Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Week 27 - July 1 - 7 - A - Hydrating Masks

I consciously packed some of my Marshall's finds so I could use them and know if they were worth it. Plus hopefully it helps me make better Marshall's purchases in the future. Last week was my Oozoo bear collection but this week is more miscellaneous. So for A I did Ariul 7 days mask in tea tree.

20190702_221929.jpg20190702_221935.jpg

The yadah nose strip let me down. I don't have bad pores but the occasional biore strip to clear some gunk out makes me happy and feel better about my skin. But of course I didn't have time before my trip and forgot to pack one. Luckily I'll be home for the weekend of B week. Back to the point, I was hoping that this would help some. It had a very milky serum. You could also clearly smell the tea tree removing it from the pack. It reminded me of a foot spray I once had. I don't know about foot ingredients on the face.

My face

Spoiler
20190702_222158.jpg

The fit was maybe an inch wide on each side and normalish long in the chin area. Maybe a half inch short of the forehead. The philtrum was wide. I am considering snipping wide ones in the middle and overlapping it for a better fit. Has anyone else done this before? But overall I could make this fit work and it was pretty good.

I wore it for 30 minutes while in the tub. I could smell the tea tree scent (moderate) on and off. When I removed it my face and the mask were quite wet. I massaged in the serum but there was a lot still to be absorbed on my face. So I folded the mask in half, placed it on my neck and tried to wait. After a while I ended up putting moisturizer on top. It wasn't tacky just still moist so I figured I would seal it in. Does tencel fiber hold the serum that much better than cotton for the mask to have a longer wear? When I try again I plan to go for 45 minutes.

I waited for the next morning to judge. Because my face was serumy, I left the extra for the next day. I applied it before my moisturizer. It was no miracle worker but it may have helped slightly with the sebaceous filaments on my nose. I'm really dying to do a biore when I get home with amazing results. Both for me and my husband.

I liked the material and the wear time and the fit. The smell was a bit much and I'm not sure about results. The multi ariul 7 days mask rating (who was that again?) of meh for the tea tree version seems appropriate. B or B-. I wouldnt repurchase but I will use what I have.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yeah the tea tree scent isn't for everyone, I agree @ShortErica. There is a tipping point where it becomes almost turpentine-like. Sorry this was a bit of a bust for you.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sorry the scent was too much for you on this one, @ShortErica. Tea tree is definitely a strong fragrance.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I kinda guessed it would be but I had to try @quspork. I’ll be smarter in the future.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Too bad this one didn’t work out @ShortErica☹️

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Definitely not the worst mask I’ve tried but most likely a recommendation of “pass” @faeriegirl. Unfortunately they can’t all be winners.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica, the scent of tea tree extract isn't for everyone. Sorry to hear you didn't have a better experience with this one.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I also noticed anise in the ingredients @itsfi which is a scent and taste I can’t stand. I would definitely take tea tree over it. Look at the bright side, right 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes, always good to be able to see the bright side to things. Hmmm, I don't think I really know what star anise smells like @ShortErica. I love it in pho soup, but there are a lot of other fragrant ingredients in that that I wouldn't be able to distinguish it by itself...something to add to my list of things to try. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Have you ever had a pizzelle? They are generally made with star anise but my grandma knows to make mine without it. 😉

3F9B208F-B870-477F-A844-CBEEBC3B13E7.jpeg

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica   I saw the picture of pizzelles as I was scrolling and had to stop by and see who posted it. 🙂  My grandmother made anise ones, but also vanilla and chocolate.  Her recipe was an old one from Italy.  It's the sturdiest pizzelle I've ever had. 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

They are awesome @Ispend2much6. Nobody wants a floppy one. My grandma says I can have her griddle for them. One day when I have more kitchen space!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica   Awww, that is so sweet of your grandma.  Did your grandmother have the griddle that you head on the stove?  They have always intrigued me.   That's how mine made them. Hers tasted better than mine, but maybe because they were made with love. 🙂  I have an electric, nonstick one for minis, and a regular aluminium electric one for the large ones.  The large are kind of a lot to eat if you make a variety of pizzelles, but it sure makes the work faster!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I believe it is electric @Ispend2much6. Though I rather remember seeing them being made. Just that they were there with other cookies when we arrived. Haha.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That’s very sweet of your grandma to leave out the star anise for you @ShortErica

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Foot spray? Yuck! 😄  Sorry it didn't work out for you. This is one I wouldn't buy because of the scent. Thanks for your thoughts @ShortErica

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The scent was definitely the standout for the bad part of the mask. The rest was fine. But I’m pretty sure I’ve had more irritating scents to me in other masks @veronika23. Gotta try em though.
