ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi @Thank you.  I did get my hair cut but I think what you’re seeing is post hair washing fluffy volume!  i normally weigh it down with coconut oil and a plethora of products

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface, thanks for the pic demo on how to make a terrible fit into a perfect fit!  When I would read  one modified the fit of a mask, I wondered how it was done.

Also, excellent tip on the Q-tip to dry eye area for bubble sheet masks!  I suppose one could also do it in the lip area, if feeling some irritation from a mask?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u my eyebrow scissors get way more use for masking fixes than they do for actual eyebrows but at least they’re useful!

Aw man  don’t know when I figuref it out to use qtips but it’s so helpful for any creams or lotions that start seeping into your eyes.  It happens a lot.

And yeah, if your lips are sensitive or you just don’t like the sensation of something that could potentially help.  I’d be a little more concerned feeling lip irritation from a mask cause i’d be wondering if it were an allergic reaction.

Sounds great @itsfi!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The combination of charcoal and honey is really a perfect pairing for my skin @divaknits! 🙂

@itsfi this origins mask sounds like it did the trick for you! glad it was a nice one

Re: @itsfi this origins mask sounds like it did the trick for...

It was lovely @lmaster. The honey 🍯 really helps to keep it from being drying. 👍🏼

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I need to try this one @itsfi!😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It’s quite good @faeriegirl! My combo skin is a fan. 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Charcoal as an ingredient makes me cringe cause my skin is already so dry.  ha, my skin was mad at me for using the boscia pudding mask. Just gonna steer away from that ingredient from now on.  The honey is darn tempting though.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface, the honey in this one makes it much more friendly to us dry or dehydrated skin folks. It's a bit gooey, but it sorta makes it fun. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Oh I like gooey!  I think I may need to go in and get a sample of this one.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I too love your choice usage of the letter “X” @itsfi 😉 It’s been awhile since I’ve used that Origins and it sounds like one that needs to be tried again. Especially now that honey has been added into the mix👍🏼🍯

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

"X" week has resulted in me learning new words @eshoe! lol.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes @itsfi and I need to get those added to the list for next alphabet run-through!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  Such a clever idea! Love your choice. I use this one often!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @ather! 🙂 I really like this mask - the original version works as a spot treatment because of its potency but it's too drying for use all over my face; this one strikes a really nice balance for my skin. ❤️

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  did they change it? I have the old version but I thought it was more a package change.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ather, there's 2 different Clear Improvements mask from the brand. Charcoal is the key ingredient in the original version which comes in a tube form. I think with the original one, there may be 2 different designs on the packaging, but both are in a tube. ORIGINS - Clear Improvement® Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores

In this version in the jar, the main ingredients are charcoal and honey - ORIGINS - Clear Improvement™ Charcoal Honey Mask to Purify and Nourish.  As far as I know, the original version did not include honey.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds like @lmaster has been influencing a few of us this week!  I tried the Honey Milk Candy Mask from Candy O'Lady last night after reading her rave review!

Spoiler
First off, I picked up a pack of 10 at Winners for around 8$.  This makes this mask already a winner for having a 10 for the price of 1 or 2 masks price point for me. I'll admit, I fell for the packaging design.  I believe this company is repackaging into a different size pouch and so the reason we were finding them at winners.  When I first opened the pouch I was greeted with an amazing honey scent.  Not a fake honey, but, it really smelled like a gourmet honey!  It made my mouth water!  The mask was a standard material and thickness.  The serum wasn't overly runny, but wasn't as thick as a jelly mask. I left it on for about 20-25 minutes and when I removed it the excess serum massaged in quickly.  No tackiness after about 10 minutes.  My skin felt like I may have been able to get away without a moisturizer but I added some anyhow (It's rare I'll chance not wearing one morning or night, but opted for a lighter one before bed).  This morning my skin wasn't super hydrated, but it looked 'normal' in terms of hydration/moisture.  I'm not mad at this mask.  That gorgeous honey scent is the real win in this mask.  The effects for me are nothing outstanding, however certainly meet my expectations for a sheet mask. I'm curious to try out the other two flavours I picked up from the brand now.
Fellow maskers... if you're a Honey lover... this one is for you!

Oh I used the I dew care volcanic ash before my shower as well.  My pores just looked like they needed a mud mask and they looked much nicer after I washed this off.  Has a jelly like texture for a mud mask and dries down, but not tight.  The little size like this will get me 4 full face masks.  I don't mind this one, but I won't seek it out again.  I'm going to try to use this one up in the next week or two just to make room in my 'open stuff' cabinet.
