ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster I almost ordered this one and it sounds like I'm not missing out too much. At least it made a decent primer. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That’s a great idea @lmaster😊 Too bad the mask wasn’t better.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@faeriegirl it started so well too, usually I have bad luck with foil masks staying on, but the tackiness was off putting

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

SUCH a good idea to use the serum in the packet before applying the mask!! I hate when you put a mask on and there are some less saturated patches that dry up faster than the rest of the mask 😰 @lmaster

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Exactly @cianni this way, I don't have to worry about any dry spots 😁

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

In my (feels like forever) absence, I’ve been trying to keep up masking, but focusing more on repeats and a couple wash off masks that I’m looking to pan. Last night I decided to try a new one to review for the thread but... it fully shredded as I was adjusting it on my face. Like a sheet of paper! So can’t really speak on what it does for the skin, how it feels etc 😂 oh well, I’ll try something new tonight or tomorrow! Can’t really give this one a grade so ill give it a DNF (did not finish) hahahaa

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

So good to have you back @cianni! Have you found any repeat masks that you love? Your post reminded me that there are probably a couple of wash off masks that I need to devote a little more time to using up.

Wow, the mask just came apart on you! So sorry to hear that. What a bummer!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi ive been using the Ahava Moisture Cream mask (the entire brand can’t be tagged - is it not available on the US side anymore?), that @lmaster had recommended a long time ago and I picked up. I do really like it as a sleeping mask, but I’ve been trying to use up some DS, and Laneige Sleeping Mask trials tend to pile up 😂. I bought a FS of the LANEIGE - Lavender Water Sleeping MaskDuring the sale, but I ended up exchanging it for the regular version because it wasn’t nearly as good despite the only marketed difference being the scent. I’ve also been using a Formula 10.0.6 (I think that’s the name), but I’ll be reviewing it as part of this thread so I’ll keep my thoughts under wraps for now 😉 OH - I also have been trying to pan this awful Arbonne mask. No idea where it came from but it’s the only hydration mask I’ve ever tried that somehow burns when you apply it?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@cianni, Sephora US doesn't carry Ahava; I think they may have previously though. Good to know about the original and lavender Laneige sleeping mask; I've stuck to the original version - in large part because I have so many DS and foils of it as well, not a bad thing as I really like the sleeping mask. Oooh, can't wait to hear your thoughts on the 10.0.6 mask; will keep an eye out for your post. Ohhh cianni!! That Arbonne mask does not sound like a keeper, at least not as a face mask? Do you think you'd experience the burning feeling if you applied it elsewhere? Like your elbows, feet/heels or legs? Our face can be more sensitive than other body parts. Maybe it'd be easier (and safer) to pan it if you used it on another part of the body?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Well now that's not how a masking is supposed to go @cianni .  What a bummer.  I guess at least we all know to avoid this one now.

awwwww boo @cianni well,u tried darlin

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Nice to see you back around here, @cianniI think I'll make a note not to try this mask! Yikes! That's pretty disappointing! 😕

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thats too bad it fell apart @cianni, it looks like a nice mask☹️

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Welcome back @cianni! I had a mask like that recently, it was so frustrating, as the essence was quite nice. I like your ‘DNF’ designation; might need to use it sometime 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe @cianni wanted to 2nd that the DNF designation us a great idea. Though I'm hoping never to need to use it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I think I’m also going to use the DNF for any masks that were uncomfortable/itched or burned and I removed before the recommended time. But I agree, I hope none of us ever needs to use it!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoeHappy to be back! I have a fun lineup for tonight that (hopefully) works out better 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@cianni, pleased you're here.  Sorry the black pearl fell apart, I looked at a black pearl mask, yesterday.  Don't believe it was this brand.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u this is the first time I had tried anything from the brand! I like the idea of a black pearl mask so maybe I’ll seek out another brands version

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Doesn't quite fit in with this week's theme but wanted some pore care so tried this one. I've been curious about these for a bit now.

had to borrow a pic from the internet since I forgot to take onehad to borrow a pic from the internet since I forgot to take one

Spoiler
The mask itself was a pretty good fit. It lay nicely and was flexible... almost reminded me a one of those flexible band-aids. It did have a fragrance which I was able to tolerate but I was a busy body last night while masking I forgot about it. I think I wore it longer than anticipated because when I took it off, it was dry. Very little serum to pat in but it did absorb nicely and not tacky at all. I did have to apply moisturizer later on since afterall, it was pore care, not moisturizing mask.

I enjoyed that it felt cool, not sure if it was the mask itself or the house since it was a chilling evening. Either way, liked that a lot. I don't think I have big pores so I dont know if it helped with that but I just enjoyed this mask overall. Can't wait to try the water one.
