ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Still catching up on my reviews and today’s review is for the Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask.

IMG_1338.jpg

Spoiler

This mask is very similar to the Cucumber Gel Mask but I do prefer it. It has a lovely rose fragrance and I am a fan of florals, although I know many people are not. It also applies exceptionally smoothly for me. The Cucumber Gel Mask has a very slight tackiness and drag that this mask lacks, and my fingertips glide across my face like Yuzuru Hanyu on freshly shaved ice as I apply it. The combination of those two details means that while the Cucumber Gel Mask puts me in mind of applying Aloe + Lidocaine after excessive sun exposure when I was a kid, the Rose Stem Cell Mask reminds me of a relaxing spa experience. The mask is described as “a reparative, soothing gel mask, powdered by rose stem cell technology, that helps diminish visible signs of aging” and is suggested to help with fine lines and wrinkles; dullness and uneven texture; and dryness. I applied the mask to freshly cleansed skin using my fingertips and left it on for 10 minutes, then removed with cool water and a Makeup Eraser cloth. While I did end up with soft, smooth, plump skin, the effects were mild and unremarkable. It is a nice mask for hydration but since the weather is so hot and humid right now hydrated skin isn’t really a concern for me at this time. Regardless, I do like this mask and see it being one that I will return to happily when I want to relax and enjoy some “me time”.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This was such an interesting review, @Alphaboo. Your comparisons with the aloe gel as a kid (oh yes, I remember that stuff) is so helpful, especially for someone who hasn't tried it. I just love your photos of the actual mask, again 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

So good for you to get in some me time @Alphaboo! 🤗

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Alphaboo  Can’t wait to use it! Thanks for your review 😊 🌹

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks for the informative review @Alphaboo

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Alphaboo  What a great review -so descriptive! Im so happy to hear you enjoyed it! 😃🌹

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Your fingertips gliding is an amazing visual @Alphaboo. About how much do you apply, quarter size?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes, @ShortErica, a mounded quarter-sized dollop is pretty much a perfect description of the amount I used!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @Alphaboo!

this is one of my favorite masks @Alphaboo glad to hear y...

this is one of my favorite masks @Alphaboo glad to hear you enjoy it as well 😍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Finally getting around to posting this!  I received this set as gratis from Sephora and Peter Thomas Roth.

I found this mask to be easy to apply and to remove.  After removing, my skin did look fresher.

It’s important to mention that I am almost 8 months pregnant any my hormones haven’t played so nice with my skin.

Despite all this, I didn’t notice any additional breakouts, but I also didn’t notice anything particularly wowing. I definitely want to give this a few more tries, as well as to see if my results change when using this not pregnant. WIll definitely report back and give a final verdict.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Wow @rockstargina you are almost there! My hormones wrecked havoc with my skin when I was pregnant, so much more than when I was a teenager. I'm so happy for you to start the next part of your life with your little one 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Awww @rockstargina, you’re adorbs! Will be so interesting to see how you like it when you are not pregnant.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@rockstargina 8 months? You're almost there! You look adorable! Sorry this one wasn't wowing for you. I agree that it's not a life changer, but I do like how soft and smooth it makes my skin feel!

Congratulations on the upcoming new arrival!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you!  It’s crazy to think in about 7 weeks my daughter will be here and I will have 2 babies under 2! 😳

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@rockstargina I've been there! My boys are 20 months apart and I can't say it was easy right at first, but you eventually find your groove and get into a routine that works. 😃Hang in there momma! 😘

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I’m so excited for all the pregnant BIC ladies. You look like you are doing well @rockstargina. I’ll be curious if you try this again, both pregnant and after the baby arrives. Thanks for your review!

awwww @rockstargina not much longer!!

awwww @rockstargina not much longer!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks for the review @rockstargina! This mask is one of my personal favorites but different skin types do respond in different ways which is why it is nice to have so many people post their thoughts.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

B is for Brightening- another one from Masks on the Move!3043ABB4-B20F-4433-BE80-857CD3DA8F7C.jpeg

Spoiler

Haruharu Maqui Berry Brightening Mask

This is a white cotton sheet mask that is thin-medium in thickness and was saturated with serum. The scent on this was not my favorite, and was just a bit too much for me - it sort of smelled like a mix of things, but what I picked up was wine berry and brown rice, mixed with a hint of sweet and floral. The fit was pretty much too big all the way around the mask, but had good adherence and was comfortable to wear. I kept it on for about a half hour. When I removed it the little bit of serum that was left was only slightly tacky but absorbed very quickly. My face looked noticeably brighter and had a nice glow - and my skin felt soft, smooth and hydrated.

If not for the scent I would definitely buy more of these.

Look at the artwork on this... whatever that thing is she's riding, I like that it's wearing a suit and tie and I like that she's wearing mask while riding it - that's some dedication!😂3DE2D5BB-4B6C-4954-B8EE-80CA96CE1256.jpeg
