Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: love love the scent of the thirsty mud ❤️ both are great...

It smells amazing 🥥🍍 @lmaster !

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooooh I've only tried a foil of the Thirsty Mud @keana1, but are seriously making me want to try more! Thanks for the reviews, and the reminder that it has such a great scent😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You’re welcome @eshoe ! Maybe you can try the smallest jar of the Thirstymud first before opting for a bigger size jar or tube since everybody’s skin reacts differently to masks and skincare?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@keana1 These are a couple of favorites of mine! So glad you like them too! I love using the SuperMud as a spot treatment – it works so well! The ThirstyMud is one I've repurchased several times because it just feels so great on my dry skin – and the delicious scent is a major plus too! 😃👍🥥

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This my second jar of the Thirstymud @Shosh85 ! The smell is so great, every time I use it, I feel like I’m at a beach somewhere! 🏝🏖🏄‍♀️

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Love these skincare choices @keana1! 💗 I’m using the ThirstyMud this morning as a moisturizer. Love the scent when I open the jar, and it’s so hydrating too!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @itsfi ! ❤️ the Thirstymud !

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

oh my gosh @keana1 I'm so jealous!  I wanted to love that Glam Glow Hydrating Treatment soooo much.  The scent of it was just amazing!  Unfortunately it broke me out in hives.  That scent though... mmmmmmmm

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I’m sorry that your skin disagreed with this mask @missjeanie ! Did you try it as a rinse off mask or as an overnight mask ?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Originally I tried it as an overnight mask.  After the first reaction I set it aside.  Then a few months later I tried it as a rinse off.  still a no go for my skin.  I was so in love with the scent too! lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sorry it didn’t work out as a rinse off mask either @missjeanie !

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@keana1 that's ok.  Not all skincare is going to work for everyone.  I just loved that scent so much!  I'd love it as a fragrance!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I agree with you, it would be a lovely fragrance @missjeanie !

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

For Friday, "G" was about green tea masks.

IMG_3819.JPG

Spoiler

With the green tea masks, the boscia and the Milk masks, I decided to do side-by-side masks to compare the results of both. Both claim to reduce redness, detoxify and absorb excess oil. I tend to use these types of masks as an all over mask during the spring-summer months, when my skin leans more dehydrated-combination and oiler. During the cooler months, I usually just apply the mask to my nose, chin and jawline, so that’s what I did with these two masks.

The boscia mask is creamier and thicker than the Milk Mask; the Milk one is convenient for travel, toting around and applying - thank you @eshoe; this is going to part of the traveling squad this year. Smiley Happy The Milk mask applies very thin and I do apply a few layers to certain parts of my face when I use it, but application is a breeze with it being in stick form. Ultimately, both masks do as they claim. I have a little redness around my nose and sure enough, less redness after the mask. Similarly, my chin and nose looked less oily. So, in terms of results, both are great. For me though, of the two masks, my preference is for the Milk Makeup one, for its ease and convenience of use and because of its ingredients.

My first time using the BOSCIA - MATCHA Magic Super-Antioxidant Mask I liked it but had some concerns based on the ingredients list whether there was actual matcha green tea in the mask or whether it contained white tea and green pigment. The ingredients list suggests the latter which is disappointing. It’s a “B” mask for me.

The MILK MAKEUP - Matcha Detoxifying Face Mask, on the other hand, lists green tea leaf extract in its ingredients, a huge plus. It also contains kombucha and cactus elixir, ingredients I’m fond of and that work well with my skin. I plan to revisit this mask again in the warmer months where I think it will be a mask I can reach for with more frequency on a weekly basis, but for now, it’s is an “B+/A-”.

Tosowoong is one of my favorite brands when it comes to sheet masks. While there are some varieties that I like more than others, overall, the sheet masks in the brand’s Pure line are great. The Tosowoong Pure Green Tea Mask Sheet is no exception. This cotton mask is about the same thickness as most sheet masks, possibly a smidge thicker. It has a subtle scent to it; I don’t think I would say it smells exactly like green tea, but it smells nice and refreshing. There’s a lot of essence in this mask and even more in the pouch – I’m pretty sure you could fill a blank sheet mask pellet nicely with the extra essence. Like most masks, it’s too long at the chin and a little wide for my face shape, but not a big deal; a few adjustments are all that’s needed.  The mask adheres well on the skin and the results are very nice. Green tea extract is the star ingredient and is known for its ability to hydrate, soothe and soften the skin. Other notable ingredients include niacinamide (brightening), adenocine (helps with wrinkles), glycerin, allantoin and panthenol.

