2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks -
Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface "Jelly like and fits like second skin" is my favorite kind of mask! It definitely looks great! I know I tried this a while back, but I don't remember much about it... sounds like I need to refresh my memory. 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 If that’s the case you haaaaave to trade for the sasa pink and sapphire masks when they arrive!!!  You will like.  They have a not so obvious film on them you have to remove but they’re so goodSmiley WinkSmiley Wink

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface Oh yeah, I had my eyes on those masks! 😃

2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sticking with the theme for this week..this mask smells like baby Banana food. Is supposed to naturally moisturize your face with gentle nourishment. It's a sheet mask. No, I havent used this before. No color on said sheet mask either. Can you guess what it is?🤗🤔🤔🤔🤔

🤣🤣🤣🤣ok, I had enough fun. Sorry I couldn't give you m...

🤣🤣🤣🤣ok, I had enough fun. Sorry I couldn't give you more but I thought for sure, someone would remember WHAT I was supposed to be finishing up & go back to read the description on it. Avocado! I purposely used words from the description...🤣🤣🤣🤣 anyways! I didnt think I could participate in this weeks with it, until I smelled it. Like a jar of baby Banana food. Not bad, @heartsmyface-i always had to sneak in a bite or two for me, 🤷‍♀️had to know if it was gross or not...but not avocado at all. The serum was the same milky not a shred of creamy like a avocado. But the results were pretty good! I left this on for about 40 min. The fit on this one was the ok version. just had to adjust the below the nose part. My skin was pretty slick with the serum so I skipped my night moisturizer-but now after a few hours my face feels nourished. So the likability of this series of masks for me (the fit was the stand out deciding factor)😁lemon😁bamboo waters😁avocado 😁pomegranate 😏aloe 🤨green tea 😕tea tree

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

A’Pieu is the only banana scented mask I know of, but baby food doesn’t sound appealing @sonnydee 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe @Hehehehe, confession-  I like eating baby food.  Only the fruity desserts though🤫

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

My sis did, too @heartsmyface! Banana was a fave😄

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I have images of banana sheet masks racing through my brain but I can't make the connection baby banana food for any of them @sonnydee! I feel like I need to run to the Walgreens by my house and buy a jar of baby banana food for a point of reference...

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@sonnydee  Is it the a p’ieu banana milk mask?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh geez. No ideas @sonnydee. Though banana scent makes me think Ole Henriksen..but that's not baby banana food smell. Excited for more guesses to come in!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Masking peeps - help! I am trying to reorganize my mask stash and now have some half filled mask boxes. Is there any reason to keep boxes? I think taking the masks out of the box should save space right? But is it not as neat? Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe @heartsmyface @sonnydee @missjeanie

Some of the masks were slightly too tall for the plastic drawers so I put my bath stuff in that and managed to get all of the masks in the cloth basket. Not 100% sold on this but they are all in one place and it's better than before. Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I really like your setup, @ShortErica. Easy to see and nice to look at👍🏼

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @eshoe! I barely had any masks last year and now look at the monster you've created. 🤣

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This looks great @ShortErica ! So much easier to see what you have when they’re all in one place! I really like @heartsmyface s set up, but I don’t have shelf space. Most of my masks are in two big boxes on my dresser, but I have gifted masks separate, and then a bag full of others that don’t fit...

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @missjeanie! There's still a little room but hopefully it encourages me to use up some masks before I buy more. I need help. 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Help @ShortErica ??? In filling up the last spots?? I'm sure we can help you with that! lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

NOOOO @missjeanie! I'm trying to motivate myself to buy less and make room for favorites in the future. Hahaha.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Mine are removed from boxes almost immediately @ShortErica. I try one, if I like, it is put in the distribution pile. If I don’t, I set aside to try, and try again. But I don’t keep boxes. Takes up too much valuable real estate.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I ditch the boxes to save space.  The only benefit I see for the boxes is if you need a little extra protection for them.  I’ve been storing mine in book bins I got off amazon.  They’re the perfect size for most masks and are  easily flipped through.  I’m still happy with this solution. 81ED2AF6-7977-4A1A-860F-8D9F40ADCC97.jpeg
