So much love for When this week! I love the scent on that Glamglow @emaisgr8 . I had a reaction to it, but wish I could find another mask with that same scent.
Glad they worked for you @emaisgr8 . I have I’m Rice. Can’t wait to try it.
Love the variety in your mask choices @emaisgr8! Love ThirstyMud - hydrating and smells soooo good! Such a great pick for vacay! ❤️ Glad to hear the TonyMoly Rice mask was a hit; I made a note to check my stash to see if I have that one. I love rice masks for brightening!
I’m glad they all worked out for you @emaisgr8!
@emaisgr8 I love the When and ThirstyMud masks! The ThirstyMud has definitely been a lifesaver for my dry skin several times!
Glad to hear you liked this Tony Moly mask! I've never tried any from this line so it's nice to know which are the ones that have worked for people! 😃
@emaisgr8 how was the Olay? I think I have that sample.
@ShortErica It was good for travel. It really lathers up once you get it wet.
Week 23 - Jun 3 - 9 - W - DIY Week
I went for another W in the peach slices Shrink Pores with willow bark + soybean extract sent to me again by the fabulous @eshoe. She spoiled me with unicorn mail last year and definitely is a key reason why the masking thread is my favorite and I'm addicted to masks. It's not blame, it's credit - I love it! Though maybe my wallet says "No! Stay away from Marshall's and those sheet masks!"
I'm not familiar with what the smell was on this mask but opening it up, it had a strong scent. Bark? Woodsy? Masculine? It was dripping with serum.
My face:
The fit was good until you go below the nose. The philtrum area was too long across. I feel like I've had this problem with other masks and have considered cutting it so it lays correctly. The chin area was okay and I smushed it into place.
I wore it for 30 minutes while enjoying a bath. The smell wasn't prominent while wearing but I could still smell it occasionally. I also had some Dr. Teal's Almond Oil & Shea Butter epsom salt in the bath which might have helped.
My skin had the somewhat tacky then slightly tacky feel after removal. Like the cocoon willow, it was moist so I applied it to my neck. My skin looked smooth which is interesting because the mask claims it but I couldn't find anything that stood out to be as a plumping ingredient at a glance. Willow bark is more for brightening right? Which my skin was brighter too. But my face did seem pink in my cheeks, nose, and chin area. It faded after a while but not something I hope to have happen with a sheet mask.
So I don't know. B is my rating. The material was thinner than the cocoon willow though nothing to write home about. Also the fit wasn't as great. The smelll also was a big factor in not liking this as well. I was very impressed with the leftover serum level..which is why I've decided let's do the DIY week thing and thrown in a condensed cotton mask into the package and placed in my refrigerator to give it a 2nd chance tomorrow. I'll update after seeing how it goes.
Oh my @ShortErica. This does not sound ata ll pleasant. They make a Hydrate mask that has a much more pleasant scent, as does the Brigtening Yuzu one.
That's good to know @eshoe. I could see someone who wants salicylic acid in their routine finding this one useful after hearing more about willow bark. I just dont think it's an ingredient I need. Now I'm curious how the other ones are since the fit and material was fine.
Too bad about the smell @ShortErica . Sounds good otherwise.
@ShortErica Salicylic acid is extracted from willow bark, it doesn’t brighten or plump the skin. It’s used to help treat acne and blemishes. Don’t use too much because it dries up your skin or if you want to try it again, hydrate your skin afterwards with hyaluronic acid ( sodium hyaluronate ) or your skin might look and feel irritated. You can rinse the serum afterwards also. ( just in case, I wouldn’t want you to have the same reaction I did before with SA, my face swelled up and this lasted a few days! ) 😉 Now I can laugh about it but it wasn’t funny when it happened! I looked like a puffer fish 🐡 ! 😜
Thanks for the warning @keana1. I'm glad you can laugh now cause it must have been awful. This masks seems to advertise things willow bark won't do which is a bit frustrating. My skin did look smooth and a bit brighter so I wonder what that was but it definitely was pink. I have a hyaluronic acid product to use afterward so I definitely will do that!
You’re welcome @ShortErica ! Hope your skin is doing great!
@ShortErica, willow bark contains salicin (which can be converted to salicylic acid) and tannins so your skin might be reacting to one or both of those.
I should've guessed you would come to my rescue with ingredient knowledge @itsfi - thanks!
Smell is such a big factor to me @ShortErica, other than that this one sounds pretty decent.