I left the mask on for 30 minutes, twice the amount of time suggested, and when I removed it, the mask still had a good amount of essence on it as did my face. I feel like I could have left the mask on for another 30 minutes, but that’s a test for another day. After patting and pressing the essence into my skin and waiting for it to absorb, my skin looked fresh and refreshed, brighter, more awake. My complexion felt hydrated and looked smooth and plump, bouncy. This is an “A” mask.

"G" is for Goodal on Snail Saturday Smiley Happy

IMG_E4605.JPG

Spoiler

I received the Goodal Premium Snail Tone-Up Hydro Gel Mask from the fabulous @Shosh85 – thank you! It’s a 2-piece hydrogel mask aimed at moisturizing and brightening. Notable ingredients are snail mucin and ginseng extract. I don’t always have the best experiences with hydrogel mask, primarily because I find them to be very slippery. With most, but not all, hydrogel masks, I need to lie down for the mask to stay in place. The fit on the mask was okay – it’s a large mask, especially the width, and the strip of mask above the lip area is extremely slippery; I had a hard time getting it to stay in place. With this mask, I was able to do some work on my computer for the 30 minutes that I had the sheet mask on, but at the end of that time, the bottom half started sliding down and the left side of the top half of the mask was slowly peeling off on its own. No big deal because I was coming to the end of my mask time, which was also longer than the recommended 20 minutes.  There’s a bit of essence sitting on top of my skin when I removed the mask but that was absorbed easily and quickly once I patted and pressed it in. My skin is just ever so slightly tacky to the touch, but looks hydrated and bright – I look well rested and that’s a good thing. In terms of fit, it wasn’t the best hydrogel mask, but the results from the mask are quite good; I’d give it an "A-".

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I love the comparisons you did between the Boscia and Milk masks! I've been super curious about the Milk one and have it on my list of masks to try. It definitely would be great for travel!

Its been awhile since I've tried that Goodal one, and actually totally forgot about it. Haha! I remember thinking I liked the results, but didn't remember much else. I reviewed my notes to jog my memory, and this is one thing I wrote: "It was a bit of a challenge positioning it on my face due to how rubbery and slippery it was"...haha! It seems almost half the time I just end up removing the bottom part, long before the top – plus, it just makes it easier to eat anyway. 😂😂 I'm glad you liked it despite the fit and slippery-ness! 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 oh, I feel better; I thought the slip-sliding of the Goodal mask might have just been me. If I got one part to stay something else would start slipping. There were several "ohhh, nooo!" and "oh, oh, just stay..." coming from the bathroom when I was trying to adjust it. hahahaha! Smiley Happy

Comparisons are always fun and helps make only having one face more efficient. LOL! It'll be nice to see how the Milk green tea mask performs when the weather is warmer and my face oilier.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I love that the ‘notable ingredients’ of the Goodal mask include snail mucin, @itsfi 😆 The things we do for beauty. Sounds like a great mask and I have to Gree that anytime I’ve used a mask with that notable ingredient, it’s given my skin a pretty glow.

Funny you tried the Milk, I was doing a last-minute run through of my masks for the week and green was on my mind. I was wondering if you had used it. A mini of it or a double mini set would be great, especially as a holiday ornament this year!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, a mini set of the Milk masks would be a great idea. There's a lot of product in the regular size. Haha! Yeah, I've gotten good results from snail mucin products; I was definitely skittish about it before I used anything with it in the ingredients list, but now, it's "oh, a snail sheet mask. I wonder if it's a good one." LOL!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Any gross mask sneak peeks for next week, @itsfi 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, I have a placenta and snail sheet mask I'm planning on using tonight - because why not just go with a mask with not just one, but two, ingredients that can make someone squeamish?! LOL! Smiley Happy Probably going to try a bee venom and snail mask later in the week. I thought it would be the first time I used both - placenta and bee venom, but nope. It looks like I used sheet masks with both of those ingredients last year. I didn't recall it immediately - I think I was trying to not remember. Hahaha! I'm still masking so they can't be thaaaat bad, right, eshoe?!

I'm glad that I didn't have a reaction to the bee venom one last year; puts me more at ease to use the one with bee venom and snail mucin - that was an 'iffy' mask for this week. I also set aside a bunch of hydrating masks and aloe ones as well, just in case any of the 'gross' masks I use this week don't agree with my skin.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Now that just might take the cake @itsfi 😆! I picked up a placenta mask for this week’s challenge and it makes me cringe just to think of it. But I *think* it might just not be as bad as it seems.

I think I remember that bee venom one-only because masks like that tend to stick out😂
