@sonnydee Too bad about the KS! Glad it at least didn't have any adverse effects!
I agree, the Sephora sleeping masks are a great filler item! I just wish they made an efficient way to keep it closed, like the others I've seen that come with little lids. 😉
@Shosh85 I've noticed the Sephora sleeping masks are on sale... perhaps new packaging coming?
I agree on those Sephora Sleeping masks, @sonnydee 😄
Thursday's masking had some great masks (evening masking) and a less than stellar one (morning mask).
My skin was looking for some hydration – it always is really, but this week and next in particular, I’m trying to really infuse it with lots of hydration, so given Thursday morning’s miss, I went for one of my favorite hydrating masks that evening – Leaders Aquaringer Treatment Mask. Before reaching for the mask though, I used another favorite of mine, the AMOREPACIFIC - Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder for some gentle exfoliation to slough off dead skin and get it ready for the Leaders Aquaringer Treatment Mask, a tried and true sheet mask that has never let me down when my skin is parched and needs a hydrating pick me up. I don’t know what it is about Leaders masks but they just work really well on my dehydrated-dry skin. Leaders Aquaringer is a thin cotton mask that is heavily saturated with essence containing, among other things, Natural Alps glacial water, sugar maple extract and hyaluronic acid. To me, this has a scent I would characterize as “signature sheet mask scent PLUS”, as in there’s an extra bit to the scent – maybe it’s signature sheet mask scent, Leaders style. LOL! As I look at the ingredients list, it seems the extra scent is from the added fragrance. That’s disappointing, and even more so that it’s not even the last listed ingredient; it falls in the middle; I feel like it didn’t have to be that way. It seems like the mask would be fine without any added fragrance.
Fit and adherence on the sheet mask is really good, and there’s a lot of essence in this mask. I typically leave sheet masks on for an half hour, but with this one, I left it on for an hour, and that was more because I’m getting tired than it was that the mask was drying out. I probably could have had the mask on for an additional 20-30 minutes. My skin is slightly tacky to the touch but it goes away as I apply my moisturizer over the essence. My skin looks and feels softer, brighter, refreshed and more hydrated – hard to argue with those results; this one earns itself an “A+”.
While the mask was doing its thing, I applied FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Lip Therapy to my windburned lips. This lip balm was a gift from the wonderful @keana1 (thank you!). This one leans ever so slightly on the thicker side but applies like a smooth balm; there’s a scent that is very familiar to me, part minty-ish and part something else, but I can’t seem to identify the exact fragrance. This has been bothering me and I’m sure it’ll come to mind at the least convenient time. LOL! The scent is a tad on the stronger side and lingers a bit longer than most balms so if you’re sensitive to scent, this might be a pass for you. For me, I found the scent to be pleasant and the balm itself was nourishing and moisturizing, an “A” balm. I love this DS size; I’ve already put it in my travel bag. 🙂
Ingredients (Leaders Aquaringer):
@itsfi I can deal with a bit of alcohol or a bit of fragrance in a mask/skincare product... but I mean second on the list is kinda ridiculous. How unnecessary.
Completely with you @missjeanie! 😊👊🏼 I typically just see how my skin responds to a mask immediately and a few days after to determine if the presence of alcohol in the mask is a deal breaker. Here though it’s the second ingredient (!!) which suggests to me that even if my skin was fine right after using it or the next day, over time it would take a toll on my skin’s hydration levels. My skin is already dehydrated year round so I don’t need to add more ways for it to be more dehydrated if I can help it. 😆😂🤪
I’m sorry that the Kose sheet mask didn’t work out @itsfi ! Alcohol is the 2nd ingredient, that’s awful, no wonder this mask wasn’t great! The Leaders Aquaringer Mask must be very hydrating, sounds great, I have to add this one to my list! ( I took some time to organize my list of A/A+ masks ) Love the AP Treatment Enzyme Peel!
You’re so good @keana1! 👍🏼 I don’t track grades in my notes, but can look it up on the spreadsheet if I need to know. I have a column in my notes for whether I would repurchase and that’s what I look at (and sort through) when a large mask haul is appropriate. 😉 I should be able to make it through Easter before that becomes necessary. 😂
I’m pretty sure that you have enough sheet masks to last you until the 4th of July @itsfi ! 😜
Hahahaha, @keana1! 😂🤣😂🤣 You’re probably right. Once I finish Marie Kondo-ing my place, then I’ll get to orgranizing my sheet masks. 📋✅
That would be a great idea @itsfi ! Just take it one day at a time!
@itsfi Too bad the Kose mask was such a let down! That alcohol really is high up there!
Glad you could make up for that one with the Leaders – that one sounds wonderful! I don't think I've tried anything from this line yet. 😃🤗
@Shosh85, the masks in this line are thin 💗 and saturated in essence. The Aquaringer is my favorite, but there are several good ones in the line. 👌🏼
No @itsfi, second on the list?!?! Rubbing alcohol is neither soothing nor necessary😞 Unless of course you want to sanitize a wound, but I wouldn’t think that delicate outer skin layer needs such harshness. So sorry about the mask, and the line in general. Though thank you for being the forerunner😄
Yeah, I was surprised how high it appeared on the list @eshoe! 😲 I’ve seen alcohol as the fourth or fifth ingredient listed which is bad enough but second? 😠 I’ve been trying to keep my skin extra hydrated 💦 since using this one.
@itsfi So sorry the Kose mask didn't work out, but glad you got the results you needed by the Leaders!! Thanks for the info on the Kiehl's lip balm!! I'm always looking for a new one to try!! 😊
@yankeefaithful, I was surprised by the Kose sheet mask; just didn't expect that, but now I know. That Leaders Aquaringer is a reliable one - love it! I love lip balms; my stash would suggest that I'm of the "you can never have too many" philosophy when it comes to lip balms. hahaha! 🙂
Yeah it's disappointing @itsfi because it is such beautiful packaging 😉 so sad
I know @lmaster! The second ingredient no less! My goodness!! I've never been so happy to see water as the first ingredient. hahaha! 😉 The only Kose sheet mask that I've really liked is the one in the pink packaging. I may have to check out the ingredients list for the other skincare items in the blue Kose line the next time I'm in the store - I'm wondering if it's that high up in the sheet mask because it's acting as a preservative, but still, there are other preservatives out there besides straight up alcohol.
Exactly @itsfi and now that more and more people are looking out for ingredients, they need to step up their game 😯
