm

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yeah @cianni, it was a bummer! The scent was the only downside; something about this one just did not agree with me. I love the coconut mask from the line though and I'm looking forward to giving the grapefruit one a try!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The grapefruit sounds heavenly! @itsfi perfect for the summer 😍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Haha, I’m really been watching a lot of Sesame Street lately and looking at your products I thought to myself ‘today has been brought to you be the letter B’.

I thinknimbe mentioned this before but the Boscia white mask gave me and a friend the most pain we’ve ever experienced with a mask.  And We werent smart enough to rmeove it with water either:/. Since then I began dermaplaning my face so there’s not so much peach fuzz to grab onto.  😄 @itsfi

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hahaha @heartsmyface! 🙂 Yeah, the alphabet is a little fuzzy in the itsfi household  - who knew the letter B makes 2 appearances in the alphabet - as the 2nd letter AND 9th letter of the alphabet?!?! LOL! 🙂

Great point on dermaplaning! I've been applying a thicker layer of the mask since I seem to make less faces when comes to removing the mask when it's thicker. Next time I'll try the dermaplaning beforehand (and let's all cross our fingers I don't nick myself in the process ... oh yes, I can see that happening!) 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This morning my face is feeling great after the Innisfree green tea sleeping pack.  That one gets an A.

I thought I’d use this Iron Man Design Face Pack this morning instead of a primer.  I don’t normally have much luck in the way of skincare benefits from masks with images on them but they do always act as primers  so that’s the plan.  I don’t intend to grade this one cause it’s just fun running around looking like iron man and I won’t be able to grade it unbiased 😄 it has a herbally citrus scent and the cotton is a bit stiff but again no grade cause I am loving it regardless.

I’ve also oiled my hair with coconut oil prepping it to be washed without too much stripping): E8B3BA5D-C011-4C17-8215-01BEC7B357B7.jpeg

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You make the mask a winner @heartsmyface 😄 Love it and I bet there were a few laughs around the house😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface  Lookin' good! You seriously have some fun masks! This one goes awesome with your hair! I need to find me a super hero mask!..... Incredible Hulk would be awesome👍😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface loving the pic! 👍🏼💕You’re an A+++. The mask gets an A; if masking gives you good results (whether as a primer or other benefits) AND it’s fun, then it gets at least an A!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Bahahaha!  Why thank you!  Yeah the best part of printed masks is they look creepy on and I can get a reaction out of the family:)  they are immune to my regular masks so it’s nice to startle them out a bit. @itsfi

love this pic! @heartsmyface

love this pic! @heartsmyface

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'll grade it A+++++!!!! I mean if you're gonna run around with a face mask on it really should have a print like this!  I think I'd buy this one just for the print @heartsmyface ! and I'm not even a huge iron man fan! You look fantastic! This would be the mask where I hope someone rings my doorbell!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

😂 oh I wish someone had!  Printed masks are fun conceptually but most of them look scary on me.   My hubs said I looked less like iron man and more like a Star Trek alien!  Haha, I acccept!  @missjeanie

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'd agree with alien as well! @heartsmyface Either way it's fun and that's what counts!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

For spring florals week, I decided to try my Soo Beauté age defying home peeling kit, which is a 3 step system that contains 0.5% salicylic acid and “white flowers” (ingredient details in spoiler). The first step is an exfoliating pad, the second step is a sheet mask and the third is a serum.

Spoiler

All three steps had a light floral scent, which I found fresh and pleasant. It wasn’t over bearing at all. The first step was actually quite abrasive. It didn’t say how long to use it for, so I just made sure I got my entire face and neck multiple times (I think I spent 4-5 minutes doing this). It was saturated with a light liquid but not drippy. My face felt tingly afterwards during the recommended 3 minutes you’re supposed to wait in between step 1 and 2. Even before using step 2, my face felt very soft, although a tad on the tight side. Step 2 was the sheet mask. The floral scent was stronger but I like it. The mask fit pretty well except for the eyes which were literally rectangular in shape, so I had to adjust. The mask is thin cotton and incredibly wet. There was a lot of serum in the package - if you could even call it that. It has the consistency of water almost. There were no directions as to how long to keep it on, so I left it on until it felt dry, which was around the 55 minute mark. My face didn’t feel tacky or anything, just really smooth! I applied the third step, the serum immediately after. It was more like a watery lotion that took FOREVER to absorb, but my face didn’t need any additional moisturizer after. I did use a facial mist after just because it was slightly tacky and I was trying to go to bed.

Although it isn’t something I would do too often because of how long it’ll take to do all three, the results are AMAZING. My skin is soft and bright and feels fresh. The results are still visible this morning. A big A+++++ for me, especially because the flower scent was nice but not overpowering, and even tho there was a mild active, my skin wasn’t irritated at all and didn’t dry out. I have another 3-step peel from this line, but it has 9% AHA as the active and my skin isn’t ready for that just yet!

Some info on the different white flowers that are listed as ingredients:

Camellia sinesis (used to extract green tea) is an antioxidant, chamomillia has anti-inflammatory properties, and helps neutralize free radicals, artemisia vulgaris (mugwort) is to soothe redness and is supposed to have firming properties, bellis perennis (daisy) I didn’t realize this is also known as tansy, and can be an irritant (which makes sense because I’ve heard a lot of people have bad experiences with the Herbivore blue tansy), jasmine flower helps lighten age-related spots and evening out skin tone, sambucus nigra (elderberry) is a potent antioxidant, lilium candidum (Madonna lily) has potent skin-brightening effects, as well as anti-aging because it helps combat discolouration and pigmentation of the skin, convallaria majoris (lily of the valley) couldn’t really find out any of its benefits, especially because it’s generally considered to be poisonous, leontopodium alpinus (edelweiss) is an anti-oxidant.
