Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

With morning masking the tack is almost better cause you can skip the primer and go straight in with your foundation.

I really enjoy mud masks but they are a commitment.  You’ve gotta open them and spread that all over you face and then you wait hoping no one needs you for anything.  And if someone comes to the door you can’t just whip it off, you’re answering that door as a swamp monster.  @eshoe

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hmmm I guess I’ve never thought of the tackiness as a good primer, @heartsmyface - I’m going to have to try that with a known tacky-mask!

We also have unexpected company frequently (family) and now they just expect that if it’s night, I’m probably going to look weird when I answer the door🙄

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface Too bad about the tackiness! A lot of people here have mentioned placing moisturizer on top to help get rid of the tackiness. I feel like it helps most of the time, but sometimes it still doesn't get rid of it. Have you tried that before?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I hadn’t heard of that but it makes sense that the moisturizer would dilute the residue so I’ll try that next time.  ThanksSmiley Happy@Shosh85

My skin is feeling particularily nice right now even after washing it off but that may be that it’s liking all the peel off masks lately.  I’ve been quite lazy and sticking to sheet masks for the most part for last year or so.  Lazy isn’t quite the word is it...time restricted is more like it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface I definitely know what you mean about having a "time restriction!" I think that's why I usually try and avoid mix-it-yourself masks or multiple step masks – it just takes more time than just slapping on a sheet mask. They are kinda fun though, if you do have the time for it! 😄

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ugh I can’t seem to edit.  Obviously I meant mixed

2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

And tonights mask VS Glow Getter. I cant place the scent on this one but I'm not a big tea person. The fit was almost perfect for me. I did have to overlap the cuts on the cheeks though. Plenty of serum. I left this one for about 40 min, was able to paint my toenails without fear of it falling off. I finally took it off but it still was pretty wet on the lower part of my face. After I removed it, I was ready to apply my moisturizer within 5 min..it soaked in really quick. It was a tad sticky when I touched my face though. My skin did feel soft & smooth when I rubbed my moisturizer on it. Pretty good experience but VS rarely keeps the same mask for more than a season so should I even grade these? 🤔side note: I took back all my esfolio masks & this is what I got while I was there. Not bad finds, more acrylic storage & was eyeing that set at ulta since I tried 2 of the masks already. happy to pay $6.99 for it😁😍

oh no @sonnydee I'm keeping my vs masks you gifted me safe for awhile 😂 I really want to use one, maybe later on for the V week.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It’s kinda funny to me that there’s a ‘Go-Getter’ mask @sonnydee. Glad you were able to return those masks, and able to pick up something more useful! ETA: Wow I guess I read it wrong, Glow Getter not Go Getter Smiley Very Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@sonnydee Glad you could return your esfolio masks without any issue! Acrylics are always useful.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds like you got some good results with the VS mask @sonnydee! Happy to hear you were able to return the esfolio mask - you found some great things for them! Nice score on the Soap & Glory set!! Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

sounds like a pretty good mask @sonnydee  - I love when you can do other things while wearing the sheet mask!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@sonnydee Sounds like a decent mask! VS is like B&BW in that way – their masks get changed up every season! It kinda makes me not want to try them!

Im happy to see you were able to return your masks! Looks like you got some great things to replace them!! 🙌

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

They have kept the hydrogels-lavender,rose, tea i do have those & liked the serum, liked the results but its chunky. So, I'm hoping they improved them. The fit was good on this one so even if they replace their masks every season like shoes-i hope they kept the fit the same😍😁 @Shosh85

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

So last night I broke into the Consonant DHE mask.  This was the mask that was included in my gratis box from Sephora.  Since the letter G is a consonant and so is my mask... it fits!

I've never heard anything about this mask before yesterday and honestly have barely even heard of Consonant.  I did just do a clay mask the night before so I wasn't really needing one... but I did need to use a new mask right away.  As soon as I started to put this onto my masking brush I could smell it.  At first I thought it was almost a sulfur smell, but not as strong, but then I started to think about Jaagermeister, or cough syrup.  Its a very herbalish scent, but I wasn't mad at it, the more I smelled it, the more I liked it.  This mask has a thinner consistency than other mud masks I've used and so I applied a thin layer.  There was a bit of a minty, cooling feeling, and at one point I thought i could feel major tingles/pinpricks on my cheek, but it went away after about 30 seconds of me panicking that i was about to have an allergic reaction.  I left the mask on for the recommended 30 mintues and it did dry down, but didn't feel tight.  I washed off in the shower using only my hands.  My skin felt nice after the mask, not tight, but not hydrated.  My pores did look great.  I didn't read any of the other reviews or write ups about this mask until after I'd used it to avoid having any preconceived notions. I'm going to try using this again next week, but I'm thinking that just like other mud type masks, I'll see more benefits in the summer months.

Has anyone else tried this mask?  Thoughts?

sounds decent @missjeanie I'd like to know how it does in...

sounds decent @missjeanie I'd like to know how it does in the summer as well

Re: sounds decent @missjeanie I'd like to know how it does in...

Me too @lmaster I think my skin is just so dry and dehydrated right now that this isn't moisturizing enough for me.  In the summer where I'm more combination it will likely be more beneficial.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie @eshoe @itsfi and for anyone else interested - I have used a handcream by Consonant before that I purchased here on recommendation from my eye doctor (she’s constantly using anti-bac on her hands which makes them SUPER dry). She swore by the stuff so I picked it up. It’s great! And totally unscented for anyone who is sensitive to scents or needs to use a lot of moisturizer and doesn’t want an aggressive scent all the time (not sure about you guys but too much of any scent causes headaches)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I feel like I use hand cream mostly at work so scent free is a wonderful thing! @cianni thanks for the heads up!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you very much for the tip on the hand cream, @cianni 😉
